The twin next to the little bun spoke with undisguised disgust: "Who would want to abduct you? Are you money that everyone would want to pick up? Have you seen yourself? We're going to the hospital and because you were just hit with the car we're taking you there now as well."
The other twin began mumbling under his breath: "Who knows if you're trying to scam us. You might even keep coming back to us claiming compensation and damages. You should have looked where you were going. Are your eyes for decoration? Are your eyes on top of your head? Was your ancestor a frog?"
Li Xiuying "..."
They had made it completely her fault that they had hit her with their car. She admitted she wasn't paying attention but they were at least partially to blame.
Besides, was there any need to insult her after injuring her? Is this how the phrase adding insult to injury came about? She looked down at herself, her black hoody was clean enough well in comparison to her jeans were covered in mud and bits of who knows what. She felt her hair and pulled out a small twig which she stuffed in her pocket. She looked up again.
Li Xiuying: "Who are you all?"
She was met with complete silence.
Li Xiuying weighed up her options.
Option 1. She could try to escape but using the door handle backward was tricky enough and the prospect of jumping out of a moving car wasn't appealing.
Option 2. She could try and take someone hostage and tell them to stop the car, but she was only 5 ft 3" with stick-thin arms, no weapons and didn't even have the strength to truss a chicken right now. Besides she didn't really want to touch anyone and unless the situation was dire.
Li Xiuying didn't feel any sinister intent nor did she feel like they were going to harm her... except with their words. Plus she has never heard of news reports about a gang of five comprised of three handsome men, a little bun and an elderly gentleman going around abducting women off the streets in broad daylight. Li Xiuying concluded that the chance of them having sinister intentions was low.
She decided to go with Option 3. which was staying put for now. She needed to conserve her energy.
In the eerie quiet of the back seat, a loud stomach grumbling was heard.
Li Xiuying was hungry again, the calories of the one protein bar she had earlier were probably already worked off by her walk. She took off her rucksack and took out two protein bars and a bottle of water. She had just started eating when she felt the temperature in the car drop.
She looked up and found everyone staring at her again. She thought that maybe they were hungry.
She took out a few more protein bars from her bag and offered it to them. They turned their noses up at her and looked at her with disgust.
Li Xiuying shrugged her shoulders and continued eating.
She turned her attention to the little boy. The little boy was holding his stomach and there was a sheen of sweat on his forehead.
Li Xiuying: "Unwell? I can assess..."
A deep husky voice cut in: "Keep out of our business."
She looked in the direction of the cold voice. It was the 30-year-old man. His piercing black eyes looked at her with annoyance and revulsion, as if she were a piece of gum on the bottom of his shoe.
Li Xiuying could tell this man thought she was insignificant. She met the man's gaze and refused to look away. 'Who is this frost demon? I was only trying to help.'
She quietly assessed the frost demon.
He had midnight black hair that was perfectly styled, not a single hair was out of place. He had eyebrows like swords. His ebony eyes appeared as though they could see into the depths of your soul. He had a straight nose. His thin peach-colored lips didn't detract from the raw masculinity he exuded. He had a strong jawline. Overall it looked like his face was sculpted from jade by angels.
Li Xiuying's eyes glided down to the rest of his body. He wore what must have been a custom-made navy suit as it fit him perfectly, highlighting his athletic body and long legs. The man wore a crisp white shirt with a burgundy tie.
Male husky voice: "Did no one ever teach you it's rude to stare?" He frowned at the woman before him. He had never been stared at so blatantly. Most people wouldn't even dare to look him straight in the eye let alone ogle him so openly.
Li Xiuying continued to stare for a little longer. She mumbled to herself "I just have an appreciation for beauty."
He said a little louder with a hint of exasperation: "Are you done?"
Li Xiuying nodded subconsciously then shifted her gaze back to the little boy.
