Chapter 99. Proud Beast

The two assembled and stood side by side.

"Do you think that we can take it down or should we find a ninth stage beast?" Alaric asked. She wore a complex gaze as she looked at him.

" It would have been possible few minutes ago but from what I see, we have successfully angered it especially the fact that that attack did nothing to us," she said.

Alaric also had the same complex gaze. They could use the treasure to scare him it away but she implied that she wanted to fight it. He was not the kind to shy away from battle. His eyes shone with battle intent as he turned all serious.

He wished he had his axes. But it was like Sarah read his mind.

[... Alaric, with your Soul at that level, it is very possible to make a weapon of a Practitioner Grade. As you improve, you can create grandmaster level weapons]

Alaric paused. Not because sarah told him a new secret but because she called him by his name. Also her tone was not as playful as she used to. This only brought the reality that she would disappear soon more saddening.

He almost felt like he would stop culrivating so that his Soul could not enter the next stage. But he did not have the luxury to feel sad now.

"Can you keep it busy for sometime?" Alaric asked. His eyes shone with determination and she did not question and nodded. She then stepped forward and charged.

He concentrated and clenched his hands. One could have thought he was fighting back the urge to lash out but that was not the case. It was slow but in ten seconds, his was fists were already glowing with golden light.

The light glowed reaching around 30 centimeters and a double edged axe heads glowed spanning around twenty centimeters wide. The sweat bwads on his forehead proved that he was straining.

It took around one more minute before the axe materialized. The beads of sweat had already started trickling down and also his shirt was all drenched. But the fruits of his labour were there for all to see.

Even the girl had paused when she saw that he had created two axes simultaneously. She now knew that array was her stronghold but someone else was way better than her. The best she could make was fabric...

But what shook her was the fact that the two weapons in his hands were both of the Master Grade. She was shocked as she knew just how difficult creation arrays were. Yet he had...

It was in less than two minutes and Alaric finished all he needed. He looked at the weapons in his hands and swung them. They seemed to fit in perfectly with him like they were made specifically for him.

Alaric though was not that pleased. It was a lot of time he had used in creating them. He felt that he could create them even faster than that. He accepted his weakness and prepared to charge.

If anyone heard his thoughts, they would certainly beat him to death. A master Grade weapon took days if not a week to craft. Yet here he had created one in two minutes but he was complaining that he had taken long.

If Alaric knew how long it took to make a Master Grade weapon, he would take back his words and accept the 'little' he could do before he improved later on.

Alaric did not waste more time as the girl was sent flying like the hundredth time. He could give her that she was tough or maybe her defenses were strong because she wa still in perfect condition.

She was about to charge again qhe6n he flashed past her. He side glanced and smiled as he shot at the deer. The deer especially had a special grudge with him. For the past two minutes it had been working its ass out while he was distracted from their fight.

It wanted to land some few hits on him. Alaric stopped ten meters away and jumped towards it.

Seeing how he had created Master Grade weapons, she thought that he had a great battle experience but seeing him charge at the deer head on and jumping at it appeared foolish.

She was about to take back her praise when he disappeared. The deer had sent several wind blades at him and she had thought he would not manage to dodge but who could have thought that he had the space element.

Her view of himi proved again as he appeared on the side of the deer and slashed at its neck. It went without saying that he was bound to fail. Had he been two or three stages stronger, he would have succeeded.

The axe on his right landed first but was rebounced and also the left one sliced the exact part but was rebounced. With both attacks failing, he teleported and alleared next to her.

"Its gonna be a rough ride," Alaric said.

"It definitely is," she replied with her eyes showing hint of rising battle intent. The fact that he had landed a hit on it the very first attack he had on it while she had not landed any pushed her to raise her trump cards.

They stared at the deer and they shivered. They had successfully managed to anger it. It let out a roar which did not sound like one but like a forced bellow of a bull.

The surroundings were all shaky. Its horns were releasing a strong wind that blew away the trees' branches. In the middle of the wind appeared wind blades that all sliced through the air towards them.

Alaric quickly teleported next to her to help her teleport but she was already prepared. He cursed as he teleported few meters away to where he could make clear visual of.

He was realizing that he could not teleport continously. Teleporting drained his energy too fast especially when he teleported away that far from the wind blades' reach. He realized that he could teleport for a maximum of five times in a battle.

He waited as the surroundings became calm. He never thought that there were very many breeds of treasure. Especially the one she was using which turned someone permeable to all attacks. He could not help but think that she was very reliant on treasures.

He was glad that she had used that treasure for what he had realized, if he dared to teleport two people, he would have to take a rest and recover his energy for all energy in him would be depleted.

It took almost two mimutes before the deer stopped. It had its head raised with the proud look on its face. It was a tenth grade beast and it had gotten rid of those annoying ants.

Well, it was not until the surroundings cleared and it saw the girl standing exactly where the wind blades were passing through and she was unscathed.

It had to second check. Werebthey not very weak than it? Its attacks were enough to kill them yet she was unacathed. Maybe she was lucky but the guy could not be as lucky. As if to fuel its rage, the guy appeared next to the girl unscathed.

It was now super angry. Beasts could not use techniques but could be said to be both energy and body cultivators. The first thought was to run over the girl. Its speed was blinding as it charged head on.

The girl did not move at all. The deer raised its head again proudly knowing that she was too scared to even move. It resumed its proud look as it slammed into her. But it passed through her.

There must have been a mistake as it turned and faced her. It charged at her again from her back. She did not even turn back as it charged and slammed into her back. But it passed through her.

It did not want to beleive and it felt that it was nothing but a mistake as it charged again twice before it stopped infront of her. Its proud look had disappeared again. Was it not a tenth stage beast?

Why was it that it was not even getting the pride it was supposed to have being stages stronger? How could it ever approach the tenth stage regions after its pride had been trampled on this way?

It turned to Alaric and charged at him with hopeful eyes. It moved at shocking speed fatser than the one it had been charging at her but when it saw his eyes which seemed to follow its movement, it felt some bitterness.

But it could not stop halfway as it slammed into his chest and it slammed into nothingness. It's prey was nowhere to be seen. It turned back and saw him still in his position. It was now more than certain that something was wrong.

It could not be that it was going to have its fate sealed by these two ants. But the two turned at it each with eyes shining with a white light. For an instant it saw death...
