The movie was finished, but Martin's work wasn't over yet.
He still had to compose the soundtrack for the film.
Martin flew to New York.
As a signed artist with Columbia Records, he could use the company's professional recording studio to record songs.
He was not going to copy the original soundtrack of the film and decided to use the music of the Night Stalkers as the soundtrack for this project. However, he could not use it directly and needed to make some adjustments.
This was just a small task for Martin.
Logically speaking, the soundtrack should not really start until the movie editing was completed. In the early stages, he could only develop some general ideas based on the overall style of the movie.
But Martin didn't need to; he had the finished version of the film in his head.
The score didn't take much of Martin's energy.
This gave him time to explore New York.
"Gordon, did you know that the emergence of Fifth Avenue originated from wealthy New Yorkers in the early 19th century choosing to live at the southern end of what was then just a country road? It was located on the central axis of Manhattan and concentrated the essence of the city..."
"Gordon, did you know that the Statue of Liberty was built by France in 1876 to commemorate the centenary of the American Revolutionary War? This female figure in a robe represents the goddess of freedom in Roman mythology..."
"Gordon, did you know that the financial backers behind the Museum of Modern Art are the Rockefeller family? It opened on October 29, 1929—a day also known as Black Tuesday, the darkest day in American securities history. From that day on, the U.S. and even the world entered a decade-long period of economic depression. It was during this time that the Museum of Modern Art in New York opened its doors to the public..."
"Gordon, you know what?..."
Bodyguard Gordon had a large head and felt as if he was being lectured every day.
"But I'm just a bodyguard. I don't want to be a historian. Why do I need to know this?"
Fortunately, nine days after arriving in New York, Martin finally completed all the scores and was ready to return to Los Angeles.
Gordon breathed a sigh of relief.
On his last day in New York, Martin decided to visit the famous Twin Towers to pay his respects in advance.
Even though "9/11" was a disaster for mankind, Martin was not human and could not empathize with it.
As for informing the American government in advance?
Stop being funny!!!
For now, his prediction was likely to be regarded as a joke; but after the "9/11" incident actually occurred in the future, it would become a huge trouble for him!
What does it have to do with me?
This was what Martin really thought.
"Come on, Gordon, today is our last day in New York. Let's go hang out in Central Park."
Gordon put on his coat with a grimace.
New York's Central Park is located in the middle of Manhattan, surrounded by many skyscrapers. The park covers an area of 3.4 million square meters and has a total length of 93 kilometers of walking trails. It is open from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., and at 9 o'clock (in spring and summer), it is known as one of the largest man-made landscapes in the world.
It is divided into 49 areas, where you can boat, camp, walk, and cycle...
It was almost July, and the weather was starting to get hot, but compared to Los Angeles, New York was still relatively cool.
Martin put his hands in his pockets and wore a mask, strolling in the park with Gordon following behind him.
Because there were lakes, forests, and breezes, the park was cooler inside.
Martin wandered around the edge of the forest. Suddenly, a pink bicycle came flying towards him.
With Martin's quick reflexes, he was able to avoid it.
But just as he was about to dodge, he suddenly saw the face of the owner on the bicycle. A flash of realization crossed his mind, and hundreds of ways to be hit instantly appeared in his thoughts.
He quickly selected one, and then—ouch!
Martin staggered after being hit by the bicycle and fell forward. He landed on the ground, turned over onto his back, with "fear" on his face, and began to flail.
And above him, a shadow pressed down.
Bang, bang, uh uh...
Scarlett Johansson felt incredibly unlucky. She had just been recognized by a mischievous boy while riding her bicycle, and he was chasing her desperately. She could only pedal with all her strength to get away.
But just after she lost that pesky boy, she accidentally hit someone. Fortunately, she didn't fall heavily.
Huh? Why is it so soft underneath?
Uh-huh, uh-huh...
There were also strange sounds coming from beneath her.
Scarlett looked down, and her beautiful face suddenly turned red with embarrassment. It turned out that her body had just happened to land on the unfortunate guy she had hit, who was now struggling beneath her.
Scarlett quickly turned to the side and got out of the way.
The unfortunate guy let out a long breath, "Oh God, you almost suffocated me. What was that?"
This sentence made Scarlett's face turn scarlet from her cheeks to the root of her neck.
"Yes, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it. You weren't hurt, were you?" she apologized quickly.
The unfortunate man turned his head, and a pair of clear blue eyes met Scarlett's gaze.
"A pair of charming eyes!" a thought flashed through Scarlett's mind.
Then it was replaced by another thought.
"Why is he wearing a mask? Isn't it hot?"
"I'm not dead yet, but I just can't stand up. Please help me," the masked man said.
Scarlett suddenly became alert. Could this guy have recognized me and said that on purpose?
As a child star, Scarlett was famous in New York.
She looked at the boy, trying to see something, but all she could discern were annoyance and frustration.
Oh no, he shouldn't be pretending...
Scarlett blushed at her previous thought.
She quickly got up from the ground and stood next to the boy again. She squatted down, hugged his arm, and tried to help him up.
But she seemed to have misjudged his weight. Halfway through, the two of them fell down again.
The mask on the boy's face somehow slipped to his chin, and their mouths met, both of them wide-eyed in surprise.
Well, only the girl was truly surprised.
Martin was secretly enjoying himself and had done it on purpose.
When Martin fell, Gordon rushed over, but after seeing Martin's little trick, Gordon stopped and watched with amusement from a distance.
As an employer, he had so many tricks at a young age!
By chance, Martin's eyes met Gordon's, and Gordon gave him a look that only a man could understand. Martin glared back at him.
"I was careless; my acting skills just now were a bit exaggerated, and this guy Gordon noticed it. But fortunately, the little beauty didn't catch on."
After a lot of effort, the two finally stood up.
Scarlett asked worriedly, "Are you okay?" followed by a long scream, "Ah——, you, you are, you are Martin Meyers!"
"Yes, yes, it's me. Please, little sister, can you stop screaming? Your eardrums are about to burst."
"Ah, I'm sorry! I'm so excited! I love your books, I love your movies, I love your music; I'm your fan!"
"Thank you. So, little fan sister, can you help me over to sit down? My feet can't support me standing like this for long."
"Oh, sorry, I forgot."
Scarlett Johansson hurriedly helped Martin walk to a bench not far away.
