Chapter 61

At the charity party, Tony Stark drove his Audi R8 to the event. The Audi may have a lower profile compared to Batman's Lamborghini, but it's still an impressive ride. In fact, Audi sponsored the film by providing two R8s, one of which was used during filming but later got destroyed. The other one was given to Xu Can, the movie's director, as a gift.

Audi's CEO, Rupert Schneider, personally called Xu Can to express his admiration: "Xu, I love your films. This R8 is our gift to you, and we look forward to more collaborations in the future."

Schneider, known for his keen eye for talent, recognized Xu Can as a rising force in Hollywood. The partnership could be quite lucrative for Audi, with the potential for more product placements in future films.

Lately, Xu Can has preferred driving Tony Stark's car. Speaking of the movie, at the party, Tony encounters a female reporter who confronts him with photos showing that Stark Industries, supposedly out of the weapons business, is still selling arms. This revelation devastates Tony, as his weapons are causing destruction in the very place where his savior, Ethan, comes from. Innocent civilians were being harmed.

Filled with righteous anger, Tony confronts Obadiah Stane. Obadiah no longer hides his true intentions, revealing that the weapons division never ceased operations and that he has moved to oust Tony from the company. Tony realizes the battle lines have been drawn.

With the Mark 3 armor ready, Tony suits up in a dramatic sequence that highlights the assembly of the Iron Man suit. Each piece—legs, torso, arms, helmet—comes together with a metallic snap. When Tony dons the mask, the transformation is complete: Iron Man is born. The audience is completely captivated, not realizing that the entire suit was created with digital effects. The special effects are so convincing that even experts in the field are left in awe.

"Wow, did they really build a mech?" some audience members wonder.

With a blast, Iron Man takes to the skies, his thrusters roaring as he accelerates, breaking the sound barrier. Meanwhile, terrorists are attacking a village, holding civilians hostage. Iron Man swoops in like a divine being, his aerospace-grade armor deflecting gunfire as he takes out enemies with palm repulsors and shoulder-mounted missiles, executing precise strikes.

Even when the terrorists deploy an M1A1 Abrams tank, Iron Man remains undeterred. In Xu Can's version, instead of being improbably hit by a tank shell like in the original story, the tank fires at civilians, and Iron Man intercepts the shell, saving lives. The blast sends him flying, but his titanium alloy suit protects him. He recovers, evades another shot, and casually fires a mini-missile, destroying the tank in a spectacular explosion as he flies off without looking back.

As Iron Man finishes off the terrorists, he's detected by the U.S. military. Two F-22 Raptors are dispatched to intercept the unknown flying object. Air Force Colonel James "Rhodey" Rhodes, Tony's friend, senses something is off and contacts Tony.

"Tony? What are you up to?"

"Oh, just out for a drive," Tony responds.

"A drive? How are you breathing?"

"Jogging, really. Just in a canyon."

As Rhodey questions him, the F-22s lock onto Iron Man. Tony's suit accelerates, leaving the jets in his dust. The ensuing aerial chase is breathtaking, with Xu Can drawing inspiration from iconic air battles in "Top Gun 2," "Guardians of the Galaxy 2," and "The Wandering Earth 2." The chase is a thrilling cat-and-mouse game, with Iron Man eventually outmaneuvering the jets by clinging to the bottom of one of them, much to the shock of everyone at Air Force Command.

After the exhilarating chase, Tony returns home and faces Pepper Potts. He declares his new mission: "I need to protect those people, the ones in danger because of me." This line foreshadows Tony's journey, one filled with heroism, but also marked by his own mistakes.

Meanwhile, Obadiah has been working with terrorists to create a larger Iron Monger suit based on Tony's Mark 1 design. However, he cannot replicate the miniaturized arc reactor, so he steals the one from Tony's chest, leaving him on the brink of death. Just when all hope seems lost, Tony finds the first-generation reactor that Pepper had saved, reigniting his determination.

With evidence of Obadiah's treachery in hand, Pepper contacts S.H.I.E.L.D., but Obadiah powers up his Iron Monger suit and begins his rampage. Ordinary agents are no match for him, but Iron Man arrives just in time. The ensuing battle is brutal, with the two iron titans trading heavy blows, the sound of metal clashing echoing through the theater.

As their fight escalates, Tony realizes his reactor doesn't have enough power to sustain the battle. In a desperate move, he lures Iron Monger into the sky, where the extreme altitude causes Obadiah's suit to freeze. Obadiah plummets, but survives the fall. With his suit still functional, he nearly defeats Tony. In a final gambit, Tony has Pepper overload the large arc reactor at their factory, creating an explosion that destroys Iron Monger and kills Obadiah.

The next day, Stark Industries holds a press conference to address the battle. Agent Coulson of S.H.I.E.L.D. provides Tony with a carefully crafted cover story, but Tony, ever the maverick, goes off-script. Facing a room full of reporters, he hesitates before delivering the line that would resonate for a decade:

"I am Iron Man."

The audience erupts in applause as the film ends abruptly, leaving them exhilarated. As the first entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, "Iron Man" might not delve deeply into its anti-war themes, but it succeeds in delivering an entertaining, action-packed experience.

During the media Q&A, Xu Can fields a barrage of questions. One reporter asks, "Will there be an Avengers movie?"

"Yes, the Avengers are part of our plans. Our superhero movie series has already begun. Stay tuned for more live-action films from Galaxy Entertainment and Marvel."

"Is the Iron Man armor real?" another reporter inquires.

"The suit was created using a combination of motion capture and digital effects," Xu Can explains. "I formed a new team to ensure the realism of the special effects, and I hope to continue surprising audiences worldwide."

The audience is thrilled by the promise of more cutting-edge special effects in future films. As the press conference wraps up, Xu Can drops two bombshells: Spider-Man will indeed join the Avengers, and the sequel to his blockbuster "Spider-Man" will begin filming in the first quarter of the year, with a potential summer release.

The crowd goes wild, turning the premiere into an all-out celebration. Xu Can never expected that the next day, 80% of entertainment news would be focused on him, as he once again takes Hollywood by storm.
