Chapter 3: Preparation for Battle

As far as Klein remembers, his father's troops only needed thirty Mechas to knock down an extraordinary demonic tiger before. The battle only lasted for an hour and the casualty to the heck city Mecha units was not even 20%.

"No this is not the same as the extraordinary beast before, earth dragons have a terrifying defense and strength, compared to the demonic tiger before, it takes twice as much effort before it is knocked down"

His father answered seriously as he now took his sword from the cabinet, and a small dagger.

When Klein saw that Jaime took the dagger he knew what he was planning.

This dagger was the key to his father's mecha.

"Father can I come with you, I promise I'll be in a safe place during the fight. I just want to observe the battlefield."

Jaime was surprised by his son's request. He grabbed Klein by the shoulder after placing the dagger on his belt side.

"Son, I know you have a heavy responsibility in the future, but don't put pressure on yourself first, also you know what will your mother do to me if she finds out that I brought you to the battlefield" his father earnestly replied as he denied Klein's request.

"But, Father..." Chris continued.

" no buts"

His father determined an answer that did not ask for any objection.

Klein sat down and thought of a way to convince his father to let him go. Three years ago when the extraordinary beast last appeared in their area, at that time he wanted to see the Mechas on the battlefield but his father and mother did not allow him.

' I'm sorry father, but I want to see the fight. I have no choice but to bring out my last ace'.

Klein listlessly sighed and sadly stood on the sofa towards the door.

Jaime was happy to see that his son gave in and didn't insist anymore, he didn't want his son to be under too much pressure so he didn't want to allow his persistence for now.

Klein was about to go out the door while holding onto the doorknob when he suddenly said something to the front of the door.

"It's too bad, I still want to come and see it, but it doesn't matter, I'll just talk to Mom and have a happy lunch," he said while slowly opening the door.

Jaime smiled as he heard what his son said, he knew that this was just his son's way of letting out his disappointment because of his objection.

"Yes, that's good, son, so your mother doesn't have to worry while I'm fighting on the battlefield. Don't worry, I'll take you to the battlefield the next time it happens again". He earnestly guaranteed.

Klein pretended not to hear what his father said and continued his speech.

"Oh I have a good story to share with Mom, I know that she will like to hear it detail by detail, about the romantic floor at the east of the city. Especially when a human called Uncle Arnold and..."

Klein wasn't able to finish the rest of his sentence when his father's hand hit the table.

"Klein Helck, as the future heir to my position, as the City Lord of Helck city, I give you the order to join the battlefield"

Klein was immediately faced with joy and was about to salute his father but he saw his father's hand positioned as a knife hand and was about to attack the lower part of his neck.

Klein quickly caught the attack and twisted his father's hand.

But before he could completely twist his father's hand, his father's hand immediately erupted with unbelievable strength and pushed him.

Jaime was also surprised by Klein's reaction to his attack.

"Father, you seem to be too deceitful," Klein said smiling.

Jaime also smiled at his son.

"You are also quite cunning my son, if I hadn't tried to put you to sleep I wouldn't have known that your skills are close to that of an advanced knight"

Jaime caressed the hand that Klein would have twisted while unable to hide his amusement.

"what do you think father, am I now qualified to be an observer on the battlefield"

Jaime can only shake his head in defeat and nod to his son.

"Alright, but you have to help me ease your mother's anger later and regarding the romantic floor, you have to forget it".

Though, even though Klein feels that his father places more emphasis on the romantic floor he nods.

The father and son walked out of the city lord's office and were now going towards the barracks.

The so-called barracks are places where all the mecha in the city are placed, this is the parking space for the gigantic mecha.

Everyone working in the barracks was surprised when they saw Jaime approaching while wearing armor and a sword at his side.

A soldier immediately approached Jaime wearing a military uniform, he was almost the same age as Jaime and his high rank could be seen on his right shoulder.

This man is what Klein calls Uncle Arnold before, one of Jaime's best friends and currently one of the Generals at war in Helck City

"City Lord, I didn't expect that you too would fight today." he greeted with a joking smile.

"Hehe Arnold I miss you, do you know Klein just mentioned you to me" Jaime happily greeted back and brought his face closer to Arnold's ear.

"Do you know that my son blackmailed me because you brought me to the romantic floor, I will make you pay, old bachelor" There is a visible hint of viciousness in his eyes while whispering in Arnold's ears.

Arnold smiled and distanced himself from Jaime.

"I know this won't be an easy fight, but I know you can survive my best friend," Arnold replied jokingly.

Jaime showed a fake smile mixed with annoyance, he knew that Arnold was not referring to the fight outside the city but his wife's anger when she found out that he had come to the romantic floor before.

"Okay let us talk about real business, we need to prepare 20 shield-specialized mecha, 20 sword-specialized mecha, and 10 war hammer-specialized mecha. Same old drill for taking down the extraordinary beast that specializes in defense." Jaime seriously ordered Arnold.

Arnold nodded and complied with Jaime's request,

"Oh, I noticed that Klein was beside you. Are you going to take him to the battlefield? You should assign a retainer for him so that someone will be able to protect him."

Jaime agreed with what Arnold said, even though Klein didn't need the protector, in truth, nobody knew beside him that Klein was just hiding his ability.

It's better to just hide it for now because they don't know if there's a spy inside the City. Helck Clan's enemies might be alarmed once they learn that his son is a monstrous genius.

Klein saw Lieutenant Arvin approaching in their direction. He thought of an idea.

"Dad, I think it would be better if Lieutenant Arvin accompanies me to be my protector" Klein requested to Jaime.

Klein knows that Lieutenant Arvin is an Elite soldier who has just been promoted, he is the best protector, especially if something unexpected happens on the battlefield, he can easily escape since he is much stronger than him.

" Wow you have good eyesight boy, Lieutenant Arvin is one of our excellent soldiers, at the age of 25 he is already an elite knight. " Arnold commented in agreement to Klein's suggestion.

Jaime at the same time called out for Lieutenant Arvin to come to them.

Arvin was stunned, he had no idea why the City Lord was calling for him this time. He just came towards their direction to report that the City Lord Mecha was now prepared to be used.

"Lieutenant Arvin, I now tasked you to protect my son and act as his retainer during the fight, understood?" Jaime asked in a military tone.

Arvin was stunned but still offered a salute to Jaime.

"sir, yes sir".
