Raindrops

Change. A natural phenomenon that happens everyday. Whether it's so little it's unnoticeable, or so massive that it causes people dismay at its sudden occurrence.

Yet, looking at the brooding boy in front of her, she couldn't help but feel... Surprise. Never in her life that something could make the self-confident and shameless Tonomachi, reacted so... Lackluster.

Looking at his lackluster reaction to being called out like that, one might be even embarrassed... Yet, in front of her, Tonomachi, just bluntly refused.

"Hey, are you okay?... Hiroto? "

The shining light of sun, began to be dampen by clouds.

He didn't bother to look at her. "No."

Shiori didn't respond, letting the simple answer slowly sink in. It didn't occur to Shiori that the bell began to rang signaling the end of lunch.

The sky began to sob.

Feeling small the small droplets of rain, "Don't you think we should go back? It's raining and the end of lunch afterall. "

The boy exhaled heavily, before answering, " I guess, we should. " He agreed and got up, not even bothering to walk at the same pace at her, only leaving her behind within all this rain.

Following behind him, she was outpaced by several distance. Shiori asked to nobody under her breath. "What happened? "

"What should've happened a long time ago. " A girl younger than her replied on the other end snarkily.

Shiori didn't respond.

Sighing, the girl on the other end replied again, " I don't know, maybe he felt jealous of two girls hogging all of your attention and time? Just a thought. "

Shiori after a long silence asked again, "Is he really? "

" If seeing his favorability dropped to complete zero is any indication... " The girl on the other end states, as Shiori look at reatteating back of Hiroto.

The back of Hiroto that has reach the schoolgrounds without hindrance, while she was only halfway.

"What will you do? Without him, you'll basically have all the time in the world to date spirits.  To protect both the world and them. " The girl on the other end, states in a matter of fact tone.

" Kotori... " Shiori call out to the girl on the other end.

"Shiori... Isn't this what you wanted? To keep him safe? He's basically giving you his safety. Although, not free... " Kotori answered.

"Don't you think it's a good deal? A small relationship, in exchange for a life. " Kotori asked again.

Shiori remained silent at her sister's logic... With indignation, she moved forward finally reaching the schoolground, being left behind by Hiroto, who was already at his seat.

...

The sorcerer Suguru, Geto, remained stoic as the sobbing sky began its cry. The sound of droplets of rain drowning out the non-existent voice of the teacher.

Geto rested on his palm, deep in thought. The grey blank eyes, staring absentmindedly at the teacher, deep in his own mind of a thought of something trivial.

'Was he mistaken?' He asked himself as the rain continued to become stronger.

'Was he mistaken for comparing his situation now, from the time that have come passed?' He asked himself again.

'He was, wasn't he.'

'Comparing something akin of abandonment towards something so trivial as the other person having a personal life other than this school full of monke-' He halted his thoughts from continuing.

Taking a deep breath, and exhaling just as hard, 'Since when did the feeling of being left out of someones personal life, became comparable to the abandonment I gave? '

'It wasn't. '

'It wasn't comparable at all' The clouds cry, continued without a halt.

Geto's continues thought that began to spiral out of his hand, was halted by strong sound of raindrops of the sobbing sky.

Looking outside, and distracting himself from his thoughts, he simply thought. 'It's a storm... '

Getos thoughts were nothing special. Getos thoughts were nothing but for him to ponder about, nobody else. Getos problem was his own.

The thoughts of comparison continued to linger within the back of his mind with no sign of stopping. While the thought of the bluenette from before, became nothing but a secondary.

Not much time has passed, as the final ring of the bell for the day sounded. The lingering ramblings of students became prominent.

Other students laughs with their seatmates, friends, and classmates became static to him. Along with the voices overlapping with each other students. Yet, Suguru, Geto thought nothing of it.

Standing at the entrance of their school building, many students exited with their chosen companions, some chose to exit alone, and some didn't even bother to be decent in public display.

Looking out at the open entrance, holding his umbrella. Closing his eyes, he let himself be lost for a moment as he take a breather.

Students continued to exit, yet he paid no mind.

In amidst to the pouring rain, two students were walking together. One girl with purple hair, adorned with a ribbon, drag a girl with blue hair.

"Tohka, slow down! " The bluenette girl, begged.

"No, Shiori, I'm not gonna miss my chance for a sneak attack! " The purplenette girl know as Tohka, responded excitedly.

"Tohka... There's no one who's gonna steal me a-" The bluenette known as Shiori, halted her response, as she spotted a familiar black hair boy, known to her a Hiroto Tonomachi.

Geto's eyes blink opened after taking breather. Expecting the image of the downpour of rain, his empty shallow gaze instead met the brown eyes of the bluenette from before.

Their accidental gaze, led them to see each other more clearly.

Getos eyes squinted, 'A vessel? '

Shiori's eyes widen, confusion evident. 'Empty? '

The eyes is the window to the soul.

For Shiori to look into the eyes if her friend, Shiori only saw an empty gaze directed at her. No feelings were present, no resentment nor joy at seeing eye to eye for the first time in the past three weeks. It stung her.

For Geto to meet her eyes, Geto saw a vessel filled with the essence of a being next to her, to be exact, the same girl from the rooftop. 'A curse spirit? '
