FROM the glass window, Yna watched the little boy play with the lego scattered on the carpeted floor. His gray eyes were focused on the building blocks in front of him. He was very intent on putting the pieces together.
A smile formed on her lips when the toddler created three pyramids alongside each other.
She proceeds to the office. She called for the attention of her secretary before entering the threshold of the private office.
She was in the middle of giving instructions when she got a link from one of the sentinels in the hotels.
She stood up before gathering her belongings.
“Call me if the need arises.”
“Yes, Your Highness.”
“Send me the things I asked you in my email.”
“Yes, Princess.”
“Thank you.”
She grabbed the handbag and left the office. She returned to the room where the little boy was.
The sentinel opened the door for her. The boy’s gray eyes turned to her. He was now sitting on the couch holding an elephant stuffed toy. The pyramids were still standing on the floor.
“Hi.” Yna greeted as she approached the child.
The boy has his eyes on her as she drew near. She sat on the chair beside him.
“My name is Yna. I’m bringing you home.”
“You watched me from there.” The boy pointed at the glass window.
“I did. I saw you built the pyramids.”
“I like building things.”
“That’s great. Someday, when you’re older I might ask you to build my house or my building.”
“Am I going to see my Nana?” The boy asked. He skipped the small talk that Yna wanted to create.
She nodded at him.
“Where is the man who kidnapped me? He said he was a friend of my mom.”
“He’s not here anymore.”
“Are you my mom’s friend, too?”
“Yes. Are you ready to go home?”
The boy nodded. He gets down from the couch on his own. Yna walked towards the door. She heard the boy shuffling behind her.
The door opened. She glanced at the little boy. She found him looking back. His attention was on the couch where the stuffed elephant was.
“You can bring Mr. Elephant with you if you want.”
A smile painted on his lips before he ran back to get the flush toy. Beaming at her, the boy returned to her side.
Yna was surprised when he grabbed her hand. The gesture made her smile. She holds his hand back when they left the room.
“I know you.” The child said when he saw the sentinel outside the door.
The warrior salutes at the young man.
“He was the one who got me from the man who kidnapped me in the school.”
“I know. He’s the one who told me that a bad guy tried to get you.”
“Are you my bodyguard?” The young man questioned the sentinel when they passed by him.
“Something like that.” Answered by the sentinel at him.
They proceed to the spacious ground. Two more sentinels were waiting for them.
“Wow! Are we going to ride that thing?” He pointed at the small aircraft.
Yna chuckled. “Yes.”
The fascination on the boy’s face was very clear.
“Really? My mom would be surprised if I told her that I ride a real helicopter.”
“That’s true. Let’s go.”
He nodded enthusiastically. Her smile widens when the boy’s grip on her hand tightened as they neared the air transportation.
“Are we not going to fall when we ride that thing?”
“No. We have safety belts. The doors will be closed, too.”
“Good. I don’t want to die yet. I want to be my mom’s best man when she gets married.”
“Really?”
“Yes. I never told her yet but I know that she would like it, too.”
“You’re right.”
“Are you my mom’s girlfriend?”
Yna cleared her throat at the boy’s sudden question. “We could ask your mother when we see her.”
“I like you, Yna. Can you be my girlfriend if my mom not’s your girlfriend?”
She messed with his hair as she laughed at his statement.
She lifted him off the ground. She let him settle first before she did hers. She held the boy’s hand again when they went airborne.
They landed on top of the hotel’s helipad after more than an hour. The boy requested another turn at the city that Yna and the pilot happily obliged.
Another sentinel was waiting for them when they landed. Yna nodded at them.
“She’s at the penthouse, Your highness.”
“Thank you.”
Holding the boy’s hand, they strolled toward the suite. The boy is talking to the sentinel beside him.
He talks a lot and is curious about many things.
The sentinels left them when they reached the suite. Using her handprint, she opened the door.
“Maxim, baby!”
“Mom!”
Yna has to blink her eyes a few times as she witnessed the reunion between the mother and child.
She watched silently as H hugged her son tightly. She saw her girlfriend wipe the stray tears that escaped from her eyes.
“Are you okay, baby?”
“Yes. Did you know that we ride a helicopter? Yna allowed me to see the city. Twice.”
“Really?” H caressed the boy’s face as she stared at him intently. “Are you hurt somewhere?”
“No. Yna allow me to bring Mr. Elephant. Can I bring him home, Mommy?” He raised his hand that held the flush toy.
“Of course.”
“Where’s Nana, Mom?”
“She’s at home. She’s worried about you.”
“Is she okay?”
“She will be. Did the bad guy hurt you?”
“No. My bodyguard stopped him from getting me from the school.”
H turned to her with the question in her eyes. “You have a bodyguard?” She asked when she turned her attention back to her son.
Maxim nodded. “I saw him in school with the other daddies who wait for the kids. He’s a friend of Yna. Mom, is Yna your girlfriend? She told me to ask you when I see you. If she’s not your girlfriend, can she be my girlfriend instead?”
“What?” H said as she laughed at her son’s tattle. “You can’t have her.”
“Why? Is she your girlfriend?”
“Yes.”
“Is she gonna be my mom, too? I like Yna.”
“I like her, too.”
With a smile but a heated face, Yna left them in the living room. She went to the kitchen to prepare a drink.
She was getting the glasses from the cupboard when a pair of arms enclosed her middle from the back.
Holding the glasses in both her hands, she turned to her girlfriend. H is looking down at her with a smile. Unknown emotions were painted on her gray orbs.
The tall woman removed the glasses from her hands. H put them on the counter before caging her again between her body and the countertop.
Yna put her hands on her nape before staring at her mate’s eyes.
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. Maxim is a great kid.”
“I know. I got myself a competition from that boy.”
Yna chuckled at her statement. Her laughter stopped when H’s lips descended on hers.
She played with the hair on her girlfriend’s nape as their kiss deepened. The tall woman pulled her closer.
“There’s a minor in the house, babe,” Yna said when their lips parted.
“Babe? That’s the first time that you called me babe. I like it.”
“Me, too. Your son might be hungry, H.”
“Probably. Room service?”
Yna nodded. “The menu is beside the phone.”
She pointed at the phone attached to the wall.
H kissed her lips again before leaving. Yna grabbed the glasses while H call the kitchen.
Despite the event of the day, all is well. Maxim is in the safety of their arms while the culprit was inside confined between the cold walls of the place he deserves.
