Bad habits (author chapter)

So i fell into a bad habit of mine when writing this story that i am ashamed to say was entirely avoidable. see i LOVE me a gimmick in my characters as anyone who has seen my other works has likely noticed. in this story that gimmick was the rip off custom made demon king system tailored for the monster hunter world. the problem i neglected to take into consideration when i started this story was how fast someone could become broken with it. the OG system was made with multiversal shenanigans in mind while my had the same potential but was wrong for the sort of story i wanted.

Alex has grown too powerful too fast and save directly nerfing him (a thing i got a lot of hate for in another story) multiverse travel is kinda the only option left to me. this is a problem because i HATE writing multiverse stuff because after trying it twice i figured out that i suck at it. see if you have a scale of power in one world but don't know how that adds up into another world. if you try to make the scales equal despite the difference in the worlds you end up with massively op characters or characters that feel heavily nerfed.

The system alex has makes meaningful character development hard without coping out and just switching tones to an entirely different genre. i'm going to be honest here the unlimited potential of the system was exploited to it's fullest and so we quickly reached this point. i am left with two choices at the moment that i find acceptable , the first is to just call it quits for this story while the second is to swap the system for a much more limited gimmick and sort of restart the whole story with alex at the beginning right after he had been reincarnated like a sort of alternate tale.

As i am deeply in love with writing this character i am leaning towards the second option but i would like to hear all of you guys /girls opinions first. i will wait two days before giving any official proclamation to really take in you peoples answers.
