"BREAK THAT BARRIER!" Screamed Talaith, a man wearing black armor that rode atop a huge horse, waving a mighty golden flag that adorns a red lion in the center. His deafening voice echoing through the ears of the small army in front of him.
At the head and center of said army, the heavens lit up with different colors above the spells from mages that continuously created a volley of blasts from an assortment of elements.
Deafening explosions were erupting one after another, roaring through the sky and landing at the black mansion in front of them. But the mansion, albeit being under so much punishment, doesn't get as much as a scratch. It's as if... the attacks were mere ant bites.
Then, from the front of the line, a knight wearing golden armor rode his horse towards Talaith.
The knight arrived after a few minutes and he stood in front of Talaith, crumbling before his very glare. "Sire, the barrier wo-won't hold!" The knight gulped.
Talaith just stared at the knight in total silence. Then he looked at the towering mansion that stood in front of him. Talaith then raised his hands, pointing at the sky-and in an instant, a huge black spear formed at the tip of his fingers. And slowly, he pointed his hand at the mansion and when his hands landed on the mansion and with a loud boom, the spear flew.
It whistled through the air, it completely consumed the fireballs, thunderbolts, torrents, boulders that it passed by that by the time it touched the barrier, it is already three times bigger than when it was launched.
But there was no explosion from the spear, no loud booms compared to when it was thrown but instead, the noise came from the continuous volley of spells that harass the barriers of the mansion.
Talaith then removed his helm. Freeing his long white hair as it danced along the strong winds caused by the continuous blasts. Then slowly, he stood up on his horse, his every movement heavy and with weight, even the simple lift of his fingers would suffocate the air that it passes through.
He stood on his black horse, revealing a ragged man with a chiseled face full of deep and long scars. His hair flying in the wind and so does his horse's mane. The two of them looked like nightmares. Talaith raised his flag that created a bright green barrier around his soldiers and with the other hand, he pointed at the spear. Then with his coarse lips, he whispered, "Come back to me, my love."
Not even a second after he spoke, a scream emanated from all around the battlefield. A woman's scream. A loud, ear-piercing shriek that made those hear it almost have their ears explode if not for Talaith's barrier.
The mages, soldiers and knights all ducked and covered their ears, some of them even have blood trickling down their ears despite Talaith's protection.
But over at the manor, the bright golden barrier that was covering every blade of grass is gradually being devoured by a dark mass that continues to envelop it. The scream went on and on, creating cracks in the soil and causing some of the army to eventually collapse… a number of them dead with bubbling mouths and writhing bodies that continued to shake under the harsh sound.
It was only after about 30minutes that the screaming stopped. A dreaded silence dawned on the field, some were disoriented while a few were splattered with their fellow soldiers blood. But after a few minutes, the soldiers were in the same formation they were before, as if nothing happened and as if their friends weren't lying beneath them with popped heads.
"By the will of the Gods…" Talaith Gently spoke, but his voice could be heard from every soldier's hearts and ears. "Slay these creatures that defile this world." He declared, pointing his spear at the manor in front of him.
Below, the soldiers carrying shields, spears and swords rushed forward, forming a spearhead formation with the mages in the middle.
Talaith then descended to his horse, the golden armored man sweating profusely behind him.
"Which family is this again?" Talaith asked.
"T-the Sissena Orcs, sire."
"Hmm…Kill them." Talaith commanded with a blank face. "You can do it, right?"
The knight suddenly perked up hearing Talaith's question, "Y-YES I CAN DO IT!" He screamed.
"Alright, don't let the orcs escape, they might go to another demon lord." Talaith gallantly proclaimed as he turns his horse opposite of the golden knight.
"Keep a man down long enough and the gutter becomes his home, Gilded Knight." Talaith smiled.
"G-gilded knight?!"
"if you accomplish this...yes."
"O-okay da- Sire!"
"Well then, I'll be off to the temporary camp now."
Right after Talaith left, the golden knight immediately turned his horse and caught up with the charging army.
"Gilded Knight...Gilded Knight…" He kept mumbling to himself while he cruises the morning sun with his also golden armored… horse.
He looked to his left while pursuing the army and the tall hills and snow capped mountains adored themselves in front of him, the beautiful sprouting flowers to greet the sun also greeted him while he mustered himself in the sweet smell that welcomed itself in his nose.
But his peaceful thoughts were interrupted with a loud boom. He stopped faced forward, and in front of him stood a man with three protruding horns, a long yellow kimono .
The Gilded Knight sighed, his hot breath coming out of the crevices on his helm. He stretched out one of his arms taking out a huge golden lance that tripled his size, appeared in his grasp. He held the lance and in full speed,
But before charging, he whispered to himself, "Bless me, oh my Goddess, Neit." Then, right after he prayed, his lance glowed with the lights of the rainbow. Then he charged. Straight at the figure ahead of him
Meanwhile, Talaith and his horse just entered a valley covered by steep peaks and a waterfall that formed a river serving as a moat for the camp in the middle. He entered the improvised walls and was greeted with cheers by the soldiers and officers that were on standby at the camp. But he remained silent, not responding to them. He simply continued on the path paved for him by the people.
He went straight to the center of the camp where the biggest tent is located. He stopped at the front of the tent and sighed before drawing the curtain open.
As Talaith entered the tent, he got greeted by a man in long robes. He had a clean cut, clean shave and sharp eyebrows. He then power walked towards Talaith and shook his hands.
"He-hello sir Ta-talaith." The man stuttered as he frantically shook the huge man's hands.
"Looking good, Bearach." Talaith smiled as he sat down on a chair, awkwardly receiving Bearach's hand. "So, you called for me?"
"O-oh um, Reyn-Reyna s—"
"Reyna?" Talaith suddenly perked up.
"H-hear me out." Bearach replied, waving his hands.
"Proceed." Talaith leaned back on his seat.
"W-we received a crystal mess-message from, um, Reyna…" He continued. Then looked at the armored man in front of him, looking at this with flaring eyes and a tumultuous air that suffocated even him.
"Is this the same Reyna?" Talaith asked in a deep tone.
"Y-yes.…"
"So my sister is… alive?"
Bearach was going to reply but he choked. He backed away a few steps and answered, "W-we do not know as well."
"Do we know where she is?"
"Yes…"
"Good... and later, fetch me some oranges. This continuous battling is really getting annoying."
"As you wish, Talaith." Bearach replied as he turned around and walked towards the exit of the tent.
"Oh, and I shall depart in less than a day Bearach, feed my horse."
"Isn't it too soon?" Bearach argued, turning his back again facing Talaith. "Plus, it will take you a few days to get to her location and we still have to attack some more families that the church tasked us to and if we don't do that! I think you, sire, would know the conseque—"
Then, in the blink of an eye, Talaith is in front of Bearach, his mouth covering the smaller man in front of him, glaring down like a towering devil.
"I.Will.Depart.Now." Talaith squinted his eyes at Beararch
"O-okay." Bearach stuttered, before struggling away from the big man's hand until he freed himself from it. Walking directly to the tent after.
Talaith was left there alone inside the tent with his thoughts but for now, only one thought circled in his mind, 'Those filthy demons had the damn guts to take my sister… '
If you actually reached here, thank you so much >.<
This is my first novel so I will put on a hiatus for a few days to sort my story out (Mainly concerning characters, world lore, next arcs, character arcs, antagonists and such.) because when I started this, it was merely a bathroom thought and what I had in mind were only the earlier chapters.
I made a discord server so that I can get opinions and suggestions from the people who read to this point. And that includes criticisms, advice, and the wrong things that you think I did.
