A non-human girl

"Ayla Eloise!" The teacher's high-pitched voice, which was like a needle to ears, echoed through the entire classroom.

Ayla blinked her eyes before hastily standing up from her seat.

"Why Mrs Faira?" She asked, trying hard to appear as casual as possible.

"Why Mrs Faira?" The teacher repeated her words. Her voice filled with anger.

"This is not the first time I caught you daydreaming in class. Quickly come and solve the problem on the board." Saying that she threw a marker pen at Ayla. The pen hit Ayla's forehead and a red mark appeared on her fair, pale skin.

Ayla rubbed her forehead before approaching the board after picking up the marker pen. She glanced at the maths problem before swallowing her saliva in fear. She was always bad at maths. Not bad. Simply, it was terrible.

Ayla turned around and faced the teacher.

"Mrs Faira, I-I can't understand." She stammered.

Others prepared themselves to hear a good scolding. Mrs Faira was a teacher who blamed the students for half of her period. Everyone was used to that routine very well.

Ayla became the unlucky girl to be caught by her teacher two times in a row. The classmates couldn't help looking at the nervous girl with pity.

However, a rude girl whispered to her friend, "Ayla is a beauty with no brains."

Ayla clearly heard her and her misty blue eyes welled up in tears. She clenched her fists tightly.

'Mrs Faira, you must listen to me.' Looking into her teacher's eyes, she commanded in her mind.

Suddenly, a grand miracle happened and in front of the whole class, Mrs Faira actually patted Ayla's back lovingly!

"Baby, it's okay if you can't understand how to solve it. I'm here to guide you, don't worry, let me teach you, little cutie."

The teacher's voice was as sweet as honey, completely different from a moment ago.

Others: "..."

The rude girl and her friend: "..."

Ayla smiled as she nodded her head. Thereafter, she listened to her teacher solving the problem attentively.

"Now did you get it?" Mrs Faira asked patiently.

Ayla gave an awkward smile. "A bit."

Others thought that the teacher would definitely blame her for being dumb nevertheless, Mrs Faira's next words succeeded in cashing down their expectations.

"Okay, no problem. I'll teach you again."

This time, she started explaining the answer much slower.

"What about now... understood?"

Ayla scratched her head.

"Ms Faira, I'm a beauty with no brains. Hence, can you explain it again?" She deliberately raised her voice so that the rude girl Shakira could hear her.

Shakira's face paled when she saw that the teacher started solving the same problem for the third time.

Shakira found a correct answer before anyone as she was the class first. She was a maths genius. Thus she found this situation too troublesome.

"Isn't it too simple? Why can't you understand such a simpl..." Her voice stuck in her throat when she saw others' unhappy gazes towards her.

"Humph, we normal people aren't as smart as you, Shakira. So don't be so mean." A boy stated, looking upset and slightly pissed off.

Shakira instantly fell silent, looking away.

Ayla laughed in her heart, her gloomy mood instantly turned brighter.

"Thank you, ms." She came back to her seat and started writing down the answer without looking at the board.

Mrs Faira blinked her eyes in confusion. When she saw the answer on the board and the girl who was writing answers calmly, she was at a loss for words.

'What happened just now? Why do I feel like I'm the one who solved the question? These handwritings on the board are similar to mine.'

She dismissed her abnormal thoughts and started teaching the next part of the last lesson.

"Teacher, I can't understand this question. Can you help me solve it?" Shakira asked, standing up from her chair.

Although she was a maths genius, the question she pointed out was a complex one.

"Aren't you the class first? How can you be so dumb to ask the answers to such simple questions? Don't waste my time, you dummy!" Mrs Faira snapped at her.

Shakira: "..."

She was dumbfounded.

"Pfft." Others covered their mouths to prevent themselves from bursting out laughing.

Ayla giggled as well.

'Shakira, take it as a punishment for insulting me in front of others.'

Shakira glared at the teacher.

"You are so unfair." She screamed. "How can you treat students differently?"

Mrs Faira's chest rose up and down as she yelled, "Shakira, detention!"

Shakira went outside the classroom with a loud 'humph!'

"You... How did you do that?" Ayla's best friend poked her shoulder as she asked.

"Do what?" Ayla asked mysteriously.

Her bestie squinted her eyes as she stated, "I know there must be something wrong going on with you."

"Why do you think so?" Ayla asked, lowering her voice to avoid her teacher's attention.

"First of all, you are so mysterious unlike you used to be. The first time you were caught, Mrs Faira forgave you just because you said, 'Sorry, I forgot to do my homework.' Even the class first can't escape from her clutches but you..."

"What do you want me to do then?" Ayla asked lazily.

Harini sighed.

"Just tell me your secret."

Ayla shrugged her shoulders.

"I heard about a psychological problem with multiple personalities. Maybe Mrs Faira must be a mentally ill patient."

The students who heard Ayla gasped in shock before sparing Mrs Faira some weird stares.

"Why are you guys looking at me? Just do your work." The teacher roared as she played with her phone leisurely.

The class couldn't help thinking twice about Ayla's words. Maybe... she must be correct. The maths teacher probably should have a mental problem.

Derek, the son of a powerful minister, narrowed his eyes unhappily when he heard others' whisperings.

If Ayla was correct... he wouldn't want to continue learning from a psychopath.

'Hmm... I should report this to my dad.' He decided in his mind.

"Ayla... Ayla..." When the maths period was finally over, a girl from another class rushed towards Ayla, panting heavily.

"An old woman said that she wanted to meet you and it seems like it's urgent. You should come with me ASAP..." She didn't even take a rest as she blurted out in one go.

Ayla raised her eyebrows.

"An old woman wants to meet me? Who's she? Do I know her?"

The girl shook her head.

"I don't know. She said if you are unwilling to come, I'm required to tell you that she has the answers to your unsolved questions."

Ayla closed her books and stood up immediately.

"Okay, let's go."
