Welcome to the Afterlife

A few days after the convo with Shie, and while the area that is Pacifica was currently getting leveled, I was driving a car I nabbed to El Capitan, though a few bullet holes here and there since Valentinos really hate it when you go and klep their wheels from them so I had to take them down.

Luckily Padre isn't part of the Valentinos anymore so that doesn't fuck with any of my fixer Gigs in the Glen.

I hop out of my car to see Muamar smiling from ear to ear at the sight of the ride I brought in.

"Damn Hifumi! I knew you were the Merc for this job, you even brought it in without that much damage to it, that sandi must come in real clutch in car chases." He says as he takes the keys from me as I get 40k for the job.

"Gave you a bonus since it's nearly in mint condition, also I'm supposed to pass this on to you, seems the legend herself has taken notice of you kid, cause you got access to the Afterlife, the greatest hangout for all kinds of Mercs out there, though only you and not Ms. 'Little Bloody Mary' as she's a bit to much for people and we don't want the Afterlife to become a Morgue once more because of her going on a rampage if you catch my drift." He says to me before sitting on the hood as he looks at me.

"It's fine, she probably doesn't really care anyway, she's usually watching shows or flicks when there's no biz for her expertise anyway, kind of wish she found a friend that's a bit similar to her in this biz, but I don't think she'd be that lucky." I say while shaking my head.

"Well…. I heard there's this short chick who is apart of the Edgerunners crew now who has a tendency of being way to trigger happy for her own good, maybe her and your girl could get along if they met up." He suggested to me.

"Well are they looking for new members? It's kinda boring going solo all the time, plus having a crew you can trust is great to have you know what I'm sayin?" I decide to put out there as he rubs his chin.

"Hmm, probably, I heard Maine wanted to make his crew a huge one but most of his newbies end up getting killed for rather dumbshit reasons, that hothead girl only got in cause her brother is already in the crew, but she seems to have Lady Luck on her side with how she mows down people with her guns and all that, but best place to meet them is still at the Afterlife unless they call you up personally, but I will send a message letting him know to meet you up at the Afterlife or just call you up himself." He says as his eyes briefly glow before going back to normal as he sent the text.

"Nice Choom, but it's time for me to Delta the fuck out of here." I say before walking away but El Capitan stands up and places a hand on my shoulder.

"Hold up Mi Amigo, I have a surprise for you." He said before pulling out his own car clicker and clicking it before I hear a reving engine as a Quadra Reaver pulls up to us and stops.

"The Quadra Type-66 'Reaver' edition, got it all set up just for you hermano, think of it as a gift to welcome you into the afterlife as well as thanks for helping getting me all these rare and sought after cars all the time." He said before motioning me to pull out my own car clicker which I did as he linked it up with mine instead.

"Thanks Muamar, I appreciate the gesture." I say as I clicked my car clicker as the door opened up for me before I hopped on in as I got a feel for the care which had heavy armored windows that became only see through from the inside while impossible to see from the outside.

"Enjoy the wheels choom! Keep this up and I'll get you even sweeter sets of rides to come!" He says to me before waving goodbye where I do the same before heading off straight to the Afterlife.

After about a half hour of heavy traffic I parked my car at the Afterlife bar parking lot before stepping out of the car.

"The Afterlife huh? It's good to hear I'm really making a name for myself." I say before locking up my Quadra before heading on inside and down the stairs of the old morgue turned bar before reaching the door guarded by the bouncer.

"Whoa there pal, name?" He said holding up his hand to stop me.

"Hifumi Yamada, up incoming Solo, got word from one of the Fixers I'm allowed in now?" I say with a shrug as he raises and eyebrow as his eye glow as I feel a scan from him on me before his eyes go back to normal.

"Alright your good, welcome to the Afterlife New Blood." He says as he gets out of my way before the doors slid open to let me pass.

"Thanks." I then proceed to enter before heading on over to the bar and taking a seat.

"Be with you in a sec." The bartender lady said as she helped out a few others at the bar get there drinks before coming over to me.

"New here huh? So what'll your poison be?" She asks as she leans on the counter.

"I'll take a Johnny Silverhand, with just one big ice cube in the glass." I ask as she nods before going off to make me my drink as I sat around looking at all the people at the bar.

Most of the people here were other Mercs and smaller lesser known fixers and clients looking to get Mercs on the job.

Unless you can smell a job is hot garbage from a mile away it's hard starting out as a fixer as one fuck up with a client fucking a Merc over through you and your reputation takes a hit as well, if a Merc takes a job directly from the client it's best to ask a payment in Advance or at least 50% so you know your getting something and aren't getting hazed by the client for doing a job without getting paid as a result.

"Here you go." The bartender, Claire, said as she brought me my drink as I nodded before drinking some of it.

Time passed for a bit while I chatted with Claire here and there, I could see Rogue in her own booth as she was dealing with clients and other Mercs for jobs of her own but nothing was really happening.

I mean the Afterlife is nice and all but if nobody comes up to you to offer you anything it's just another bar to be at.

But while I was drinking my Johnny Silverhand suddenly a huge ass dude comes over and sits right down next to me.

"Claire, get me what the kids having." The old man says which gets a nod from Claire as she went to get him a drink as I turn my head to look at the guy.

"So…. I heard your interested in joining up with my crew." The old man turns to look at me directly as I look at him as well.

"Names Maine, nice to meet ya." He says holding out his massive hand towards me.

"Hifumi, nice to meet you too Maine." I say as I shake his hand while this being the first time of a long and profitable relationship between us both.
