Day 1

The day started as always: I woke up, took a quick shower, ate a piece of bread, spilled my coffee while running towards my car.

I was going to be late for work. Again.

Even think about that obese motherf*cker who will spit saliva on my face while lecturing me about the importance of punctuality made me sick.

Even if everything started not in the best way possible, it was still a normal day.

I arrived at work and Jones, my hateful boss, didn't say anything about me being late. I didn't give it too much importance and was only happy. Now that I think about it, it was pretty strange already.

Jones's eyes were even more stupid than usual. It seemed that he didn't even notice my presence at all.

Everything was normal until the evening.

As I exited the building (I work in a small office in the outskirts of the city) I suddenly felt an irresistible urge to have a drink. The first bar I saw had a huge neon sign above the entrance.

"Chaotic Flow of Thousand Worlds" was written on it.

What a stupid name. And it was the first time I've ever seen that bar.

Now everything seems strange and suspicious about that day.

I opened that door. The lights were off. I couldn't see anything and turned around to leave, and find another place to drink, but the next moment I found myself in the middle of a forest.

No bar with a strange name, no urges to drink, no city…only trees.

I panicked…who wouldn't in my place?

After a few moments of shock…

//Note on the side of the page.//

- Few hours of shock, tears, and incredulity…

…I picked a random direction and started going hoping to find…someone, or at least something useful.

My stomach started rumbling. The last meal I had wasn't very good, and the absence of breakfast made it even worse.

The forest wasn't ending.

As I looked for something edible, I noticed that I didn't ever see before the majority of the plants here.

'It somewhere in the Amazonia?'

I also saw some prints that I couldn't recognize either, but I was sure that the unknown creature has sharp claws or something similar.

The day was slowly ending as I continued my lonely journey when I saw something purple on the nearby tree.

I was extremely hungry at that moment, so I threw every bit of caution away and started climbing the tree.

For a twenty years old man I am not very athletic…

//Nearly unnoticeable above the line//

- …skinny…lame…

…but I guess that hunger made me stronger at that moment.

I was right! It was a fruit. A very big and juicy one. It could have been poisonous, but I thought that I was better than a certain death from hunger later.

//Above the line//

- Idiot

I gave a bite and…it was actually delicious. The pieces melted in my mouth, releasing a divine flavor. Never had I tasted anything similar.

When I finished it something suddenly felt wrong. At first, it was a sensation of having a fever and it was becoming worse every second.

My stomach first and that the rest of my body was in pain.

Suddenly a saw a black silhouette dashing towards me. Due to my "burning" condition, I couldn't react in time and a massive black body directly slammed into me.

I fell on the ground.

Before passing out I heard some beastly screams. The creature sounded really in pain.

*Hunter John POV*

John signaled to others to be careful and also pointed towards a tree root on his left. There was a fresh print.

The creature they were hunting was nearby.

Suddenly a piercing screech alarmed the hunters.

John immediately frowned. 'What's going on? Is it fighting with some other creature?'

'It may be a good opportunity anyway.'

He ran forward towards the sound.

Other hunters silently followed behind.

[…]

"What a hell…" – John lost his composure for a second. In front of him was the creature they were hunting. Half of its body was burning with purple flames.

*boooo*

The creature was rolling on the ground trying to put out the flames, but it didn't work.

Quickly recovering from the surprise, John dashed forward and stabbed the roaring creature with his dagger. The other hunters followed his lead.

The wails and screeched slowly subsided as the injuries of the creature's body increased.

Suddenly the beast let out a thunderous roar.

This time apart from pain there was unwillingness and even rage. An invisible pressure enveloped the hunters.

'Damn…' Black lines covered John's face. 'It has triggered its own potential…it's evolving…f*ck…'

He sprinted towards the creature wanting to kill it in one clean hit, but a huge, coved with black fur paw kicked him aside. 'We're done for…' Thought John as he was tossed aside.

He hit a tree and was ready to see all of the other hunters being murdered in front of his eyes, but the reality left him speechless.

The creature's target wasn't anyone from his group but a man's body lying on the ground.

John didn't notice it because he was too focused on the beast.

As the creature launched itself towards the motionless body suddenly the purple flames intensified a hundred…thousand-fold.

It wasn't even able to roar as its whole body was engulfed in a purple radiance.

The creature missed the target and crashed on the ground.

Its limbs were still twitching as the flames slowly disappeared leaving only a scorched, lifeless body.

The hunters for a whole few minutes just stupidly watched the scene in front of them.

John stood up and went first towards the creature. 'Dead.'

Then he looked at the mysterious man. 'Hopefully, I wouldn't burn like the Black Malakit here…'

Step, two steps, three steps…He was already inside the rage of the purple flame.

Nothing happed.

John sighed with relief. He thought for a second and called to the other hunters.

"You four, take the useful meat and the heart of Malakit, and you, help me to carry this guy to the village."
