"Mom I'm home. I have a bunch of homework. And you have to talk to my history teacher because I wasn't able to do the other family tree."

"That has to be the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Don't worry Emily I will take care of it. I made cookies you want some?"

"Yes please. Also I might need help later with my math. We are learning fractions and the way the teacher explains it makes no sense."

"Okay you start the other stuff and I will call your teacher. Then I will come help you."

" Thanks mom. See you in a bit. And make sure to give him a piece of my mind about it as well."

"Oh go on. I'll be up in a bit."

Conference call.....

"Hello Mrs. Mitchell this is Mrs. Jones. I am Emily's mother I wanted to talk to you about a family tree project that her History teacher Mr. Smithfield asked her to do. You see I adopted her at three years old. We know nothing about her family and her wants her to do two family tree projects. I don't think that is fair and I wanted you on the phone while I asked him."

" It is not my place to pry into students personal lives and none of our teachers should be doing it either. Thank you for contacting me first. And I would love to be on the phone while you ask."

"Thank you. Now how do we do this?"

"Don't worry I will do a conference call. You do all the talking I will listen until you need my help."

"Sounds good to me. let's do this. Hello Mr. Smithfield this is Mrs. Jones, Emily's mother. She said you asked me to call you."

"Yes ma'am I asked the class to do a family tree projects and she refused to do it. Um excuse me we did the family tree project. I helped her with it myself. She only did one half of it. I told her it had to be a full family tree."

"Excuse me but we don't know anything about the rest of her family. So we can't do it."

"Well then she will fail the project. She didn't complete it so she will fail it."

"Mr. Smithfield that is enough. You can not force someone to do something when they have now way of doing it. You have no right to penalize her for something she has no control over. she did what she could now stop it. She gets full credit for doing the project and I will be transferring her from you class. This call is done. I am sorry Mrs. Jones. I will let Emily know in the morning who her teacher will be."

"Thank you. I will tell her. Then we have to tackle fractions."

"Ah yes I know everyone is excited over them. Have a good day. Good bye."
