The Boy Whose Scream Pierced the Sky : Vol 1/Chap 2

 [Swooosh!]

A cold breeze hit dusk' face, he took a couple steps back as to analyze the situation. He gave it a look of fear, surprise, and confusion…. but most of all, hope. He pondered in silence for a good while before resolving himself.

He slowly walked towards the mirror shaped light, he closed his eyes and reached his hands out. The closer he got, the tighter he closed his eyes.

          [𝔹𝕒𝕥𝕙𝕦𝕞𝕡….𝔹𝕒𝕥𝕙𝕦𝕞𝕡…𝔹𝕒𝕥𝕙𝕦𝕞𝕡]

His heart started to pulsate, sweat started to drip from his brow to the floor as he approached it.

         [𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗽 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗽 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗽 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗽 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗽]

And then

              [𝐏𝐬𝐡𝐡𝐡𝐡𝐡𝐩!]

 [ຟ໐໐໐໐໐໐໐໐hhhh]

A cold breeze blew gently yet firm in the boys ear, like a howl from a wolf in the dark of night. Dusk slowly opened his eyes and stared at the sight before him in disbelief.

Before his eyes was a frozen lake, a range of mountains and many withered trees still blooming beautiful white petals.. a sight you would never usually see on earth.

"Ha..haha..hahahaha, how long has it been since I dreamed?"

The boy jumped up and down in glee… the mere though of him dreaming is enough to bring him this much joy? Well for someone who's life is a nightmare, I can understand why he would be so happy over a dream…. However this is no dream.

                [ℂ𝕣𝕒𝕔𝕜]

The brief happiness the boy felt faded instantly as he could guess where the sound came from.

"Huh?"

           [𝒞𝓇𝒶𝒸𝓀.. 𝒸𝓇𝒶𝒸𝓀..𝒸𝓇𝓇𝓇𝓇]

The ice below him began to slowly shift

"Uhhh…. Maybe I should walk the other wa—

Before the boy could even get his sentence out the ice collapsed.

"AHHH-ghhh!"

The freezing water swiftly filled his mouth before he could even finish his scream, he flailed his arms and reached for the surface only to be swept under the remaining sheets of ice by the current of the water.

"Gargle gargle!!!"

The water filled slowly his lungs, his skin started turning different shades of blue, the light in his eyes started to dim…. Yet he isn't dying…. Is this what they've been doing to him? All for their entertainment?!

Even I had a hard time controlling my rage, this boys suffering will never end simply cause he was chosen to be an experiment….an unfair fate indeed.

              Many days passed

The boys pain only got worse overtime, his eyes fully dimmed, his organs frozen from the inside out, his skin nearly black…he looked like a lifeless doll…

              Two weeks passed

 [𝙃𝙪𝙛𝙛! 𝙃𝙪𝙛𝙛!]

Dusk finally emerged from the water, no part of his body should have been functioning, there was no strength left in that poor little vessel… yet with his will to live alone he pulled himself out from the water and onto a shore.

"Ah…auhhh…auhhhhh!"

The boy tried to talk but his tongue had yet to thaw and his jaw seemed to be stuck in place. Slowly but surely his body started returning to its normal color, the light in his eyes came back and it seemed like he forgot the previous events, just happy to be alive.

"W-w-where is t-this?"

He asked Still shivering he did his best to compose his words. "I-I wanna wake up now…."He started walking, not to any specific direction, just walking. It seemed he was looking for something, maybe a sign of life? Or maybe a place with warmth, a place with food perhaps? It could be all 3.

             [Owooooooo!]

Dusk froze in his tracks…. He may not have been able to see the wonders of his world, however he wasn't as naive to not know the howl of a wolf.

"…..what was that—"

His eyes darted to the scrawny mammals right in front of him. Their eyes locked onto dusk' body…. For some reason I sensed they were sorry for what they were about to do. Dusk bolted in the opposite direction of the wolves, running as fast as his little legs would carry him.

"I-I have to get back home!"

Full sprint ahead he rushed for his escape, however he was met with a cliff…. A fall he surely wouldn't survive…. If he was normal. The starving wolves tailed right behind him, desperate to fill their hungry belly's.

"Stop! Get awa—

A wolf came from the side and dug it's fangs into the boys throat…. The other wolves followed along and started tearing the boy from limb to limb.

"STOOOOOP!!!!! IM SORRY IM SORRY!!!! GET AWAY FROM ME!!!!"

His body constantly healed in the midst of getting torn to shreds…. Poor, poor boy…. But wait, why are the wolves staggering?

               [Whimper! Whimper!]

The wolves simultaneously started whining, black liquid started to leak from their mouths and eyes… is it because of the boy? Dusk took this chance to get away, he crawled near the edge of the cliff and reached his hand out for the sun…. Too far out, he fell from atop the cliff without even noticing. His eyes focused only on the sun with his arms reaching for it, and right when he started to pay attention to his surroundings.

                [Splat!]

His body laid sprawled out for all to see, blood leaking from every pore of his body.

"ℍ𝕖𝕪! 𝕎𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕚𝕤 𝕥𝕙𝕒𝕥?"

Dusk even with his vision blurred was able to make out that the figures he was seeing resembled humans. He reached out for them like he did the sun.

"𝕀𝕥'𝕤 𝕒 𝕓𝕠𝕪!"

"….what are they saying?"

The last words dusk uttered before losing consciousness, his head dropped and his face fully submerged into the snow.

"𝕀𝕤 𝕙𝕖 𝕕𝕖𝕒𝕕?"

"ℍ𝕖𝕝𝕝, 𝕀 𝕕𝕠𝕟'𝕥 𝕜𝕟𝕠𝕨… 𝕝𝕖𝕥'𝕤 𝕓𝕣𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕙𝕚𝕞 𝕓𝕒𝕔𝕜 𝕥𝕠 𝕤𝕙𝕠𝕨 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕖𝕝𝕕𝕖𝕣, 𝕨𝕖'𝕝𝕝 𝕜𝕟𝕠𝕨 𝕨𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕥𝕠 𝕕𝕠 𝕥𝕙𝕖𝕟."

The beings grabbed dusk' legs and dragged him back to their village.
