I was reborn as a Cannon Fodder

Chu Hua realizes she has been living inside of a novel for 17 years when she discovers the secret dark side of the girl she likes. The novel was called 'Blood Garden' and resolved around a young highschool senior girl surviving in a haunted school. This senior was best friends with the minor BOSS until the start of the horror, since the minor BOSS had been affected mentally by one of the haunted school's monsters, making her lose control and become a ruthless two faced devil until her facade crumbled and died halfway through the novel going crazy. Before that, a dozen of students had died to her hand, including the character Chu Hua was playing. She was one of the MC's fans, the one who foolishly tried to reveal the villain's dark side and died horribly inside of the bathroom a few pages after the start of the novel. ''Even if i'm like this, I will not to hurt you.'' whispered the minor BOSS Hei Fan while Chu Hua rested in her arms. The 'sleeping' person fought with teeth and nails inside her heart not to tremble and let her red ears show. ''Chu Hua, I will do my best to protect you, just rest assured and hold my thigh as much as you want.'' the MC Hong Li and the villain found eachother's eyes as the first said those heartwarming words. Little Chu Hua could swear there were sparks of tension in the air as both her hands were held by both girls. 'Could I have...messed the script by accident?' --- The cover was made and drawn by me, don't steal it please.

Chapter 3

The teacher moved strangely like a puppet, it's limbs twisting slightly for every second it stood on it's feets. Her skin had turned into an ugly gray and when she showed her face Chu Hua noticed her expression seemed abstent, her eyes where red and the lips that were firmly in a single line looked dry and pale with blood flowing out.

This was not her teacher anymore.

Hei Fan eyes darkened as the figure made a quick movement towards the younger girl, barely giving Chu Hua any time to rise her arms in a futile attempt of blocking the attack. It wasn't truly necessary, Hei Fan intercepted the teacher's sharp nails easily at the last second. Chu Hua fell as Hei Fan pushed the teacher away.

A group of shadows appeared as the dead being hit the ground with a growl, they were ghosts from other students and teachers who didn't delay a second before approaching Hei Fan with obviously bad intentions. Their faces were blurred and you couldn't recognice them not even from their clothes.

Being influenced by a ghost didn't mean having an automatic friendly relationship with other evils, Chu Hua noticed worriedly that Hei Fan wouldn't be an exception.

It would be bad to interfere since the girl was clearly strong enough—even stronger than herself— but also Chu Hua didn't want her to be discovered by other survivants, if the plot didn't follow the lines properly, would the world be destroyed or something? Wouldn't it be harder to survive?

'Hey System, do you have some magic way out of this?' she asked nervously.

[I am not a magical System. And Host still has not gained any plot points. I can't help.]

Huh?

Despite the formal way the System spoke, Chu Hua could almost imagine it fidgeting it's fingers ashamed as it said [Apologies. I forgot to explain about it, this is my first time helping a Host] She wondered if it was possible to ask for a return. Could systems be returned? Exchanged?

[Host, you're too mean] What mean, isn't it your job to help?

Biting her lips, Chu Hua looked around and tried to find some way to help the minor BOSS who kept holding the evil beings in line.

With an new clear idea in mind she finally stood and grabbed the tall girl by the wrist with the intention of running away through the left corridor. Unfortunately, Hei Fan was not willing to cooperate and only followed her plan after letting go and grabbing Chu Hua's hand instead with a glare.

They kept running and trying to lose the group of ghosts, a couple of students had walked off a classroom with pale faces and became the new objetive. Chu Hua didn't want to go back, when encountering a certain situation no human would be willing to court death, yet she still felt guilty and looked back only to find that all lights had turned off behind them.

'Is it your doing?' for the first time in a while she felt grateful to the silly system, but her hopes were crushed.

[Until Host meets this world's protagonist I won't get not even a single plot point, it wasn't me]

'Could it be...are you called Useless System?'

[...]

Without the system talking, she stopped watching the nothingness dazely and noticed a certain door while running which made her try to stop Hei Fan, almost falling again in the process. Hei Fan gifted her a death glare, gulping, Chu Hua could only pray.

''Senior I- Uh...I really need the Bathroom.'' she said looking at the girl's bathroom that seemed like heaven.

Hei Fan frowned recalling the fact Chu Hua had tried to go before everything started but never truly accomplished her needs. Without saying a word, she guided them in and made a single movement with her head, indicating for her to go after letting go of Chu Hua's small and soft hand.

Chu Hua didn't dare say it but she felt truly grateful for not being left inside all alone. The lights were tilting and there was a putrid smell comming from the last cubicule, she went to the first one without giving a second look to the feets peeking out from under the last door, her right eyelid was twitching.

While doing her needs, she decided to have a serious chat with this Useless System of hers.

Schools are scary but bathrooms are scarier. I don't even dare to look at the mirror for too long at night. The bath courtains must always remain open.

Chu Hua: I like horror stuff but i'm also easily frightened. (༎ຶ௰༎ຶ)
