Mid-November brought the highly anticipated North American premiere of "Gone Girl" at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood.

Among the throngs of movie buffs and Coke Cult devotees, Gillian Flynn found herself surrounded by adoring fans. Despite having experienced the fervor of book signings, the overwhelming cheers and calls of her name on the red carpet filled her with a palpable excitement.

Approaching the media area, facing a barrage of cameras and microphones, Gillian struggled to contain her elation. "I'm absolutely thrilled. I've dreamt of seeing my work adapted into a movie countless times, and now that it's here, I'm beside myself."

A reporter intervened, guiding the conversation. "Who would you like to thank the most?"

Without hesitation, Gillian exclaimed, "Martin, Martin Davis!" Her gratitude poured forth. "When this novel was just a spark of an idea, I confided in Martin. We were neighbors back then, and he encouraged me to turn that spark into a novel. From the inception to the adaptation, Martin's support made it all possible. Without him, there would be no 'Gone Girl.'"

Amid the clamor, a thunderous roar erupted from behind. Gillian turned to see Martin on the red carpet, basking in adulation. His mere presence commanded attention, drawing fervent cheers wherever he went.

As someone descended the stairs nearby, Cody Horn gently tugged at Alan Horn's sleeve, directing his attention. Alan turned, spotting Jon Berg and Daniel descending from the second floor.

Martin also noticed their approach. Daniel nodded in their direction, and Martin reciprocated with a nod.

Quickly traversing the space between them, Jon Berg extended his hand, initiating a handshake with Alan. "It's been a while since our last encounter. Unexpected to meet you here today."

Alan responded with a polite smile. "Indeed, we've both been quite occupied with work."

Glancing at Martin, Jon added, "Martin's films have provided an opportunity for two busy individuals like us to cross paths."

When former colleagues meet, there's always plenty to discuss. Jon continued, "Starting next year, Warner Pictures has a lineup of big-budget releases. You must attend the premieres to enjoy them."

Alan reciprocated, "You're always welcome to attend Disney Studios' premieres as well."

Jon affirmed, "That's the plan."

With no further exchange, Jon gestured towards the theater entrance and made his way inside.

As they walked, Jon leaned towards Daniel, whispering, "Hiring him as the president of Disney Pictures after the losses from 'Terminator 2018' shows poor judgment from the Walt Disney board."

Daniel, familiar with the industry dynamics, defended, "He's still highly capable. Warner owes much of its success to his contributions."

Uninterested in further discussion, Jon continued towards the theater without engaging Daniel any further.

Meanwhile, Martin strolled alongside Alan Horn and his daughter.

Alan inquired, "I heard you and Louise signed a collaboration agreement with Graham King's GK Pictures for a new film?"

Martin confirmed, "That's correct. GK Pictures serves as the primary producer, with our company contributing to the investment."

Having reached a previous agreement with a production budget of $65 million, Alan suggested, "Let's arrange a meeting with Graham sometime. This film seems suitable for Disney Pictures to distribute."

Martin asserted, "I plan to push for an Oscar campaign for this film, with significant resources invested during awards season."

Expressing confidence in Martin and Louise, as well as Graham's reputation, Alan assured, "That shouldn't be an issue."

As they entered the theater, Martin bid farewell to the bustling lobby. Alan and his daughter proceeded to the first row, where Charlize Theron was already seated.

Noticing Martin's approach, Charlize whispered, "The premiere is imminent. We'll soon find out if your curse-removal method works."

Martin queried, "What if it doesn't?"

Martin interjected, "I can come to your aid anytime, anywhere now, so these aren't exactly rewards."

"I'm not bargaining," Charlize clarified, her resolve evident. "When we're together, consider me at your disposal, wherever and however you need me."

Martin wasn't taken aback. "You've broken free from your constraints," he observed.

Charlize nodded firmly. "After wasting nine years, how much happiness can I truly enjoy in nine years? I want to make up for lost time with you."

Leaning in closer, she whispered, "I've heard about your escapades with Julie and Aniston. It sounds like a blast, and I'm game to join in."

Martin's response was firm, "Just the two of us."

Just then, Mene sauntered over and plopped down beside Martin. "Boss, I've sorted them all out," he announced proudly.

Several crew members, including Charlize, were intrigued. "Did you sever ties with Isabelle Huppert and Sophie Marceau?" Charlize inquired.

Mene affirmed, "Absolutely. From now on, I'm committed to Celine Dion. She's my true love."

Martin remained skeptical, knowing about Mene's other interests, including Emma Thomas.

David Fincher, Gillian Flynn, and others soon joined the gathering, filling up the theater, which boasted a capacity of thousands.

Many attendees clutched copies of the original novel, "Gone Girl."
