Tournament, (3)

"Since we now have the two winners and the two which have lost we will now determine who comes in 6th and 5th place!" Callum called out.

"Healers can you please come over and heal Jayden and Xander." Callum called out as two people came over and healed all of their injuries.

"Xander and Jayden, please come up and fight for 5th place for the 3rd fight of the first round." Callum said as Jayden got up as he was already there.

"I-I think I'll just take 6th place. I surrender." Xander said with an awkward smile and rubbing the back of his head, "there is no way I could beat Jayden after seeing how he fought with Kiera."

"Very well." Callum said, "Sixth place goes to Xander and fifth place goes to Jayden!"

People in the seats around the arena started clapping and cheering before settling down after a while.

"For the first fight of the second round we have Tess vs Iris. Would both of you please come up." Callum gestured to Tess and Mio.

"Wimps." Jayden muttered as he left the centre of the arena as Tess and Mio walked past him and he looked visibly angry.

I knew that Tess has the elements of fire and water but I wondered what elements Mio would have.

Mio and Tess both came up and bowed before getting into a stance, preparing themselves.

'This will be where Tess loses and comes in fourth place. Mio can hide her aura and seems pretty strong. She IS part of the 'strongest' although Jayden wasn't too good. Though Tess will lose. That I am sure of.' I thought to myself.

I watched carefully as I examined every movement made in the battle that was about to begin.

"Ready?" Callum said, "BEGIN!"

(Tess POV)

"Ready?" Callum said so I nodded and Mio did the same. He then called out, "BEGIN!"

I stood there waiting for Mio to come at me but she was also on the defensive.

'Maybe she prefers defending over attacking? Should I be the aggressor. Kiera is watching as well! I told her I was mad. I hope she isn't upset with me, I feel like I'm being a big rude to her.' I thought to myself before remembering I need to make a move if Mio isn't.

I wanted to be cautious as I don't know which elements she possesses nor her aptitude with them. Although the same goes for her.

I leaped forward with my blade slightly in front of me and I swung down diagonally from her left to right side of her chest. She seemingly guessed that I would do that and dodged it with minimal movements and waited for my next move.

'How did she manage that? Did she read me like I did with Xander? I don't look where I strike though. I do the opposite.' I thought.

I pondered for a bit and came to a realisation.

'What if she knows I look in the opposite area to where I'm hitting? I'll look where I hit and see if that works.' I thought as I swung vertically from her right side, bottom to top. I looked exactly where I was swinging and Mio fell for it.

She rotated her body to make her left side turn so it wouldn't have been struck if I swung there but she miscalculated. Since I swung on the right I created a big cut along her arm so she quickly jumped back and looked my up and down before smiling.

"Figured your flaw out already, huh?" Mio said as she jumped in front of me and used a reverse grip on the daggers she held.

She swung her right dagger up diagonally from my bottom left to top right of my torso and with her left dagger she tried to stab my right thigh.

I moved my right leg backwards to avoid her strike to my thigh but my left side moved towards her other dagger resulting in me getting a deep cut in my hip up to my lower ribs.

I spun my sword and tried striking down from her head but she moved her daggers above her head and held them in a cross position and blocked my sword so I tried kicking her in the stomach.

She pushed my sword off her daggers and jumped back before running in circles around me.

Not knowing what to do I created a flame circle around myself and made 12 water bullets ready to fire off. My water bullets were compact and it made them able to easily pierce through objects and I used my fire magic to make the water boil so I could burn the skin of my target, Mio.

Mio saw my water bullets and my circle of fire, obviously, and used earth magic to make earth spikes within the circle I was in. I jumped away from the earth spikes which resulted in me getting hit by a dagger that Mio had thrown at me as she saw me jump.

'Ouch.'

I used the water bullets I made prior and shot four of them at Mio. One at her foot, one at her head and two at her torso. The remaining eight I shot in the air around her and I made a wall of boiling water behind Mio so she couldn't jump back to evade the bullets.

Having no choice but to face the bullets head on Mio held up her arm to use as a shield but before doing so she created a shield made of her earth magic and compressed it to make it stronger.

My water bullets didn't manage to get through her sturdy earth shield so I sent the boiling wall of water crashing down on Mio which she quickly responded to as she rotated and jumped through it with the shield blocking the water so she wouldn't get injured.

I jumped forwards at Mio with my sword and thrust it forward at her left shoulder blade but she blocked it with earth magic she created on the exact point I targeted.

'Right.. how did she know? She was facing the opposite direction?' I pondered but didn't have enough time to think as Mio began striking me with both her daggers.

The dagger she threw at me earlier wasn't on the ground or on me so Mio must have picked it up again but when? That doesn't matter because I had to defend.

I angled my sword in attempts to block both oncoming attacks from the two daggers but quite a few hits landed as many cuts started to build up and blood began seeping through my clothing.

'This doesn't look good.'
