Staking her claim

Sophia was about to turn and leave when she saw Anna drive out their car. But then she felt, why should she leave? She doesn't need to hide and she has all the right to make her presence known around him.

Sophia asked Anna to return to the office and she would come later as she had some work. After Anna drove away, Sophia walked towards the other side of the road and took long strides in Daniel's direction.

She saw that Daniel was about to sit in his car when the woman again reached out to him and this time Sophia held her hand by her wrist, halting her movements.

Sophia lightly pushed Tracy's hand back and gave Daniel a sharp look. Daniel was pleasantly surprised seeing Sophia here. He was about to ask her how did she find him? When he saw her giving him a sharp look. He looked at Tracy from the corner of his eyes quickly and now he felt afraid of being misunderstood.

"Can't you see he is trying to avoid you? You should see if your presence is welcomed or not before pestering others.", Sophia said in a soft yet sharp tone.

"Who are you to meddle in our business?", Tracy asked. She was rubbing her wrist with a painful expression as if Sophia broke her bones. She was trying to get some sympathy from Daniel but she has no idea that right now the only thing Daniel saw was his annoyed wife and he was thinking how to pacify her. And even if he did see her then too he wouldn't bother about an irrelevant person.

Sophia didn't answer her directly. Instead, she hooked her arm along with Daniel's. She looked at him sweetly, making Daniel nervous because he could see the sarcasm in her eyes. "Can you give me a ride to your home?", Sophia said with a pout on her face.

Daniel wanted to kiss her so hard at that moment. He looked at her pouting lips with so much intensity that Sophia blushed. Sophia averted her gaze and looked at Tracy to divert her mind. Tracy was fuming through her nostrils.

"Who do you think you are? Why would he take you to his house? You were telling me not to pester unwelcomed and now what are you doing?", Tracy said in her high-pitched voice that brought Daniel out of his thoughts. Daniel frowned hearing her words and then his eyes turned a shade darker, dangerously.

"He will gladly do that. Right?", Sophia said mischievously looking at Daniel.

Daniel's frown vanished looking at her twinkling eyes and he nodded his head with a beautiful smile, "With pleasure, my lady."

Sophia looked at him and gave Tracy a proud smile. Tracy felt her eyes would pop out of socket seeing Daniel smile and hearing his words, she felt like she was dreaming. Sophia forwarded her purse towards Daniel who took it with his unoccupied hand without any question. Tracy looked at him as he was some alien species.

Sophia felt as if she achieved some trophy seeing Tracy's shocked face. She felt less angry now seeing that he cooperated well with her. Daniel, on the other hand, was enjoying her cute antics.

Joe who was watching everything shook his head dramatically seeing Tracy. She should be glad that Sophia was here otherwise she would have been lying six feet under the ground for talking to his wife like that. His boss was only sweet and cordial around the love of his life, otherwise all people walk on thin ice around him fearing they might come under his wrath.

"Let's go.", Sophia said and Daniel nodded his head and put his hand on the car window and made Sophia sit inside the car. He didn't pay any attention to Tracy who was looking at all this standing there. He didn't even spare her a glance and sat beside Sophia. Joe took the passenger seat and the driver drove out.

Tracy was left standing there and she cursed under her breadth before walking towards the garage to drive her car out. She was lying earlier that she has no ride to take. She never compromises with her comfort so how was it possible that she would take a cab.

Sophia sat inside the car and didn't even spare a glance towards Daniel. Daniel was thinking hard trying to find ways to make her look at him. His eyes never left her face and Sophia could feel it but she was just pissed off for no reason.

"Sophia, how did you find me here?", Daniel asked thinking she might reply and he would get to make her talk and look at him. But let alone answering him, he felt that Sophia looked angrier than before. He was feeling confused when he saw Joe giving him weird glances through from the front seat.

Daniel shot daggers at him and Joe just looked outside. He wanted to help his boss but he didn't appreciate it. So, it's better to stay away from the matter of husband and wife.

"Did you come to have lunch? Weren't you meeting your friend today?", Daniel said softly and once again tried to make a small talk. Joe was seriously doubting his boss's IQ right now. He could see that if Daniel continued then he will only worsen the situation. He helplessly took out his phone thinking being a personal assistant is really tough.

Joe typed a message and sent it to Daniel and signalled with his eyes to Daniel to open his phone when the later ignored the notification. Daniel looked at Joe annoyedly and took out his phone. He wanted to beat Joe for disturbing him when he was trying to make his angry wife talk to him.

'Tell madam that you didn't go there to meet Tracy but her father.', Joe's message read and Daniel felt enlightened. He never thought that Sophia would be jealous because of what happened earlier so he didn't think in that direction.

He grinned thinking she was jealous for him. That means she has feelings for him. He gave a look of approval to Joe and kept his phone aside after sending Joe a text, 'Your year-end bonus is doubled.'
