Mom's Call

Lusi was speechless on the balcony of her room. Her mind was still disturbed by the double date incident last night. She wondered, was this just a feeling, or did Rey just always pay attention to Jessica while watching the cinema earlier?

If it's true, why did Rey do that? What is the reason?

Lusi and everyone know that Rey cares about Jessica all this time, but as what?

'Should I ask Rey directly? But what if Rey misunderstood and thought that I didn't trust him? This is confusing.'

Lucy's mind was messed up right now.

Lusi immediately stood up as soon as she got an idea. The girl ran out of her room, and down the stairs to look for the whereabouts of Jessica.

"Why are you running around the house?"

Lusi turned towards the voice of Kevin who had just come out of his room.

"Have you seen Jessica??"

"Jessica? She is in the pool, just finished swimming with Vera!"

Without saying anything, Lusi went straight to the pool. As Kevin said, Jessica was there, she was swimming with Vera.

"Why don't you take me if you want to swim?!" exclaimed Lusi while sitting on the edge of the pool.

"It's your fault, I already called you until my voice was hoarse, but you didn't even come out of the room!" said Vera casually.

"I'm sleeping, so I can't hear!" said Lucy.

Lusi watched Jessica who was swimming so relaxed. The innocent one who never wants to wear a bikini, or swimsuit at the pool. Jessica wore a regular T-shirt and shorts. Maybe she is embarrassed because there is a man in this shared house, or she is not confident with her body shape. Who knows?

"Jess," said Lucy softly.

"Yes?"

"I'm curious, how come you two are close, huh?" asked Lusi matter-of-factly.

"You mean?"

After saying that, Jessica immediately followed Lusi, and sat beside the girl.

"You are with Rey."

Jessica smiled faintly then looked at the wavy pool water because Vera was still swimming to and fro.

"We have known each other since childhood, we also go to the same school, and our parents are very close. They always ask Rey to take care of me, that's why Rey cares for me.

Lusi stared fixedly at Jessica's face.

"Why did they tell Rey to take care of you? You're the same age! You're not a little sister who has to be taken care of!"

Jessica smiled broadly she glanced at Lusi while shaking her head slowly.

"I don't know, just ask Rey, maybe he knows the answer!"

Lucy scowled in annoyance.

The reason Lusi asked Jessica was that she didn't want to ask Rey directly. In vain she asked.

"By the way, why are you suddenly curious? Well, you all know that we have been close for a long time, why are you only now finding out?" asked Jessica while moving her legs to form small waves in the pool.

"Because now he's my boyfriend. I just don't like it when my boyfriend looks at other women, even if it's you, whether it's a friend, relative, or something!" cynical Lucy.

Lusi is a girl who always expresses her heart without a doubt. The most courageous, honest, and candid girl.

"So, you ask me like this because you don't like Rey looks at me?"

After asking, Jessica chuckled softly.

Isn't this funny? Lusi is confirming that Rey is her lover. The lover who was taken from Jessica, of course.

"Why are you laughing? Is something wrong?!" Lucy protested.

Jessica shook her head weakly.

"No, nothing's wrong. I even salute you! It's only right that we take care of what is already ours." Jessica said slowly.

Without caring for Lusi anymore, Jessica jumped back into the pool and swam after Vera.

Rey stared blankly at the screen of his cellphone, he was considering whether he should pick up his mother's call or not. As usual, her mother would interrogate him regarding Jessica. Does he take good care of Jessica, is Jessica okay, when are they planning to get married.

To be honest, Rey was tired and sick of hearing such questions.

They have restrained him since childhood. Rey doesn't have the freedom to make friends, make decisions, and do anything other than be with Jessica.

He always wondered, why did he have to do this? Why did he live only to be with Jessica?

Jessica is a very beautiful, kind, and loving girl. If only they weren't met under these conditions, Rey thought he might fall in love with the girl. However, with the doctrine from his family that he can only be with Jessica, Rey feels constrained.

'Should I tell her?' Rey thought to end it all. Until unconsciously the man pressed the screen and brought the cellphone to his ear.

"Why did it take so long?" snapped his mother as soon as the phone connected.

"What's the matter, ma'am?"

"Can you come home this weekend?"

"What for?"

"Your father is sick, maybe if he sees you and Jessica, he can recover quickly.

Well, if it's like this, what can he do?

"I'm very busy, ma'am. There's a lot of work in the office. Jessica also seems to be busy, not sure if we can go home this weekend." Rey tried to find an excuse to run away.

"You are more interested in work than your father?" cried Rey's mother.

He took a deep breath then leaned back on the sofa.

"Just let me go home alone because Jessica is very busy."

"You don't have to go home if not with Jessica! You know what dad is like. He will be sad and think like that if you go home alone!"

After saying that, the mother immediately ended the call.

Given his current bad relationship with Jessica, Rey wasn't sure if Jessica would want to be invited to his house. However, given the current situation, it was also not the right time for them to tell their families about the end of their arranged marriage.

Rey got up from the sofa to go to Jessica's room. At least, he should try. Maybe, Jessica would be kind and visit his father.

"What is it?" asked Jessica as soon as the door opened.

The girl looked unhappy to see Rey's presence in front of her room.

"My dad is sick. So mom asked us to come home this weekend," Rey said matter-of-factly.

"Why don't you just take Lucy?" cynical Jessica.

The girl was just trying to be nonchalant. She certainly cares about Rey's father's health. It's just that, it's hard for her if she has to pretend that nothing happened at Rey's house later.

"You know his condition, right? This isn't the time to tell them about us!"

"You're right, dad is sick, he can drop even more if he finds out that his proud son is a cheater. So what are you going to do? Lie to them? Do you want me to pretend that I'm still your fiancé?"

Rey was silent. It was annoying, but there was nothing else he could do anyway.

"Let dad be healthy first then we'll tell them the truth!"
