Dear Dove

You can get much further with a kind word and a gun than you can with just a kind word. – Al Capone An iron fist and a merciless cold metal gun, the mafia code that was taught to Zane Scarlet by his father. What good could she possibly be? excerpt: "We already agreed where your place ends, Rose. There's no need any further argument. This Is final." Zane pinched the bridge of nose, turning to leave. A small hand grabbed the much larger one. An unexpected move. "What if I don't want my place to end there?" the low, quivering voice asked. "What if I want this to be real?" --------------------------------------------------------------------- Little Dove I love you so but I know you have to go. Vicious Little Flower

Rose didn't waste the chance at getting a second hit in. Sadly, it came two seconds too slow as the young mafioso managed to defend himself. The block firm against her leg didn't hurt as much as dissuade her from trying again. People around them on the street had already decided to steer clear of the situation to avoid getting involved.

Even if they didn't know who either person was, most bystanders hated getting wrapped up in such things that they had nothing to do with. Zane's reputation also didn't reach as far as the area they currently were in. Only Clive's recognition did but no one could see the driver as he sat in the tinted car. Unless the situation became messy, he intended to keep it that way.

"Come now, I think that you're starting to be a little unfair here. Though I cannot deny the fact that I am rather impressed by your skill." She didn't care for his approval. She couldn't care less about it. She put a little space between them once the other let go of her hand. They were too equally matched for her to have much of a chance at hitting him.

"Being unfair? That's rich coming from the person keeping the woman against her will. Too scared by you to even think about leaving on her own." Rose's temptation to call the police grew with each passing second. Her uncle would've been the best bet to call if not for the fact that Rose wanted to avoid getting into trouble. If her uncle found out, her father would certainly hear of it.

"I explained that matter to you already. I'm not keeping or kidnapping her. Nothing along those lines. I will repeat myself once again and say that if you could get her to leave, you can have my thanks." The paralegal struggled to tell if his tone reflected sarcasm or honesty. The sparkle in his eyes spoke of amusement as did the tiny smile at the corner of his lips. His voice however held something akin to exasperation that aligned more with his words being genuine.

Rose Reminded herself that Zane was mafia and that meant to take everything said and done with a grain of salt. Not the kind of people to easily be trusted or worth working with. Unless one happened to be on the same side as them or existed in their world.

"You keep talking about doing something to get her to leave with you. Are you actually going to do it or not? If not, I very much think that you should run along, Little Flower, and quit causing such a commotion wherever you go. Not very good for someone such as yourself who is attempting to keep a low profile." How he knew, she could only guess by her outfit. Rather dressed down from the previous day. Rose cared very little if she blew her cover. Even if other people recognized her, so long as nothing got back to her family, she would be fine.

"If you want me to do something about it, why don't you leave so that I can take the woman into coming with me?" the young mafioso chuckled and shook his head.

"And leave you alone near my car with my things still inside? I think not. Being the kind of person you are, it should fall within your skill sets, right?" It sounded very much like the young mafioso challenged her with his words.

"It is very much so within my skill sets. Someone like you looming around just makes it more difficult to accomplish the task." Zane tsked in response to this making the noise that grated on Rose's nerves.

"Then little the situation be, Rose. I will take care of it myself and if you chose to do anything with the woman after, it will be of no concern to me." The young mafioso would be late to his next meeting if something wasn't done soon.

Being late with someone he set up a meeting withheld no consequences. The same could not be said about a meeting with someone his father set up. The man would certainly run his mouth to Bernard if his son came late. People residing in the underworld could be extremely petty when they so desired to be. Especially if they believed it would gain them some kind of brown points or a chance at getting ahead.

"Juliet, I want you to get out of the car now. I Have given you more than enough time to change your mind. Considering you still choose to remain silent despite this vicious little flower's interjection into the situation, I will take it as a sign that your mind is made up and we will no longer have anything to do with one another." Where did he get the idea that he could address Rose in such a fashion?

"I have a name and you will address me by that. I don't want to have to repeat myself again. Talking to the woman in a manner such as the one you're currently using is hardly the way to get her to do what you want." Pity, she didn't think to bring her briefcase. She might have actually stood a chance at making contact with some part of Zane's body.

"The moment t you stop butting into my affairs, I will consider using your real name. Until then, you can deal with what I chose to call you and see yourself away from this situation." Similar to what occurred during their first meeting, Zane's behavior suddenly became colder. Almost as though someone flipped a switch.

Turning his attention away from the paralegal, he moved back towards the car. Seeming to notice the shift, Juliet also chose that moment to step out of the car. Rose hadn't been the only person to notice the sudden shift that took place.

"A wise decision considering how close my patience is to running out. I don't often over people a second. If you ever think that you want one after our discussion today, you better be able to provide me with something of great value." Juliet remained silent as the other took her phone out of his pocket and gave it back.

"Do as you wish in terms of talking to the other woman over there. You are in this world far enough to know what can come from saying too much so I will simply recommend that you keep that in mind." Zane spoke too softly for Rose to hear the conversation. She could only guess the young mafioso mentioned her when the woman's gaze flicked over for a brief second.

Quick as that, the situation ended the moment that Zane got Juliet out of the car. Getting back inside himself, he didn't bother acknowledging the paralegal again. The car took off the moment the doors closed leaving Rose with the unusually silent woman who seemed torn on what to do with herself.
