Chapter 53: Fighting the mutant Vampires. 

Kai put his guard up. He sees the guy with the hood run away after breaking his clinic window. 

"It seems like he wanted me to follow him… running so slow and keep looking back." He smirks when he is looking at the guy in action. He grabs his cane and follows. 

Ryan teleported to the vicinity of Kai's House, just in case someone tries to target Skye as it's obviously a planned incident. 

"Gwen will be pissed if she wakes up and I'm not there." He just manages to get out of trouble before this happens.

A few blocks away, the runner finally stopped in front of a dark tunnel. 

"Is this the end of the line?" Kai asks the runner. "Yes, the end of the line... For you", the guy said. 

At the abandoned place with no one around, Kai is surrounded by 30 or 40 individuals. Some of them are crouching and walking with all their limbs like a dog. 

A guy that seems to be a leader walks to the front. He opens his hoods, displaying his grotesque appearance. *

Cher-* His chin spits into two, like in resident evil. His tongue changes into spiked barbs. He has a blue complexion instead of a normal one. 

"Does someone want to explain or do I need to learn monster talk first?" Kai is still calm facing the group. 

"Let her go. I have brought him here as you wanted." The bait demanded the leader. 

Hilos laughed, "Hahaha.. You can.. Take her.." he gestured to his subordinate to show the runner his loved one. The group split into two, making the runner see what was going on. 

His lover now has blood and bite marks all over her body. She is dead. The runner roars. Fangs show up in his mouth.

'Also a vampire,' Kai thought. The vampire tried to attack the mutant species, but it was helpless. Hilos grabs him by his neck and drains him of his blood. 

"Help… me…!" He tries to ask for help, but Kai ignores him. "I do not pity the vampires." 

Hilos laughed. "The doctor…you must be wondering why I didn't kill you yet. Because of you, I was TORTURED… FOR YEARS!" 

The blue boy became more unstable the more he wanted to explain. 

The mutant vampire calms down before continuing. "Now, I will make you suffer... Like I did.." 

"Excuse me.." Kai tries to say something. 

"What?" 

"I don't think we've ever met before?" He is confused. "I've killed all the vampires I've met. When did I torture you?" 

"You might not.. know me…" Hilos realizes it now. "You and that woman. Because you interfere to save her. Deacon Frost is now dead because of you…" 

"Isn't that guy the one who tortured you? So didn't that make me your savior instead?" 

"SHUT UP!! You are the cause of the leak of the plan... I'm going to kill you. But first, I'm going to kill the one you loved first."Hilos shows a disgusting smile. 

He already sent a group of five mutants to the doctor's house and wants to turn Skye into one of them. 

"I see, shall we wait together then? " Kai isn't afraid in the slightest. He is a little pissed that they wanted to touch his child, even when he knows it is useless for them to try. 

'When you do that, that means even your leader couldn't get out of the aftermath' he declares in his heart. 

Seeing Kai's composure, Hilos is infuriated. "No need... I'll kill you now!" The group of mutant vampires attacked Kai! He's facing a siege of enhanced vampires alone.

Twisting his cane head 180° clockwise, he pulls out his sword from it. "Give me your best shot," He said teasingly. The blade is coated with silver, but when he slashes the mutants, he is shocked. 'They didn't turn to ash?' 

Ryan sees the group of vampires jumping from building to building. 'They are stronger and faster than normal vampires. Wait... Is this the plot of Blade 2? Where the vampires are immune to silver, stake to the heart, and garlic?' 

As the group nears, he casts a spell instead of using the gun he prepared. "Tier 3 Magic:Sunspot". A blinding light is seen across 2 blocks in New York City. Even the unknowing vampires in the alley are dead because of it.  

The residents are clamoring because of the phenomena. But Ryan had already left the scene to go support Kai. 

Kai cuts the vampire's hand off, but they have enhanced regeneration. Their hands quickly joined back. "Damn it!", he exclaimed. A mutant manages to get through his defense and claws him in the back, leaving a long wound. 

"Dragon dance!" Kai changes his step and cuts off 3 vampires' heads. Even if it's cut off, they didn't die, just incapacitated. 

*SHRIEK* Hilos joins the fight and kicks Kai in the stomach while he is defending against another mutant. He tanked the kick and flew backward voluntarily, where he landed on his feet. 

