Chapter 49: The Roots of Destiny

The Tree of Echoes towered above us, its ethereal glow casting a serene light across the meadow. Each orb of light adorning its branches pulsed gently, as if breathing life into a new era. The fight was over, but the weight of what lay ahead pressed down on me like an iron mantle. 

I glanced at Silvermane, who was tending to her wolves. Their once-brilliant fur was marred with ash and blood, but their spirits were unbroken. Ember sat nearby, her flames subdued yet steady, her gaze fixed on the sky above. 

"We did it," she said, breaking the silence. Her voice was calm but carried an edge of disbelief. 

"For now," Silvermane replied. Her sharp eyes swept the horizon, ever vigilant. "The Corruption may be scattered, but it's not gone. We've bought time, nothing more."
