Chapter 11

“Thanks!”

“No problem! You were great!”

I sat again across from Geno and he smiled at me as we continued our night.

After open mic night, we drove to the theater, which wasn’t far away, and watched an action movie. I decided to let him make the first move, and didn’t reach for his hand. He didn’t reach for mine, either. We talked and laughed through the movie, though, and had a pretty good time.

“You want me to just take you to your house now, or would you rather go back to the coffee shop?” I asked.

“The crib would be fine. It’s not far from here.”

“Okay.”

I dropped Geno off and we shared a cramped hug in the car, and then I drove home in victory. That had been fun. I felt pretty normal. See? All I needed was to find the right guy, and I wouldn’t be gay. It was that easy.