"Hey ugly... How long have you turned to blue?" Kai asked the bastard.

 Hilos laughed. "A week, maybe more! Is that your last word?" 

Kai abandoned his battle stance instead. "My last word will be…Suck my ****!" 

Hilos is mad, but he hears someone chanting from behind the group. "Tier 3 magic:Sunspot!" this time the light didn't go too far, as they are deep into the sewer. 

"Arghh" Hilos screams. Instead of normal reddish fiery ashes, the mutant vampires turn to blue fiery ashes. 

"Doesn't the story end in three days? Even right then there are hundreds of these creatures." Kai said to the only other people there. 

Ryan walks to Kai's back and starts to heal it. The wounds are not that deep. Only his skin is affected.

 "This thing is like zombies, both humans and vampires are affected. They must be thousands of them now" Ryan hypothesized. 

"Are you thinking what I am thinking?" Kai said in excitement.

"Dude, I am you. Of course, I'll know." 

They said together "It's time to meet Blade!!" 

"I'll go!" Kai said quickly. 

"Why do you get to go? I want to go" Ryan said. 

They are fans of Blade as they watched the trilogy over and over as a kid. 

Kai smirks and says "Those guys want to find me. Not you. So I have justification. You don't" 

"I have justification too.." 

"What is it?" 

"I WANT TO MEET BLADE, THAT IS MY JUSTIFICATION!!" 

After an intense discussion. Ryan lost the case. 

"I'll take care of Skye. You'll go to Prague first and try to find Blade there. See which point in the story it is now. And keep your portkey anchored with you always, so that I can teleport anytime. And the most important thing." 

"Gets Blade signature... I know I know." Kai said in excitement. Ryan goes back home after that. Gwen isn't up yet so he's in the clear. 

'It's hard to be an eminence in the shadows.' He thought while snuggling under the blanket with his lover. 

'I should take a look at the European Health Consortium.' A plan is brewing in his mind. Lately, he needed a lot of money for the country building. 

"The vampires have a lot of money... right?" He forgot to say it inwardly, and it seems to bother Gwen. "Shhh, go back to sleep," He said to her while hugging her tightly. 

Kai walks home after the fight. When he returns to his clinic, he sees a lot of people in front of it, even his daughter is there. "Hey, that's him, Kai!!" Nina said.

Skye runs toward him. She sees some blood stains and torn spots on Kai's back. "Are you okay? Let's go to the hospital now!! RIGHT NOW!!" 

His arm is grabbed and pulled away by his daughter. "Wait a minute, I'm okay. I'm not even injured." he shows his torn backside, which surprisingly only the clothes are torn. It was thoroughly checked by the people there.

Lana, Domingo, Nina, Chris, Will, and many more kids he had supported to college, his neighbor, the immigrant family that he helps, and many more people in the community. 

Even the gangsters there are mobilized. They want to find the ones that break the clinic. 

Hell's Kitchen residents have unwritten rules. Never touch the clinic and its owner. Those who do will face the wrath of the entire community. 

"What happened?" Skye asks after calming down. 

"Nothing much, just some vandals on a dare." He tries to calm the people down, but his daughter is not helping. 

"And how did you tear your clothes, and whose blood is that?" 

Skye is suspicious, making him helpless. All the other people have already believed him before his daughter chimes in. Now, they become worried again. 

"It got torn when I'm in the sewer. And I don't know about the blood." Before Skye could chime in again, Kai karate chopped her head. 

"Okay, it seems like I have to go back to my hometown for a few days. You are staying with Nina until I come back. Is that okay with you Nin-s?" He turns to his assistant.

Nina just nods and asks him to be safe. 'It seems that there is more to it than just vandalism, but it's likely personal.'His close friends thought in their minds. 

Skye is adamant about going with him. "You've never brought me there, to your hometown. Why couldn't I come with? Unless it's dangerous? " 

Noticing Kai's hand move, Skye thinks that he wants to karate chop her again, so she closes her eyes. But instead, Kai patted her head gently. "Be respectful to Nina while I'm gone. And take care of yourself okay." 

She has never separated from Kai before. They did everything together. Skye didn't realize that she had become dependent on him. She vows in front of Kai. "I will become stronger. Much stronger. Even stronger than you. Then you'll bring me next time." 

