Mateo lay down with a heavy heart. Clara had been sleeping for quite some time, yet her side of the bed was still cold. He reached out and pulled Clara closer into his embrace, hoping she wouldn't feel cold anymore.
Clara snuggled comfortably against Mateo, her warm body pressing tightly against his chest. Her legs tangled around his, resembling an octopus. Clara always slept like this; she had her reasons, claiming it gave her a sense of security. She used to say that sleeping while hugging him.
Now, thinking about it, it truly was an extreme security, almost torturous.
"Why did you come back so late? I waited for you for a long time!" Clara squinted, feeling drowsy but still had unfinished business. She looked at Mateo with sleepy eyes.
Mateo was startled, almost jumping up, but quickly regained his composure. Stay calm! Isn't that what they often say on TV? It seemed effective, and he needed to stay calm.
