After Professor McGonagall gave 10 points to Gryffindor, the students in the class started to murmur among themselves. I took out the materials for the Transfiguration class and placed them on the table. Harry followed my lead and arranged the books on the table.
"Transfiguration is one of the most dangerous and complex spells you will learn at Hogwarts. Whoever messes with my class will leave and never come back. Be warned," Professor McGonagall said, looking at everyone grimly. She then proceeded to teach us the alphabet of Transfiguration.
After the explanation, Professor McGonagall gave each of us a matchbox and asked us to transfigure the matchstick into a needle. She handed me a matchbox and looked at me, which I understood as 'I hope you will do your best.'
I took my wand from my wand holster and looked at the wooden matchstick on the desk. I pointed my wand towards the wooden matchstick, took a deep breath, concentrated, and imagined the process of transforming the wooden matchstick into a silver needle.
The wooden matchstick started to transfigure from wooden to silver, and at the end of the transfiguration, there was a perfect needle in place. Professor McGonagall came to my table, took the needle, and examined it with a shocked expression. "10 points to Gryffindor for the flawless transfiguration done by Mr. Grindelwald," Professor McGonagall announced and looked at me with a little smile.
Suddenly, I felt a chill run down my spine. I looked around and found Hermione glaring at me, as if to say 'how dare you take my place. Next time, I will beat you.' I transfigured every matchstick to a silver needle, later transformed them back to their original state, and practiced it again and again.
"Stifen, how did you do it?" Harry asked me. "Yeah, how did you do it?" Ron asked me curiously, and Neville nodded. "First, take a look at the silver needle I transfigured," I gave them each one to analyze it closely. "Imagine the wooden matchstick transforming into the silver needle that you have pictured in your mind and wave your wand at the matchstick. Don't hold the wand stiffly," I told them. Hearing me, all three of them nodded.
Harry, Ron, and Neville concentrated and tried to transfigure the matchstick into a needle. While they were trying to transfigure the matchstick, I repeated the same process of transfiguring the matchstick to a needle and later turning it back to its original appearance to increase the transfiguration speed. Neville managed to turn the matchstick into a silver needle, and the other two managed to transform the wooden matchstick into a wooden needle. Hermione followed, and she transfigured it into half silver and half wooden needle.
"Well done, Mr. Grindelwald, for your explanation and helping your friends. 5 points to Gryffindor." After announcing, Professor McGonagall looked at Neville's transfigured silver needle and gave 5 points to Gryffindor again. After the class was finished, Neville looked at the schedule. "Our next class is Charms class."
"Harry, Stifen, I know where the Charm class is. Follow me," Ron asked me, Harry, and Neville to follow him. We went to the third floor and found a classroom with a gargoyle statue outside. When we opened the door and sat in the middle of the row, Harry sat on my right, and Ron sat on my left. Behind me, Neville sat with Samus on his right, and on his left, Hermione sat, looking at me intensely.
"Hey Ron, why does she look at me like I did something unforgivable to her?" I whispered to Ron. He turned back and looked at Hermione's intense glare. The class door was opened. "One of my favorite characters in the movie is here," I thought. A small, very cheerful wizard came into the class and stood on the pile of books, introducing himself.
"Good morning students, I am Filius Flitwick, your Charms teacher. I will be teaching you for the next seven years," Professor Flitwick introduced himself.
"For your first class, I will give you an introduction to Charms. This year, you will be learning the basic Charm spells in your first year," Professor Flitwick started to explain about the basics of Charms and how to wave the wand. "Today, I am going to teach you the Lumos Charm! This spell creates a light at the tip of the wand. The incantation to pronounce is LOO-mos, and its wand movement," Professor Flitwick told us as he demonstrated the wand movement.
Professor Flitwick gave us a demonstration, saying "Lumos," and a bright white light appeared on the tip of the wand. After seeing Professor's demonstration, I took my wand and waved it smoothly, saying calmly, "Lumos," and a bright light was produced from the tip of my wand.
"Congratulations, Mr. Grindelwald, for succeeding on your first try. 10 points to Gryffindor. Now, try to control the brightness of the light," he said and went to help others who needed it.