Her eyes reddened and a drop of tears fell from her determined face. Kai wipes that tear off her. "Sure, I believe that." He settled a few things before booking a flight to Europe.

First, he needs to make trouble for Coulson. 

He texted the agent a picture. It's the broken windows of his clinic. Phil calls him directly after. 

"Don't you know the basic manner, don't call people if they texted you?" Kai greets teasingly. 

Phil on the other hand is a bit more serious. He knows that Kai won't text him if it's not important. "What happened?" 

"A monster. I'll send you a picture. It seems like a mutated vampire" 

Phil checks the message from Kai. It's a picture of the mutant vampire with its chin splitting and tendrils coming out of his mouth. 

Kai explained "He comes by to kill the doctor and the woman. I guess that's me and Barbara."

"Phil, that thing is highly parasitic. And it didn't have the weakness of a normal vampire. Silver and garlic didn't work on them" 

He said that the bait and his lover, who were both vampires, turned blue and stood back up into monsters while he was defending against the attack.

He didn't hide the monster's weakness from Phil. "Only UV light work" The agent becomes solemn when Kai tells him about their strength and regeneration. 

"So you're the one who turned the light on last night?" The shield is investigating the source of the light last night, but it seems unnecessary now. 

'Even normal vampires are as strong as red skulls. What will a mutated one be?' Phil ponders. He will never compare the monster to his idol, Captain America. But the nazi is okay. 

"What are you going to do now? Why do I hear plane engines?" He asks

"Travelling." Kai's tone is a little cold. Phil, who hears that, realizes the vampire did something that touches Kai's bottom line.

Phil is a bit worried. After all, Kai became entangled with the vampire business because of Shield. 

"I'm going to Europe. My windows will be Shield's responsibility, right?" Kai planned to get a free construction worker again. 

"You still didn't answer me what are you going to do" Phil didn't mind fixing the clinic. He's hoping that Kai won't be reckless.

"I am going to go crazy a little bit. After all, they sent a group to my house. It's only polite that I send myself to theirs." 

Kai ended the phone call after that. He didn't need to break his phone to avoid shield tracking. Just putting it in a storage ring will do. The signal from or to the outside world will be blocked by then.

"Kai, Wait!!" Phil is yelling into the phone, but all he can hear is *Beep*.

In shields headquarters. Coulson is anxious. He yells to the agents. "Find Kai's location. Now!" He shares the monster info with the director and Hill. Roughly how big of a threat this may be.

"Based on information from Kai, the monster has been active for nearly a week. With the rate of parasitization, it is estimated their number is in the thousands." a lower-level agent said shakily. This is a major threat to the world. 

Nick Fury is solemn. "Can you contact Blade?" the agent panicked even more. "Sir, 3 months ago, we lost all contact with Blade." 

Blade is suspicious of Shield at this time, and he loses contact because Whistler is captured by the vampires. He is focusing on finding his adoptive father now.

"Prepare for all possible outcomes. Send teams all over Europe to search for Blade and these blue monsters. Keep an eye for Kai while they are at it." Phil doesn't know why, but he feels like Kai is an important part of this.

He got appointed as the supervisor for the whole operation. At this time, Kai is on board Ryan's private plane. "More wine Mr. Vera?" The hot flight attendant who barely buttons up her blouse asks. He knows this girl.

"Hey, do you start work today, Yelena?" He asks while drinking from his glass.

"Yes, I am too bored on the island. You're going to fight, yes? Can I join?"

Some woman on the island asks Ryan if they can work in the Knight Industry yesterday when they meet. He had no problem with it as those who want to work are less than 20 people. 

There are also people like Yelena, who just want to have fun.

"Nope, this is my personal fight," Kai said. At first, he wanted to ask Ryan to teleport him to Europe when he was on the plane. But as he got interesting company, he flew to the place normally.

Yelena pouted. "Bring me to a fun place too." It looks like she is flirting, but honestly, they feel more like a family.

At this time, Ryan is investigating the consortium. Gwen is looking at him weirdly as he got up at 6 a.m. to Google stuff.  

"Hey Gwen, do you want some soup?" He feels uncomfortable with the looks, so he changes her attention.

Suddenly, Gwen said something else. "So, who are the girls that you hire yesterday?"

Ryan gulped.
