Madame Bones was a serious woman with her job, she never took things lightly. She had to do it if she wanted to be a good boss for others, and also to keep Britain's magical community safe. It was hard, but it had to be done.
And for the past week, she could finally see a light at the end of the tunnel in this damned government full of nonsense. The Minister was trash, his under-secretary was worse. Most of the high-ranking workers were extremist purebloods who barely hid their opinions.
And today, after having an argument with the Minister and finally ending with the condemnations of the bombing, she thought she could get a break.
She was wrong.
Just as she had arrived outside her house, she came across a house elf and a man completely bloodied and missing more than half of one arm. The wound was fresh, but bandaged and tied above the wound with a rope. His face was pale, but he was breathing.
"What happened?! Who are you?!" Madame Bones pulled out her wand immediately.
"I'm... a house-elf. I brought Peter Pettigrew to Madame Bones... my master found him and they had a fight. Master sent me to deliver him," Dobby said quickly, messing up Amelia's last name.
"Peter Pettigrew?" Amelia asked doubtfully as she crouched down to try to hold Peter back from dying. It didn't matter if he was a criminal, he was useless dead.
"Yes, yes, that's true," Dobby moved a little closer to Amelia as he stretched his neck a little and opened his eyes.
"The master was shocked when the Dark Lord attacked him. Several masked men accompanied him. Peter Pettigrew was also there. The master realized that if this man was with the Dark Lord, then an injustice could have been done to another man."
"The master said that the lady might doubt Dobby's words, especially since he wasn't here, but she wanted to make sure that he wasn't being hunted and that the home was safe."
"Who is your master?" Amelia stopped checking Peter and looked Dobby straight in the eyes.
"Dobby's master is Harry Potter, ma'am. Dobby helps the master since the former evil master set him free thanks to Harry Potter's help."
"Evil master? Harry Potter?" Amelia almost choked when she understood that the resurgence of the dark lord now seemed really true.
"Lucius Malfoy, ma'am. Dobby's former master was the culprit behind what happened in Harry Potter's second year at Hogwarts. The Great Harry Potter set a trap for the former master, where he placed a sock in a book before passing it to the former master. Dobby received the book and was free."
"But Dobby wanted to help Harry Potter, so Dobby obeys Harry Potter."
"Is Harry Potter okay?"
"Yes ma'am. The master managed to escape, but he's making sure everything is okay and he won't be found."
"Also... Master Harry Potter says to please help his godfather Sirius Black. He says that the matter after his parents' death is not Sirius' fault, but the rat man's."
"He's also inviting him to his house once his godfather is free."
Amelia was about to start thinking, but she realized that Peter might die if they waited any longer.
"Tell Harry Potter that I will contact him once we question this man. And you have my word that we will get the truth out of his body."
"Dobby thanks," Dobby said with a smile before disappearing.
Amelia sighed before she took Peter and disappeared in the direction of St. Mungos. She cursed Harry Potter a little for taking up the little free time she had, but this might be too important and she had to do something. The Dark Lord had not only revived in some form, he was also beginning to move.
Elsewhere, Narcissa Malfoy was slamming a trunk of clothes shut as she sighed and watched her son place clothes in his own trunk. What happened just a few hours ago was too shocking. Not only had the manor been attacked, the Dark Lord was also seriously injured.
Some of Voldemort's screams of pain could still be heard from the room they were in.
Lucius had called Snape to try and help Voldemort, but they couldn't do anything. Snape didn't even know how the magic the Dark Lord was hit with worked. She shook her head, not wanting to think about it. Instead, she looked at her son, thinking about what they could do now. Staying in the manor wouldn't be safe, even Lucius had told them it was better for him to go somewhere else.
Now he had to stay somewhere else, and they didn't have too many options. Living in the house of families that follow Voldemort would be a mistake. It was already proven that this person could enter without being seen or heard. Besides, the attack on the houses of other Death Eaters days ago could be the work of this same person.
The Malfoy family had a lot of money, but they didn't have any other houses or mansions. They could buy something, but it would still take a while. The good thing about all this is that Draco would return to Hogwarts in a few days.
"I'll go get the things for Hogwarts," Draco said looking at his mother.
"Alright. Don't take too long, I think it's best to get out as soon as possible," Narcissa replied, receiving a quick nod from Draco. Neither of them wanted to stay in the manor with Voldemort screaming in pain and full of hatred.
Narcissa was about to levitate her trunk, but something caught her eye. On the windowsill was a small bird. The animal was nowhere to be seen. Frowning, Narcissa walked over and noticed that the bird was actually made of paper and when she opened the window, it moved and turned into a letter immediately.
Looking at the slowly falling letter, Narcissa immediately grabs it. It was more like a reflex, but it was already suspicious that this was on the window, right in the room where they were filling the trunks. Biting her lip a little, Narcissa decided to open the letter, but when she read it, she immediately paled.
The letter read: "If you want to save your son from the Dark Lord, meet me at Morgan's Cafe, Diagon Alley South Side. You are to sit at the table at the end on the right hand side, if you do not appear thirty minutes after 11:00 I will consider you not interested."
Narcissa gulped as the letter exploded into small pieces of paper.
As Narcissa's worry and fear only grew, Madame Bones walked out of a room in St. Mungos while rubbing her eyes tiredly.
With some potions and the proper treatment it was not difficult to stabilize Peter Pettigrew and wake him up to talk. Sadly, the man would not talk even under the threat of throwing him through the veil. He had said that it did not matter if he spoke or not, the Dark Lord would kill him anyway.
In the end they had to use Veritaserum on him forcibly.
That was good, because he spilled everything, from his plan to blame Sirius to what he had done all these years. The guards had been surprised to be looking after Peter Pettigrew, but they seemed only too happy to hear everything coming out of the rat's filthy mouth.
Amelia was planning to have a chat with Tonks and Kingsley.
But as she was about to head to the ministry to do the paperwork for what was next and also expecting a discussion with Cornelius, a small paper bird appeared flying down the hospital corridor before it turned into a letter in front of her.
"And now?" she asked herself wearily.
