After sleeping for a few hours, Jin Wei woke up. As he got up from the bed, he noticed his watch, which previously had a blank screen, was constantly displaying the number 2 for some reason.
Jin Wei rubbed his eyes for a bit and rechecked it. Now, he was certain that the number 2 was displayed on his wristwatch.
"I guess I ranked second! And no matter what, this rank won't disappear unless my rank changes." Jin Wei muttered and began to stretch his body.
Then he noticed that it was currently 9 in the night. As he looked around, he noticed Victoria at her table reading some books she had taken from the library.
"What book are you reading?" Jin Wei asked casually.
As expected, he didn't get an answer. So Jin Wei just sighed and went to the bathroom to freshen up.
After 10 minutes, he finally got out of the bathroom, feeling completely refreshed, and wearing the same training suit.
Inside the bathroom, there was a washing machine that not only cleaned his clothes in about 2-3 minutes but also dried and ironed them at the same time. The entire process took only about 5 minutes, which was quite convenient.
Even after getting out, he noticed Victoria was still at her table, reading the same book with dedication, as if she was inside the book and nothing, in reality, mattered to her.
Jin Wei sighed and got near Victoria, who didn't even look at him when he got near her.
"Have you eaten anything yet?" Jin Wei asked calmly. But Victoria didn't reply at all, as if she was completely ignoring him.
Jin Wei was getting irritated with each passing moment. No one has ever dared to ignore him like this. But this girl knew no bounds.
Just because she was his favorite character in the novel didn't mean he would go around bootlicking her and forgive her every time.
But then an idea popped up in his head, and an evil smile formed on his face.
"Max Scarlet," Jin Wei muttered in a low voice, yet Victoria heard him loud and clear.
Victoria instantly got up from her chair and stood in front of Jin Wei with an angry look, narrowing her eyebrows.
"How did you know him?" Victoria asked in a not-so-friendly tone.
Jin Wei just looked at her face and smirked inside. Then he took Victoria's seat and sat on it with crossed legs.
"Well, why should I tell you that?" Jin Wei asked with a smug face.
Victoria, whose face was usually neutral, now showed anger and fury. Her red hair began to glow, giving the illusion that flames were coming out of her hair.
"If you maintain this attitude, it will be impossible for you to learn about your father, you know," Jin Wei said with a smirk.
Victoria wanted to curse but quickly shook her head and regained her composure. She saw that Jin Wei was ranked second while she was third, so his strength was higher than hers, and she couldn't beat him up. Otherwise, she would have beaten him up first and known the details later.
Seeing Victoria calm down, Jin Wei just smiled and said in a dominant tone as he pointed his finger toward her bed, "Well, sit here."
Although Victoria wanted to complain, her instinct warned her that she shouldn't mess with him. So she gritted her teeth and sat on her bed.
"That's a good girl," Jin Wei said with a smile, finally returning to his usual tone and not as dominating as before.
"Now tell me, how did you know my father?" Victoria asked.
"Is that important? You should be asking if he is alive or not, should you not?" Jin Wei replied with a smirk.
Victoria was now trembling in shock as some tears began to drop from her face.
"I-is h-he alive?" Victoria asked with a trembling voice as tears began to fall from her eyes nonstop.
Seeing Victoria crying, made Jin Wei feel something in his heart and he knew it wasn't a pleasant one, so he touched her face and cleaned her tears up.
"Sigh, don't cry, Victoria," Jin Wei said in a gentle tone and quickly withdrew his hand.
Victoria was a strong girl who didn't cry even when she received the news of her father's death. She promised herself that unless she took revenge for her father, she would never cry.
But now, knowing that her father, whom she thought was dead, might still be alive, made the sorrow she was holding in her heart burst out.
Even though she wasn't sure if she could still believe Jin Wei or not, the hope he gave her was enough.
"I-is he alive?" Victoria again asked for reassurance.
"Yeah, he should be still alive right now," Jin Wei replied in a calm and confident tone, making Victoria believe him more and more.
In times of crisis, humans like to hear what they wish was true from others. If someone says what they want to hear, they instantly believe them, even though deep down they know it isn't true.
Just like that, Victoria also believed Jin Wei's words, even though she wasn't sure if she could trust him or not.
After crying for a few minutes, Victoria finally regained her composure and asked with a heavy tone as she just stopped crying, "W-where is he right now?"
"Even if I tell you, you won't be able to save him," Jin Wei replied with a calm tone and got up from the chair.
Victoria also got up from the bed and hurriedly said in a demanding tone, "What do you mean I can't save him? Tell me where he is, right now."
"And what if I don't?" Jin Wei teased.
Victoria couldn't hold it anymore and released her energy. The pillows, bed cover, and some small stuff like that began to float in the air.
Jin Wei felt slightly heavier than usual, but it was easily manageable. Despite his cultivation being a 3-star Bronze rank, his strength matched that of some peak 6-star human cultivators due to his robust vampiric physique.
So a mere 2-star human cultivator like her, who didn't even learn to use the star energy properly yet, was nothing in his eyes. Seeing her trying to attack him made Jin Wei extremely angry and because of his ego, he finally lost his cool.
"Your little trick won't work on me, woman," Jin Wei said as he also released his energy, accompanied by a hint of killing intent.
Victoria instantly fell to the ground, and all those things that were floating before also fell.
Seeing Victoria trembling in fear, Jin Wei stopped releasing his killing intent and picked her up.
"Remember, Victoria, I don't like rude and disobedient girls. And you aren't even my girl yet, for whom I will overlook stuff like this. So don't cross your line," Jin Wei said in a threatening tone, further intensifying Victoria's fear.
But he quickly shook his head and controlled himself. Jin Wei wasn't planning on being this harsh, but his ego came in the way and now his plan was ruined once again.
Jin Wei first wanted to make a good impression on her and stick with her like those simps from anime, making her eventually fall for him. But now, even that was impossible.
"Sigh, I wasn't a simp, and no matter what, I can't act like them. So it's better to be myself rather than someone else just to make her fall for me," Jin Wei thought and once again made her sit down on her bed.
Jin Wei had never fallen for anyone in his life. He just went around sleeping with some women and dumped them when he was bored with them.
He knew that all that came after him was just after his money and not him. So they just used his money, and he used their body, and when he got bored, he just dumped them on the street.
But now it's different. After dying once, he realized just how lonely he was. So now, instead of just sleeping with some random used woman that can be found everywhere, he wanted to sleep with those whom he truly loved and who loved him back.
This is why he thought if he acted like those dense harem protagonists, he might be able to build a good big harem.
But he just realized that he couldn't be someone he wasn't. He will do what he wants and make others fall for the real him, not some different characters that he was just acting.
