The door opened and James brought her the glass of juice. She looked at him. Her face a composed mask. She suddenly smiled and looked at him.
"Absolutely!" She said enthusiastically.
"Absolutely what love?" He asked puzzled.
Luna Mae and Amelia chuckled and Dr. Black face palmed.
"Absolutely I will be your wife and Luna!" She said.
Both Jax and Jewel broke out in a case of zoomies howling in joy.
James came forward and knelt down pulling the ring out his pocket. He tenderly lifted her hand and placed the ring onto her finger. He kissed it and her hand. His heart bursting with joy.
Dr. Black broke the silence moments later announcing she needed to return to the hospital and stating again that Jessa needed rest. Maybe a nice long bath, solo, as she caught the look on their faces. She then took her leave dragging Lloyd with her.
"Think they'll heed you doc?" Lloyd asked as they took the elevator down.
"They better, or I'll drag her back to the hospital myself." She said through gritted teeth. She worried for their future Luna. She needed to recover. Needed to rest to do so. She made a mental note to check on the blood work she sent off on her when she got back to her office. She was still plagued by a feeling that there was more to the future Luna than the eye meets. Maybe something the future Luna herself doesn't even know.
Back in the room Luna Mae shooed James out and into his own room to get ready for the day and pack business. He has responsibilities to the pack and their businesses and the doctor said that Jessa needed rest. She'd finished her food and she was feeling drowsy so Luna Mae tucked her into the blanket while Amelia took the tray into the kitchen to clean up the dishes. She then went on to her own room to tidy up and relax before she had to help make dinner for the pack. Her pack. She thoroughly enjoyed cooking. It was one of her greatest passions. And the kitchen here was run by a couple. They were in their late forties and the most nurturing and patient people she'd ever met. They reminded her of her mother. She'd never known her father, but David felt so much like a father to her already and it had only been a day. His wife Rosalind was insistent she be called Roz and she was warm and motherly. They had a daughter a year younger than Amelia herself. And two sons and another daughter older than her.
Amelia lay down on the bed on her stomach wondering how she'd come to be in such an amazing life. She'd been born in one of the lowest statuses and treated as such. Now she was here. In a house full of amazing and caring people. Status and rank meant little. Omegas were not slaves. They were treated as equals. Not one person she'd met has treated her any less than. It was amazing. She missed luxe though. She feared her wolf would never return to her. She hadn't been terribly strong, but she was no weakling either. Just needed training. She knew she was still there. Somewhere. Perhaps the doctor could help her there.
Amelia could remember when Luxe left her. It was right after Jonas rejected her and Hanny sold her off to Lucian. He and Heath took turns that night raping her and beating her. They cut her and tore at her. Gouged her flesh. They were monsters. Both of them. She shivered as she recalled how they taunted her as they shoved themselves into her not caring that it hurt her or that she bled. How they slapped her for crying out. The painful bites they clamped onto her breasts and stomach. And at the very end, when she felt sure she'd die, Jonas, the gammas son, her mate, rejecting her again then raping her. Leaving her broken and bleeding on the shower floor. He spat on her and stalked out laughing with the others. She accepted his rejection in no time and returned it. He stopped short the pain washing over him. He knew she'd severed her side of the bond. He turned back and kicked her in her stomach and walked away once more. She lost consciousness.
She woke up and she was in her bed with Jessa wiping her head with a cool rag. She felt like she had died and clawed her way back to living. Luxe had healed her to the best of her ability but was quiet and withdrawn. She didn't realize until later that she was gone altogether without so much as a goodbye. She had to find out why. She had to find out how to bring her wolf back to her.
She had three hours before dinner needed to be started. She threw on her shoes and a sweater and headed out. On the way to the elevator she ran into Roz.
"Stepping out dear?" She asked
"Yes, I'll be back in time for starting dinner. I'm just popping over to the hospital a moment."
"Are you feeling ill dear? I'll have to insist that I drive you. Come on." Roz's face filled with motherly concern.
"I want to ask the doctor about something. I hate wasting her time. But I don't know who else to go to. Roz, my past life was not good. After a particularly cruel treatment, luxe left me. She's my wolf. I don't know why or how to get her back or if I can. But I have to try. I still feel the bond but it's weak." She blurted out tears springing to her eyes. "It's been nearly a year!"
"Oh my. Dear. That's awful. I'd say if it can be done, Dr. Black is your best bet. She or the elders of the tribe. I'll ring them to meet there." With that Roz guided her to the car and pulled away heading to the pack hospital.
Once inside with Roz holding her hand and encouraging her to, she revealed her past. The awful things they did to her. Some of it was no surprise to Dr. Black. She'd noted the damages the young woman had suffered. The means of how certainly did. And sweet Roz, steady as you go, maternal Roz let out a growl as she and her wolf Lana heard what this child had been put through.
The elders sent the most senior memeber. Jason was a man who was likely older than time itself, but still possessed the spryness of a man a third of his age. He was leaned on his walking stick and growled just as vigorously as Roz had when he heard her story. He scratched his balding head and thought a moment.
"Well my dear, wolvesbane is all I know that can keep a wolf at bay. So strong is our bond with our wolves. Question is, how is it still happening." He pondered.
Suddenly Dr. Black had a thought. She gasped aloud.
"What is it Jenine?" Roz asked.
"I need to get her into a full body CT scan now." She said as she whisked Amelia down the hall.
Once the scan was completed she was enraged. She couldn't believe the level of depravity some people could possess. The small plastic straw under the girls right arm was originally intended to give small continuous doses of birth control. Goddess only knows what is in it, but she had a suspicion. She sighed and wheeled a very worried Amelia back to the consultation room.
