Plan B

[Cinder Fall POV]

I arrive at the arena a few minutes before the first match begins and sit down in one of the front row seats, ready to enjoy the show.

With the virus I injected into the tower's systems, I got to pick the matchup for Mercury and Emerald myself.

Emerald's semblance has great potential, but for now, she is still weak. Using it requires her to concentrate and not currently be fighting, which is why Mercury's job will be to keep the opponents busy.

Victory over CFVY will be guaranteed, and Emerald's semblance will be a lot more useful for the finals.

The day starts with the commentators welcoming everyone to the arena. I don't really care, so I take out my scroll to read the news for any possible interruptions to my plan.

Pressing the button to turn it on, nothing happens. Really? These things almost never break down, but of course, it happens to me at this crucial time.

Pushing down my anger, I put away the broken scroll and focus on the commentators who are just about to reveal the first matchup.

"Well, Port, let us see who will be the first team to take the stage on this lovely day," Oobleck says.

You better enjoy this lovely day since it will be your last.

The screen display flickers between all the two person teams before naturally landing on Mercury and Emerald for team 1.

"Oh, interesting, those two indeed were a spectacle to see yesterday, lets see who they will be fighting against today."

My eyes pass over the spectators in the arena before landing on a man straight across from me, sending me a smirk.

Isn't that the guy who was wearing the armor in yesterday's match? Why is he looking at me like that, he can't possibly think he has a chance with me, right?

My thoughts get interrupted by Oobleck's voice "And looks like Emerald's and Mercury's opponents for the first match will be All Might, and Ancient One, Port who do you think is gonna win this match?"

I'm sorry, what? That's not what I picked.

"Hard to say considering we never even saw those two from team AICA fight in the first place yesterday, lets just hope they are as strong as their teammates from yesterday."

Looking over the arena, the man's smirk grows even bigger while looking at me.

I see how it is, looks like it's time for plan B.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[All Might POV]

Entering the arena, I hear Tony's voice in my ear. "Haha, you should have seen her face when the teams were announced, it was beautiful. Well, no, actually, it looked ugly, but that's what made it beautiful."

Tony and Selina are among the crowd watching the match while Ancient One and I are going out to fight Emerald and Mercury from Cinder's team.

This morning, Tony had already notified us about our opponents, telling everyone how the matchups were rigged. The plan is that I take on Mercury while Ancient One goes after Emerald.

Reaching the center part, the arena around us starts to change. "For the 2v2 matches, the arena will be split into four different biomes. For this match, those will be Forest, Savanna, Urban, and Geyser."

The girl standing opposite of us has a mix of anxiousness and confusion on her face, apparently not understanding why they are facing us, not CFVY. The man, however, seems confident, not caring about the change in their plan.

As the countdown begins, the two whispers something between each other before backing off and jumping into the grass at the exact moment the match starts.

"Let me take care of this one." The Ancient One steps forward, bringing forth dozens of small glowing orange blades before launching them all at the tall grass.

A second later, all the grass is cut down, but the duo is nowhere to be seen.

"They are quick," I say, looking at the empty field

"But not very sneaky," Ancient one follows up, casting a shield behind me to block the kick of Mercury and blowing him back.

"That's not the real one, just an illusion." She says after giving the man a quick look. "I will go catch the girl in the forest, you go find the real Mercury. He is hiding in a building in the urban biome."

With that, she creates a portal and disappears.

Picking up the fake Mercury, I throw him at one of the buildings in the Urban area, and sure enough, looking at the screen, his aura has not gone down at all.

Following him to the Urban area with lots of places for the real him to hide in, I take a moment to reflect on the best way to find him.

Well, the people in this world have aura to protect them, so I don't really have to hold back in fear of hurting the kid, do I?

Aiming at two buildings in front of me, I yell, "TEXAS SMASH!" and throw a punch that creates strong enough winds to blow both of them down.

After that attack, I feel something hit me on the side, looking over, I see another Mercury who has just kicked me.

"The fake ones don't really hurt, you know," I tell him, grabbing ahold of the leg still in the air and throw him into the last remaining building, his body flying through the air faster than the speed of sound.

"And with that one brutal attack, Mercury Black's aura is at 5%, meaning he is out of this fight!" One of the announcers says

Wait, that was the real one?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Ancient One POV]

Aura can be both a benefit and a disadvantage, and in this case, for the enemies, having aura is definitely a disadvantage.

Telling the fake Mercury apart from the real one was easy considering the difference in the amount of aura they have. The real one from before the two jumped into the grass had much more aura than the fake one.

Thanks to my experience in magic, I was able to master the usage of aura much quicker than my teammates letting me locate precisely where the enemies are by tracking their aura.

Coming out of the portal in the forest, I am almost immediately shot from the trees. To combat this, I create one portal right behind her and several others in front of the bullets' paths. Passing through the portals, the bullets all hit the unsuspecting Emerald in the back.

Surprised, she takes off, jumping from tree to tree to create some space between us. Apparently, though she did not learn her lesson as I just create another portal in front of her, making her teleport back to me.

Turning her pistols into daggers, she charges at me, trying to slash at my throat but gets by the sound of the commentators.

"And with that one brutal attack, Mercury Black's aura is at 5%, meaning he is out of this fight!"

"Wha-!?" Her eyes go wide, unable to believe that her partner lost so quickly. Quickly she tries to refocus on our fight, but it's too late.

I give her a quick smile before creating several bolts of pure energy that knock Emerald out of the fight.

"Emerald follows in her teammate's footsteps and is eliminated by lack of aura. Congratulations to the winners All Might and Ancient One." Port announces loudly, and the crowd cheers.

"Cinder just left," Selina reports through the communication device in my ear.

"She looked pretty pissed." Tony follows up, "Also, was it really okay to use your magic here? I mean, isn't it supposed to be like super secretive with the maidens and all that?"

"It will be fine, they will probably just think it's my semblance," I tell them while regrouping with All Might and leaving the arena.

We're leaving this world soon anyway. What's the worst that could happen?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Salem POV]

"So what you are telling me is that your plans got ruined by some snot-nosed brats, and now you need my help to accomplish the very task that I gave you?" I ask, looking at Cinder through a seer, my voice getting louder with every word.

On the other end, Cinder looks nervous and tries to defend herself with some stupid excuses that I'm not even listening to. There is no excuse for being defeated by some second-year students.

Still, we need the powers of the fall maiden, so something must be done, her report on that magic user was also interesting.

"Quiet," I say, and Cinder shuts up mid-sentence. "I'll send one of my newest experiments to do the job tomorrow, don't fail me again."

I shut down the communication, not waiting for her answer.

"Tyrian," I address the idiot standing next to my throne. He may be an idiot, but at least he is a loyal and strong idiot.

"Your orders, my grace?" He says, kneeling down beside me.

"You head over to Vale as well, see how much of Cinder's story on that magic-user is true."
