9 – Support System
YNA was watching an episode of Lucifer when Amar sat beside her. Her sister grabbed a few pieces of popcorn from the bowl she was holding.
“He’s a dreamy guy.” Her sister commented.
“Your guy looks like him.”
“That’s why I said he’s a dreamy guy. Mine is the real thing.”
“Is that the recent episode?” It was their mom, Hyacinth.
The former queen sat on her other side. The three of them continue watching the popular series while the two older girls keep on commenting about the lead character.
Yna pressed the power off button from the remote control. The two other women turned to her. They were both frowning at her.
“Can I watch in peace?”
“Trouble in paradise, baby?” Her mom asked.
“Where’s Henrietta?” Amar asked, too.
“She may be at work at this time.” She answered after glancing at the clock on the wall.
“Night shift?”
“When can we meet your mate, baby? Your dad and I were both excited to meet her.”
“I haven’t told her yet.”
“When are you going to tell your mate about us?”
“Soon.”
Her mom leaned on her shoulder. “I’m happy for you, Yna. I am happy that all of my children found their mates. I could die happy.”
“Don’t die too soon, old woman. Your arms haven’t embraced your grandchildren yet.” Amar muttered before leaning on her other shoulder.
“I think, my kids don’t want to give this old woman a grandchild to spoil.”
“You’ll meet him soon.”
The two older ladies sat up straight before turning to her.
“You’re pregnant?”
“Henrietta got you pregnant?!”
Yna rolled her eyes when both of them talk almost in unison. “H has a four-year-old kid. He’s very smart.”
“Really? OMG, I’m very excited to meet him! At last, I have a grandson to spoil.” The former queen even clasped her hands together. A wide smile was painted on her lips.
“Where’s my nephew?”
She shook her head with the women in her family. One moment they are excited about one thing, and the next thing you know they were talking about another.
“Did you send a sentinel for this boy?”
“Yes, Mom. Two sentinels were guarding him around the clock.”
“Good.”
“How about Henrietta?”
“Just one. She can take care of herself.”
Her mom and Amarillo once again settled on the chaise they were sitting on.
“Yna, did you and H have sex?”
“Amar, that is none of your business. I never ask about you and Paulo’s sex life.”
“You can ask me.”
“I don’t want to know.”
“Mom, I think our little Yna needs that sex talk you told me about when I was fifteen.”
“I already told her about it when she was seventeen. Your sister is not as wild as you when she’s a teenager.”
“Mom!”
“That’s true. Amar, I knew that you are having sex with that sentinel your father assigned with you when you were in pre-med studies.”
“He told you?” Her sister asked in shock. “I mean, that ass told you?”
“No, but your scent is all over him.”
Yna laughed when her sister’s face turned red.
It was not prohibited in the werewolf community to have a relationship before the fated mate. It was a personal decision if a young shifter wanted to experience a relationship before their destined mate arrived. This is because some others were not lucky enough to meet their mate earlier in life. Some were not even lucky to meet their mate in this lifetime.
“Our little Yna was a perfect daughter.” The former queen added.
“I know, Mom. I actually sent someone to the hospital when a guy plotted to embarrass her in the cafeteria in high school.” Amar beamed at her when she said that.
The best thing about the relationship between Yna and Amari, the eldest royal princess was never jealous of her sister. She respects and appreciates their differences.
“What?! You’re the one behind Brad’s broken leg?” Yna said in surprise.
Brad was her high school bully. He wanted her to be his girlfriend but she bluntly refused.
Since she was enrolled in a human school, unbeknownst to them, she was not just a rich kid but also a member of the werewolf royalty. Brad thought he could get into her pants and mess with her because his family was also wealthy. He thought wrong.
“How did you do that? You were in college when that happened.”
“I keep my eyes on you, little Yna. Besides, Aki was in another school. He can’t take care of you.”
“Thank you, Amar.”
“You’re welcome, Yna. But you should have sex. It’s amazing, especially with your mate. Right, Mom?”
“Oh, yes.”
She stood up. “I’m going to bed. Good night.”
She waved at her family after she put the remote control on top of the table. They could binge-watch Lucifer to their heart's content.
She was preparing for bed when she recalled the thing Amar did for her regarding her bully. A smile formed on her lips.
Back then, she was left alone at home with her parents. Amar was studying at the university for her pre-med studies while Aki was in a boarding school. Her parents were the current king and queen of the Kingdom.
She never wanted to worry her parents. Besides, with the three of them, Amar was the wild one. Though she loves her sister but she never wanted the attention to herself. As much as possible, she wanted to be left alone. Amar was the outgoing among the three of them while Aki was the sporty type. And she was the wallflower. She liked it that way.
Their parents accepted the differences between the three of them. Former King Lucian wanted his kids to do what they want but he also wanted his kids to be responsible for the consequences of their every action.
Recently, when her father learned that she found her mate, he was ecstatic. He was surprised that her mate is a lesbian. He even asked her if she was sure that it was indeed Henrietta. When she confirmed that H is indeed her mate, he admitted that it never crossed his mind that her youngest daughter will have a woman for a mate. However, he never questioned the will of the goddess, the mother of all shifters.
Regardless, her father supported her mating with H as he did with his other two children.
Truth be told, she herself never thought that she would have a female mate. She expects like most did that hers will be a man. However, she found no difficulty in accepting her mate. The moon goddess Selene blessed her with a mate and H is a good person. A flirt but a good person.
H may have flaws but her gender would never be an issue for them. She herself was never perfect. She may never have a failed grade in school but she made mistakes, too. Together, she and H will face every bump in the road that they will encounter.
Hopefully, those bumps will not include her previous escapades with other women.
When she asked for a thorough investigation on H, she already expected a lot of women since their initial meeting she already met one. Learning about her son was a surprise but knowing the circumstance of his conception was quite a blow.
Deep inside her, she hopes that H will embrace their mating. H already felt the effects of the mating bond. However, Yna wanted her mate to fall in love with her like most humans did to their partner.
H is human. As humans, they rely on love and falling in love, unlike werewolves. Most werewolves waited for the destined person that the mother of all werewolves, Selene, will bestow on them. Werewolves accept the mate that was given to them. But humans rely on the belief of falling in love before accepting the flaws of the person they fell in love with. Werewolves accept first and fall in love later.
And Yna wants H to fall for her. Rejection is not impossible in the werewolf world but rejection will not be an option for them. H is hers.
