The place was as quiet as a cemetery when Adobea and Gaither arrived before the door of his hotel room. Kokuvi was seated like a king, being fanned by two cohorts.

“Have a seat beside me,” he said, beckoning to her.

“No, my lord. I’d prefer to sit somewhere else with Gaither.”

“Is he your chaperone? What has he done to you that you follow him like a sheep? Or you’ve slept with him and cannot let go? Then you must be a big hypocrite to be crying for your deceased boyfriend.” Adobea could not utter a word.

“My Prince. I think it is very inappropriate to be saying such words to a grieving lady,” he interjected, bowing his head slightly.

“If it is true, then it is an abomination. She ought to be ashamed of herself! and you too!”

“You also solicited her friendship when her fiancé died. Now, tell me: who’s right and who’s wrong?”

“I’ll tell you! I do whatsoever I please! She’s fortunate I haven’t taken her into my private chambers!” Adobea choked and coughed.
