Everybody's system

The point of a system is supposed to be to make the user the strongest right? unfortunately for our protagonist this does not seem to be the case, as everybody gets one, and his seems to be garbage. This is my first original work, I got slightly upset at all the system novels that set up a slow gain of power, then let the protagonist become op within 10 chapters, so I decided to write a system novel of my own where the protagonist can't shake the world with power until he earns it. Enjoy!

Testing 123

Ken and Asher were sat on his back stoop discussing asher's last month in hushed voices.

"so did you try gambling?" asked ken.

"$1000 worth of lottery tickets, guess how much I won?"

"jackpot?"

"$0"

"wait in spite of all that luck you are out $1000?"

"nope, I put in $1000 and got out $1000, net $0"

"huh..."

"yep, but here's the thing, I did better at cards, and you know how shit my poker face is, sports were net 0 but esports betting I almost doubled my money, I think it has to do with luck boosting me to even odds and my skill doing the rest, I know esports teams so I won big but I know nothing about sports so it was effectively random chance. maybe it's the systems way of stopping people with high luck from just winning millions and living on easy street."

"makes sense, so how do I come into this? you have already done so much testing."

"well I need someone I actually trust that I can tell my stats to and know they won't spread it around, that's one thing, the other thing is that I'm trying to figure out how I can best use this stat I have to fight and I can't think of anybody better then a national champ for that."

"national third place asshole" Ken boxed ashers ear playfully "but yea that sounds about right, I'm one of the only top tiers that can actually control their strength"

Third place was a bit of an understatement, that title was only for non magical fights and with his wisdom so high Ken could use quite a few simple magics, most of them focused on reinforcement of his body, he was nationally ranked third in nonmagical combat, first in the "No holds barred" tournaments, and second on the battle Royale cercuit (though the rating system sucked so little stock could be put in that) he was a beast all around. the reason for understating his ability was simple, his self awareness let him know he was nowhere near ready for the world stage and that fact galled him constantly.

"right" Ken cracked his knuckles loudly "if you want to train with me we are getting up early, better to hit the sack sooner then later"

Asher sighed, it was only about 8:00 and his friend was being a mom, but early was an understatement and he knew it well.
