Just like before
Everything hurts
The one thought that crossed the boys mind as he awoke. The boy laid and pondered upon that one thought.
Why?
The boy wondered.
"What a weird drea—
Dusk stopped right in his tracks, a deep fear flowed through his body, doubt invaded his mind as he was welcomed by a ceiling that was vastly different from what he would consider home.
"W-where… Where?!" The boy panicked
"Momma s-said I c-can't leave the room…. I'm g-gonna be in trouble!"
Sweat furiously dripped down his head, his breathing became ragged and he started gasping for air as if he lacked it.
"I HAVE TO…. I have to… huh?"
Dusk slowly started to scan his surroundings, the old moldy ceiling, the hollow wood pillars supporting it, the carpet made of animal fur, the antique smell which filled the air in the vast room…. All of it unfamiliar to the boy.
Taking note of his environment, his breathing gradually returned to normal.
The boy swayed his head back and forth looking at what he thought to be weird artifacts hanging from the wall, the brooches and animals heads were the main attraction.
Dusk reached towards the wall
"Ugh—" he groaned in pain
"Ah…. This… I'm still dreaming."
He looked at his middle and lower body, he notcied the bones poking out and pieces of flesh still missing from the attack by the wolves, his pulsating skin slowly moving back together, as if it was living…..breathing.
"It's true I tell ya! " A voice shouted from outside the room.
The boy instinctively jumped back, creeping towards the corner of the room furtherst from the yelling.
"I saw it with me own eyes! The child had at least 4 fingers missing and when I got back it was only two! As if….as if it was magic!"
"Quit yer blabbering ya old fool, how could missing limbs suddenly just reappear?! Delusional I tell ya!"
Two voiced bickered back at each other, followed by quiet murmuring… there must be multiple people waiting outside that door.
The chatter slowly turned to silence
[Boom]
The boys eyes locked onto the entrance of the abode.
"Let's see if yer bite is as big as yer bark the—
What In thors hammer is this?!"
Two men entered the room, one of short stature but not lacking in structure, a stocky build to say the least, his hair a pale yellow with streaks of grey and a beard that reached his chest.
"…..Is this the child you speak of Egil?"
A man with a low pitched voice said, his body riddled in scars, his hair a deep red with a beard to match and the size of a giant.
"What other boy would it be you dope?!"
The blonde man retorted
"Aye….
The giant man stared at the frightened dusk, all tucked away in the corner, shaking in fear of his unknown surroundings and these unfamiliar people. But most importantly he was staring at the wounds on dusk' body healing right before his very eyes.
"....What is your name boy?"
A simple question…. If not for one major problem. They spoke a different language from what dusk was used to, only adding on to his confusion.
"I don't know what you're saying…"
The boy spoke as quiet as a mouse.
"Huh? Speak up boy!"
The red haired man yelled
The shivering boy started to curl into ball, too scared to speak.
"I said to speak up—
"I don't know what you're saying!"
The boy screamed back him
A look of anger, fear and confusion, all in one molded his expression.
"….hahaha….Ahahahahaha! Wounds that heal and the spirit of a warrior!"
The man yelled with a grin on his face. He rushed towards dusk, picking him up by his arm.
"L-let go of m—
[Thud]
The man burst through the door with dusk in hand. The boy was greeted by the faces of many citizens, men, women, children and elderly. Too much in shock to speak he simply observed.
For a brief moment they stood in silence, the crowd looked as if they were waiting in anticipation for something.
The main slowly lifted dusk arm, showing his torn muscle slowly starting to rebuild itself.
"ODIN HAS SENT US A CHAMPION!"
His voice bellowed
"RAHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
The crowd of people jumped in joy, hugging kissing and even nudging each other…. As if they just received the worlds biggest blessing.
And maybe it was, maybe this was the start of something great.
