Chapter 4:Attraction amidst tension

The following day in the office, Alice relentlessly made fun of Elizabeth. Alice had been jokingly making fun of Elizabeth ever since their previous meeting with Jack, sensing the possibility of romance. Alice tried to elicit information from Elizabeth, but she was met with lighthearted resistance because Elizabeth viewed Alice as the younger sister she had always been.

Alice started thinking about ways to find out more about Jack since she was determined to do so. In an effort to learn more about Jack and possibly figure out how to get him closer into Elizabeth's life, she made the decision to speak with Rachel. Alice approached Rachel and said, "I've been hoping to get a little background on Jack."

Who is Jack, and why, if I may ask, are you attempting to gain his information? said Rachel, who appeared a little perplexed. Alice brought up their conversations from the day before, when they had talked about their goal of persuading Elizabeth to settle down. Oh, you're referring about that Jack, Rachel thought. "I don't believe I know how to do that," she said.

Alice was unfazed and determined to find a solution to make their plan successful. Being Rachel, she offered a suggestion: "Well, you could always return back to the place where you two first met. Perhaps he will return today. Rachel's offer piqued Alice's interest, and she even detected a glimmer of optimism in it. She proclaimed, "That's a great idea," her resolve rekindled.

Then Alice made the choice to ask Rachel to go with her to the particular eatery where Elizabeth and Jack met. After some hesitation, Rachel gave in to Alice's irresistible charisma and agreed to go on this little excursion with her.
