CHAPTER ELEVEN

Jace’s POV

My body was racked with sobs, I didn’t know how much time have passed but by the time I was done, Ashley was halfway on my lap, hand rubbing the back of my neck as I finished crying on her shoulder.

I sniffled.

I felt her smile. Are you done?

I nodded against her shoulder. I loosened my arms around her waist and she stood up, staring at my grandfather with a smile. I felt my eyes were really swollen since my vision really blurry, everything felt sticky.

"Would you mind if I played something?” She gestured to the grand piano with her arm, elegance etched in every gesture.

She always thought of herself as a clumsy potato but I could see her for she really was.

When she wasn’t unconscious of herself, she shined the brightest. Like now, as she offered solace and closure for the both of us.
