"W-why would you help us when we are strangers?" Mr. Hwang asked.
"Now this is a typical question that every human ask, isn't it? I wonder how my father created Earth when he claims himself to be Mr.Right." The man spoke as his expression changed to a thoughtful one.
"Y-your father."
"Now drink the coffee before it gets cold. I added less sugar because I heard humans get diabetics, another headache."
"No thank you." The man rejected it as he slowly got over the fear of being around the other but his wife still being careful.
"B-be careful, we are at his place now." She whispered into her husband's ears, tightening her hands around his.
"You can see me as your son who didn't abandon you. I am very kind as you can say and too good-looking to be a killer, so I can assure you there is no poison in it." Lucifer spoke knowing what was the reason for the rejection.
"One more thing, what will I gain from killing two old people who even lost their house and trying to find shelter in an old age home."
"W-who told that to you? Are you a stalker?" This time Mrs. Hwang asked being the curious type she always was.
"I am Lucifer. Is that not a good hint for a believer like you, Mother?" He asked sarcastically but with sweetness when he used the word mother to represent her.
"Honey, we n-need to go right now." She spoke, her hands shaking instantly as if she saw a ghost.
"W-what happened? Are you okay? Do you need to lie down or go to the hospital?"
"No no, she just realized who I am and honestly this is the basic expression that anyone could give. Again to remind you, I am of no harm." Lucifer spoke as he raised his hands as if he was surrendering.
"Honey, who is he?"
"T-the Devil." She spoke, her eyes still stuck on him.
"What are you saying? Are you really going to bring in your thoughts right now?" he asked a little annoyed.
"No, I am not lying. He really is, I can see it. W-we need to leave now." She panicked, getting up and pulling her husband.
"This is now offensive. I am just sitting here and offering you coffee with a pretty smile and you are getting scared?" Lucifer asked.
"T-these are his tricks. W-we need to go to the church and inform the priest."
"Hayoon, please let's be practical now. What d-do you mean by he is the devil. He looks like a normal human to me. Can't you see it?"
"Devil can deceive anyone and he can roam around on Earth as long as he wants in disguise. I have heard about it."
"Well, now that is true and please, I am a gentleman and you should be able to figure that out by now. Oh! The priest that you are talking about visited me last week for clarifying a few things so I can call him here for you." Lucifer had a sly smirk while noticing the scared expression on their faces.
He enjoys it when people get scared of him or when they know how dangerous he can get. He enjoyed the vivid responses they give them, it held power but at this moment, the feeling was something else. He was not enjoying the way, the couple was reacting to his calm state, he is not supposed to be scary on a normal day. This was exactly the image he had of the Devil when the angels used to tell him the stories. He never imagined being that one day, all thanks to his father.
"Y-you are still the Devil." She pointed her fingers at him as an accusation.
"I am and I guess you would know the reason too in that case. I didn't choose to be the Devil but was forced to. I can't help but carry this disgusting image that humans have for me." He frustratingly spat out, his voice rising an octave higher.
"L-let us just go." She begged, folding her hands together as a gesture of prayer.
"You are free to leave whenever you want. I only brought you both here because I wanted to make sure that you are fine. I just didn't want to leave you there for death." He groaned, his eyes emitting death glares.
"But why? Are you not supposed to kill us?"
"Another lame story circulating. See, I will just say this once so listen carefully. I am not someone who handles birth and death. All I do is handle the sinned souls who have reached hell. That is totally decided by my parents." He shrugged while resting his hands on his thighs and leaning forward.
"A-are you really the Devil?" Mr. Hwang asked as he still couldn't believe the conversation as he was always away from church and prayers.
He was not a believer and he never supported his wife when she forced him to drop her off at the church. Life is really funny because now after all this, here he is witnessing a wholesome conversation between his wife and the Devil. If someone had explained this situation to him a few days ago, he would have laughed in their faces.
"I really am or do you want me to perhaps, show my horns and tail just like you imagined me? It is possible but I doubt you won't survive it."
"P-please, he doesn't know about anything. Forgive him and please don't come behind us, we will not anyone about this."
"I wouldn't care because a lot of people already know me and we are friends too. Well, some are my enemies as they chose to betray me."
"L-lets leave."
Mrs. Hwang held her husband's hand and pulled him up, ready to leave as soon as possible. Lucifer just sighed, knowing that he can't keep them with him no matter what, they are determined to leave. It just didn't feel right to get so much rejection even after all the efforts he puts in.
"Hey, I have a deal.... a very good one."
