  Jenna Brooks POV

  "Olivia?"

Immediately, she lowered her head, "Would you like me to get you anything?" She asked again.

"I…"

I still couldn't believe my eyes. How could she be a maid? From what I've heard, she was from a wealthy family. Had she been lying to me all these while?

"If you don't need anything, I'll take my leave now," she added and turned to leave.

I sprung up and quickly grabbed her wrist, "Wait, Olivia. You have some explaining to do."

She slowly turned to me, and as if on cue, she suddenly sunk to the floor and started sobbing. I was taken aback. 'The' Olivia Downs was sobbing.

"This is all your fault, Jenna! You're a terrible friend." She said admist sobs.

My eyebrows scrunched together and my head tilted to one side, almost like a puppy who heard a funny noise. How was it any of my fault?

"I don't understand Olivia," I replied as I helped her up but she yanked my hands off.

"A good friend would notice what the other friend is going through but you didn't! You only became my friend because I'm one of the popular kids in school!" she accused.

"Olivia…I…"

"Yes, Jenna! And I'm pretty sure you'll tell everyone about me! Because that's what you are, a terrible friend." And with that, she walked out of my sight.

An ache started deep in my stomach. I looked down as I tried to blink back the tears that threatened to roll down my cheeks. Olivia was right, I couldn't notice what my friend was going through. I was blind to it. I don't deserve to be anyone's friend.

"Was that Olivia? She works here?!" I heard Jeanette's voice, she was standing by the stairway. She rushed to my side, "Oh my goodness! I can't believe it."

"Yes…" I trailed off.

"Jamie just called, after school classes are ending soon! We gotta go."

"Yeah, Jean. We should leave."

Jeanette hugged Summer one last time before we left, it was one hell of a hug.

  Knock!! Knock!! Knock!!

My eyes fluttered open due to the constant knock on the door. I hadn't stepped out of the room since I got back from school earlier this afternoon. I felt down and guilty about what happened between Olivia and I.

I got out of the bed and answered the door. It was Jeanette.

"Mum wants to know why you didn't come down for dinner." She said.

I forced a smile, "I'm fine, Jean. I'm not hungry."

"Alright, then. Whatever floats your boat."

She turned around and left. I closed the door and sat by the bed. Ten seconds later, there was another knock.

Jeanette never gets tired, does she?

I answered the door again but there was no one at the door. I stuck my head out the corridors, it was silent. Was someone trying to play a prank on me?

I caught sight of a paper on the floor and picked it up, 'Meet me at friends corner.'

I knew without a doubt that it was Conrad that wrote the note. No one else but us knew about friends corner which was also the rooftop. We both hung out there at night when we were kids.

I closed the door behind me and made my way up the stairs. As I stood by the rooftop door, I took a deep breath.

I opened the door to the rooftop, unsure of what to expect. My eyes widened as I took in the scene before me. The entire terrace was transformed into a wonderland, decorated with countless balloons and twinkling lights. I felt my breath catch as I read the words spelled out by the lights, "I'm so sorry."

"Conrad," I whispered, my voice barely audible. "What have you done?"

Suddenly, a soft melody filled the air, and I turned towards the source of the music. There, in the corner, stood Conrad, holding a small, beautifully decorated box.

"I know I messed up, Jenna," Conrad said. "And I'm truly sorry."

"Conrad," I finally spoke, my voice shaky. "I... I accept your apology. And I forgive you."

I could see relief wash over Conrad's face, and he took a step closer to me, extending the box he had been holding. Curiously, I gingerly reached out to accept it. Inside, I found a delicately crafted silver bracelet, adorned with a small charm that read 'Jenna'.

"It's a token of my apology," Conrad explained, "A reminder that no matter what, I'll always be here for you."

This was one of the best moments of my life. It felt like I had been transported into a whole new world.

We both sat on a bench and stared at the stars together. I would've considered it romantic if I wasn't worried about what Olivia said to me earlier today. It was still lingering in my head and it was stopping me from enjoying this rearly seen side of Conrad. I sighed multiple times and somehow, I think Conrad heard.

"Five," he said, turning to me.

"What?"

"You just sighed for the fifth time."

"Oh…"

"Yes, Jenna. Are you okay?"

No, I'm not!

"I'm good,"

He smiled at me, then carefully took my hands in his and gave them a gentle squeeze. It weirdly made me feel relaxed.

"I'm always here if you wanna talk,"

Hesitatively, I told him about what I found out about Olivia and what she said to me. I made sure to omit some details because I didn't want to get Jeanette in trouble.

"I feel really bad about myself." I said, my head down.

Conrad raised my chin up to make sure we were staring into each other's eyes as we talked. "I think I know what's happening. We have to work through what you're feeling," he stopped then gave me a warm smile. "For starters, why do you feel bad?"

"Because Olivia called me a terrible friend."

"And why did she call you a terrible friend?"

"She thinks I'll reveal her secret to everyone."

"But you don't plan on telling anyone, do you?"

"Of course not!"

"Exactly! What else did she say?"

I was reluctant at first but he gently squeezed my hands again. So warm and soft. Why does he keep doing that? At this point, I might end up blurting out my deepest secrets to him just because of a warm and soft hand squeeze.

I sighed, "She called me a terrible friend for not noticing what she was going through."

"And you feel like a terrible friend?"

"Yes."

"Did she ever for once talk to you about her living conditions?"

"No."I replied.

"Instead, she lied to everyone about having rich parents. She called you her friend, she should have told you, right?"

"Yes. She even lied to me about getting bracelets from Italy only for me to find out I could get it anywhere for a couple of bucks."

"Now, who do you think should feel bad?"

"Holy shit! She tried to gas light me! She tried to make me feel bad for what she did!"
