Chapter 2: Rebirth?

"Greetings, Gravitas. You have experienced a rebirth."

My heart skips a beat and the realization hits me like a sledgehammer... I died! How did this happen? I can't believe it.

I can finally understand what the disembodied voice is saying! But who is speaking to me? He sounds like a wise old man, maybe he knows what's going on with me? 

This is my chance to make sense of it all. Why does it already feel like I'm in over my own head on this one.

"Welcome to the Euthryia."

I take a deep breath, focus my mind, and try to begin to calm myself to my new reality. This must be the plot to some kind of Hell-hole building scenario… is this purgatory? 

This may be a chance to make a difference, to do something meaningful with my new life. All I do know is I have to get out of here and get back home, back to my family.

"You have been chosen to be guided to the land of Euthryia. The world is being threatened by evil forces. You must journey through various realms, fighting against mythical creatures while facing challenges to save the world."

Unable to see anything I begin to feel around for ways to grab my bearings, if only I had eyes to see, this is going to be very difficult learning how to survive with no eyesight. I begin panicking about it thinking there must be something to do about this.

I'm unable to understand anything that goes on around me. I only have the feeling of my internal structures of Hyphae and a faint sense of the environment interacting with my body, around me.

Without being warned, I begin to feel myself being moved. After a few short moments while traveling, I felt myself being placed inside a structure. There and insatiable hunger came over me. What is this? Where did I get moved to? Why am I so hungry all of a sudden? 

From what I could tell the structure I was placed in was warm like some kind of blanket of flesh. I begin to release my hyphae to build a mycelium root system into the structure I was placed in. I guess it is time to chow down.

Is the system still glitching?

Feeding time is taking too long, I thought I would be through this structure like a cold juice box, on a warm summer's day, but, I guess it takes some time for me to absorb nutrients through my tendrils.

Well, Since I have time I wonder, I feel like it is time to check what the system can do.

Nothing pops up….damn I thought that would work. Maybe if I try calling for skills first it'll eventually come out.

What do my skills do anyway?

Skills!

Yes! Most certainly, I would like to see what's available at least. As I go through the huge list of skills I notice a couple that would help me out for the time being. As well as some oddball ones that I would love to experiment with later.

Stealth: Cost 1 SP: Enhances your ability to move silently and remain undetected, making it easier to avoid enemies or navigate through challenging areas without being noticed.

Camouflage: Cost 1 SP: Allows you to blend seamlessly with your environment, providing excellent concealment and making it difficult for others to spot you.

Cell Harvesting: Cost 1 SP: Grants the ability to harvest a cluster of your own cells, enabling you to build another body or utilize them for other purposes.

Navigator: Cost 1 SP: Provides general navigation skills, mapping abilities, and orientation expertise, assisting you in finding your way through various terrains and locations.

To my surprise there is a skill I never would have imagined in my old world. After pondering it for sometime I go with Cell Harvesting, and with that, I choose my first skill in this new world full of mystery.
