This is a very slow romance novel The novel may have realistic elements but it is a Work of FICTION. Please allow for some artistic license. There will be medical cases and scenario's included due to the main character (Li Xiuying) being a doctor. I have tried my best to explain as much of the medical terminology as possible. I'll also try and put some sources in where possible. ...........................................................................................

Qualified Doctors, Really?

Unity Hospital Entrance

Sometime later the car came to a stop and everyone exited through the door furthest from Li Xiuying. One of the twins was carrying the little bun.

Li Xiuying followed the family of five as they walked toward a group of doctors.

Bing Liu: "Elder Qin, CEO Qin, second master, third master, little master. I'm the hospital Director, Bing Liu. We've already prepared the best private room for the little master. Please follow me."

The Qin family walked with rushed steps following the director.

Li Xiuying followed the group, her eyes never leaving the little bun.

They entered a luxurious private room.

Elder Qin: "Jie put Little 4th down on the bed, Jun help your brother get Little 4th comfortable."

Lu Xiuying stood in the corner out of the way. No one seemed to have noticed her or if they did they didn't bother paying her any attention.

Elder Qin waved a hand at the doctors.

Elder Qin: "Hurry up and check on Little 4th." He then moved to sit down on a chair that was placed at the end of the bed.

Qin Jie and Qin Xian Jun sat on chairs on either side of Little 4th. The doctors came forward and tried to make an assessment of Little 4th's current condition.

"Little master we have to conduct an examination in order to figure out what's wrong. We just need to feel your tummy."

"Little master Qin we just want to help you."

Little 4th batted their hands away in frustration.

Elder Qin: "It's exactly as I said before on the phone. Little 4th said he's been having stomach pain again. It started about 3 hours ago and has been getting worse."

One of the doctors stepped forward. "Elder Qin, I'm Dr. Fu Meng, one of the pediatricians. I've been told that the Little Master has been suffering from abdominal migraines for quite some time?"

Dr. Fu Meng took another step toward elder Qin and completely ignored Little 4th.

Dr. Fu Meng: "How are little 4th's symptoms this time around?"

Elder Qin: "Yes, he was previously diagnosed with abdominal migraines. Is this the same thing again? It seems a little different from his past attacks. Zhen mentioned he feels nauseous and that there's pain all over his stomach this time around not just in the middle."

Dr. Fu Meng: "Elder Qin, I will examine and run some blood tests on little Qin but I feel this may just be a formality. In my professional opinion, it sounds like it may still be abdominal migraines; nausea and vomiting are often symptoms of this condition. I've read through the little master's medical records. He's been admitted to the hospital multiple times this year. I've seen you've tried diet control such as avoiding things like citrus fruits and chocolate but there has been no change. Additionally, pain relief hasn't worked. Again in my professional opinion, I think that instead of or alongside the abdominal migraines he may be experiencing a psychogenic disease."

The room fell into silence.

Dr. Fu Meng indicated towards one of the other doctors: "This is my colleague Dr. Cheng Wu he is a highly respected pediatric psychiatrist. I think it would be a good idea for him to speak to the little master."

CEO Qin who was initially leaning against the wall with his arms folded; stepped in front of Dr. Fu Meng.

CEO Qin: "You're saying he has a mental health illness?"

CEO Qin stood in front of Dr. Fu Meng and glared down at him.

Dr. Fu Meng broke into a cold sweat. He looked away not daring to meet CEO Qin's gaze.

Dr. Cheng Wu: "What Dr. Fu suggested could be a potential possibility. A psychogenic disease is thought to be a physical manifestation of mental stress or emotional upset. It seems to be the best fit for what the little Master has been experiencing. We have never been able to confirm an underlying organic cause for his symptoms. I would like to stress that we will still assess Little 4th physical status, however, this like Dr Fu said earlier would only be a formality. "

Li Xiuying had had enough.

Li Xiuying stepped forward and pointed at Dr. Fu Meng and Dr. Cheng Wu. "You and you, are you both actually qualified doctors?"

Everyone in the room was taken aback. They all shared the same thought; Where did this disheveled woman suddenly appear from?

Dr. Fu Meng: "Who are you? What are you doing here? How did you get in?"

Dr. Cheng Wu: "What right do you have to question our qualifications?!"

Dr. Fu Meng: "Someone like you couldn't possibly understand the complexities of..."

Li Xiuying cut him off.

Li Xiuying's icy voice: "Let me spell it out for you both because clearly, you are both more incompetent than I initially thought. Qin Zhen may have complained about abdominal pain in the past but you have to assess this current admission with fresh eyes. No one has even taken a history, done an examination or even checked his vitals yet let alone arranged investigations. These aren't just formalities, they're necessities. Additionally, neither of you has even bothered to look at Qin Zhen, you've been too busy pandering to Elder Qin and your delusion professional opinions. So how can you conclude it's a psychogenic illness without checking the patient's current physical state."

She took off her rucksack and opened the front pocket to pull out her ID card. She stepped towards the doctors and put her ID out in front of her for all to see.

Dr. Fu Meng and Dr. Cheng Wu stared incredulously at the ID before them. They both yelped in shock "You're actually a doctor?!"

Li Xiuying mockingly said: "So back to my original question. Are you both actually qualified doctors?"
