| 26 - Rouges On The Border

Here I am standing, listening to my mate's melodious voice. She is swaying her body as if dancing with our baby inside her tummy. Her voice is something else that could lull me to sleep. I've always known her to have a really beautiful voice. But hearing it right now brings back my younger days with her as my beloved little mate.

I'm sure she's singing for our baby, yet the message seems to be pointed to me. I couldn't help but hug my mate from behind. The contact startled her as she gasped and clasps my hands on her belly.

"I just hope that you were thinking of me while singing..." I whispered closing my eyes. "...'cause only you made me feel this way, too. More than any other woman-"

"What do you mean by any other woman?" she asked in confusion yet upset voice. Oops! Wrong choice of words! "Of course, I should have known... You had other girls in your life. Probably pretty girls who look like a model. Perhaps, you would want to come back to one of - mhhhhhhh."

You guessed correctly. I kissed her. I don't like what's coming out of her mouth. She's my only woman, no other one. Not anyone else. I never even thought of having anyone besides her. I slowly pull away from her. Her eyes were wide and so is her mouth hanging open.

"I hope that answers your question," I rasped. "I have no other woman besides you. No need to feel jealous." I winked.

"Wh-what!" she gasped. "I'm not!"

"I love you and only you, Amari!" I stated in all seriousness. I used her real name because I'm not just blabbering. "You have a melodious voice, my love."

She looked down shyly. "Thank you."

"Let's go, Love."

"O-okay."

See? She's shy.

Before we closed the door of our room...

'Sire, a group of scavengers is trying to break in through the West Border.' informed Xander. "There is a war going on."

I halted in my step, and so did my lovely mate. 'Make sure they never get to enter. Kill them all. I'm on my way.'

'Yes, Sire'

"Alpha Andres, is there something wrong?"

I turn to face my amore. "Love, will you wait for me here for a little while?" I tried to make my voice as calm as possible. "There's just something I need to clear out first."

"Is there something I can help?" she asked, determined.

I laughed at her question. "Baby, I'll be back as soon as possible."

"If you say so," she murmured.

I turn to her with a smirk while she looks at me in confusion. "Why don't you send me off with a kiss?"

"No!"

"Please?"

"Okay," she sighed. "Lean down or I won't be able to reach you. You're really tall."

I couldn't help but chuckle at her statement. I lean down and pucker my lips but all she did was peck my cheek. I groaned loudly in disappointment.

"You're good to go." She turned and entered the room. Fine, for now. I'll kiss you, my love...when I came back. I shook my head.

I made my way down the stairs. I'll make sure these routes will never again think of coming back.

'Alpha, these are no ordinary scavengers,' Chase spoke. "They are from the vicious pack.'

'I'm on my way.'

'I want to remind you not to transform into your wolf, Sire.' Jedrick chimed. 'We don't know who our real enemies are.'

I didn't answer him and ran until I reach the West Border where a war is taking place. A growl erupted in my mouth causing everyone to snap at me.

Almost everyone had transformed into their wolves. But I can't put my pack in jeopardy once they see me transform.

I pounced on one of the rogues and clasps its neck. " What is your intention in crossing our border?" I growled causing him to whimper and his eyes to widen. "Answer the question, rogue!"

"We-we belong to Black Hound Pack ac-across the No-north Bridge," he stammered. "It-it was an or-order from another pack. We are only threatened. Please let us go."

"You are staying here." I look around everyone. "Knock it off! We're ending here." They obeyed as I said.

Chase turns to me and looks around the battlefield. "Send them off and lock this one up," I ordered and turned to leave. I look back over my shoulder and left from there.

'Chase, investigate this Black Hound Pack. Give me every single detail of their pack. Something is off.'

'Don't worry, Alpha. I'll lead the investigation.'

'What are we gonna do with this one?' Xander asked.

'He will be our pawn. It must have something to do with the unknown caller I received.' I responded. 'Let's continue this tomorrow.'

'Yes, Alpha.'

'Yes, Sire.'

'Yes, Alpha Andres.'

They all responded through mind-link.

When I reached the door of the mansion, my mate's scent drowned my nose. What is she doing here? I told her to stay in the room. I entered the living room and she had fallen asleep on the sofa.

You really are beautiful, my love.

Her eyes flutter open and look up at me. "Are you done with your work?"

I smiled when I hear her ask. "Yeah, come on, Love, let's eat something first.

I placed my hand on her lower back as we walk to the car. I helped her into the car. She murmured 'thank you,' and smiled at me. When I entered the passenger seat, I tried to place my hand on her thigh but her hard stare made me halt my action. We don't wanna upset a pregnant woman, now, do we? So I decided not to.

She began humming a sweet tone that probably will lull anyone to sleep. Listening to her voice like this created an image of her cradling and rocking our baby.

"If you continue humming, I might fall asleep while driving-"

"Then, don't listen!"

Oops! She's mad. She is throwing daggers at me.

"I'm sorry, my love. I was only joking." I laughed.

"Okay." She went back to humming.

When we reached the hospital, I helped her out of the car and walked inside.

'Look, Claire!' a high school girl exclaimed.

'They are so cute together.' Another girl gave out a dreamy sigh.

'Their height difference is so adorable."

'Her husband is really tall and handsome.'

'Look at his wife, she's really pretty.'

I know. Wait, what? Husband? Wife? Sounds pretty good to me.

'I bet their baby would be so pretty or handsome, too.'

I couldn't hold back the grin on my face hearing those high schoolers. My pretty mate looks like a strawberry by now. She's been blushing the whole time. We heard them because of our werewolf hearing. And I heard them loud and clear because of my alpha hearing sense.

"Good morning, Doctor Baker!" my love greeted the doctor once we entered the room.

"Alpha," Doctor Baker bowed her head a bit before turning to my love. "Amari, how have you been? Your glowing in your pregnancy." She winked at my mate who just looked down shyly.

"Thank you," she mumbled.

Doctor Baker laughed at her and I only chuckle.

I helped my mate to lay properly on a recliner chair. She mumbled 'thank you,' and I get a hold of her hand.

Doctor Baker place the stethoscope on her belly.

"Your baby is breathing normally," informed Doc. Baker.

I don't even need to place the stethoscope in my ear, I could make out my baby's heartbeat just fine with my heightened hearing sense.

Doc. Baker proceeds to measure my love's blood pressure, and urine for protein. It took us a long time for her to allow me to enter the bathroom with her. She ordered me to turn around as she peed. How strict!

"For your next appointment, I put the information in your envelope. Just call me if anything happens, okay?" She turned to my mate and smiled. "You're way to go, Amari. Don't stress over silly small things. Do some exercise. I'm going to tell Doctor Jamie to help you with a routine."

We bid goodbye to her and entered the car outside.
