While rubbing my neck before blowing my freshly cut nails, I realized how a couple of hours had passed as I looked to the emerging sunlight which had begun caressing me as I sat right by the transparent windows of McDonalds and rolled my thumb through a couple of pictures while waiting for my Mr (Swiped) Right.
"If I had Paul Walker's ride I'd definitely come crash in the outskirts of your heart." I read out silently after scrolling to the to our Badoo chats and smiled to the realization of how much it still had me flattered.
"Woah, that would leave a dent in my heart."
My response was a deliberately slow but wondering as to why I had even responded left me even more irritated by the shitty chats of the junk food lovers whose chewy voices filled the background.
"Where the heck is this guy?" I asked myself as I checked the time, realizing that he was already a minute late. "Maybe he was a catfish after all." My inner voice wasted no time is concluding the obvious.
Beep! Notification alert: "The way you're so hot in purple, I hope I don't burn my lips while kissing you."
I pulled my lips together to avoid a smile, before tapping back into Badoo and going over his pictures again, just before adjusting my afro buns and pretending not to be spooked by the way he was stalking me from somewhere nearby.
Beep! Notification alert: "P.S. If my look too wet they are just anxiously melting to meet yours."
Enough was enough, I finally smiled and turned around to look for this discreet stalker - whose poet obviously wasn't enough to forgive him for any potential catfish. Although I was slightly turned off, I still adjusted my afro buns which were fairly black but with touches of ginger sprinkles at the top - my signature style for the break until my return to campus.
Ginger as the sprinkles were, they still matched with my big light brown long sleeve top that had checkered boxes of caramel and light dots of bronze. Such golden feminism of a tom boy, of a shirt which comfortably accommodated my small, puffy boobs, whilst complimenting the brownish, khaki slacks that stylishly covered my shining black boots.
"Looking like an angel so much that kissing you might just give me wings," his voice and tone was not as sweet as it soon handsomely echoed after I had turned around to the tall, non-bearded athlete who had little dreadlocks that ran around his head while forming a cute cloud that hung above his averagely handsome face.
"Took your sweet time didn't you." my smile atoned for my sweet complaint.
"Will this make you forgive me?" He lowered his eyelids and gaze before taking out a rose from the pocket of his baby blue jean jacket.
"How cheesy can you be?" I blushed above my smile and cupped my mouth whilst turning to the busy streets that walked and drove past us, before I flew my gaze back to him and grabbed the roses just as he brought himself to hug me - just tight enough for me to feels the blocked that were built along his tummy. He was fit and athletic.
"How pretty can you be? If it were up to me I'd definitely steal your heart." He brushed his words over his tongue in a slow tone before sitting on the spinning chair and tilting it round enough to face me.
"Hope you don't mean that" I opened my eyes a little wider and clicked my lips without much flirting, before he placed on my shoulder.
"Sorry for touching you," His expression changed apologetically after seeing how my eyes jumped towards my vandalized shoulder. "I can be forward at times."
"You don't have to apologize."
"Just that you're cuter than my dream girl." His sentence left me shrugging my pink toes within my boots while digging my gaze into the depth of his eyes while trying to find the trap that entangled is cheesy lines. "I've been waiting to meet you ever since we matched, I've been crushing on your pictures in like forever.
"You're handsome too," I looked at him and sighed, "but my mom always told me not to judge a book by its cover."
"And my father always told me not to judge a girl by the color top she wore." His response was met with my sparkling eyes and I resisted the urge to redirect my attention to my vibrating and possibly ringing call.
"If you know so much about girls," I teased walking my two fingers onto his hand, "then why are you on Badoo?"
Not even his baby blue jean jacket could cover up his lack of response as the way he looked out the window left him looking vulnerably heartbroken. There was something about his handsome face and cute smile alongside his ripped torso which I had felt against my chest - that slightly turned me off.
He was also tall and very young and innocent looking to the point where the once off whore inside me left me picturing him as a potential virgin; if not a wannabe fuck boy. I honestly didn't get him as much as I wanted to.
But when he finally informed me before getting off his sit and kissing me on the cheek before walking over to the counter to place our orders, I was left hooked by the way his walk drew cute, feminine eyes towards him - especially despite how much he chose not to address those eyes with his - as though I were the only woman who existed to him right then in that very moment. Although the smart pants inside of me clearly informed me that he had only done that because he obviously knew and felt that my eyes were tracking him like a hawk.
Much justifiably, I had to watch him, most of the guys which had approached me at campus were those shy nice guys - maybe because I dressed like a nerd while attending classes. Yet Dingane seemed like the nice guy who had some nighttime bad boy tendencies. Not that I wanted to find out.
"Here's our burgers," his voice soon slapped me out of my mind as my thoughts of him had already driven down a string of thoughtful puzzles as I struggled to piece together what version of my prince charming Dingane would soon prove to be. "And how about we take a little walk in the park after this, I've got a little surprise to show you."
"Is it that poem you promised to write for me?" I asked as I unwrapped my burger while pulling my can of Pepsi closer.
"I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise!" he brought his straw to his lips and drank his guilt down his throat…
