What If She Doesn't Accept

I was at school when I see who I was looking for. I see him with Stan like usual. I walked up to both of them.

"Hey Kyle, can I have a word with you?"

He looked at me confused then back at Stan.

"Uhh sure.... I'll be back Stan."

We walked until no one was around.

"What's up Craig?"

I looked around making sure no one was around.

"Okay, be real with me. Why have you been looking at Jess so much?"

He tensed as his face got red. He crossed his arms while looking away.

"Is this an interrogation because I don't want any part of it." He spoke defensively.

"No it's not... Listen,  are you keeping your eye on her too? I'm guessing you saw something on her that others might not have?" I hinted. 

His eyes widen as his face flushed.

"Y-you saw too?"

"I witnessed it myself... It's her mom's doing."

His jaw slightly dropped as if he didn't believe what I said.

"Her fucking mom did that?!" He practically yelled out.

"Yes, I wish I could say she's not but I witnessed it myself. She was found nearly dead this morning. I need your help Kyle."

He tensed as he gave a look of confusion and worry.

"Why me?" He asked while placing both his handing on his chest.

"I don't know much on this stuff. I figured since your dad is a lawyer that you could help. Or at least know where to start on all this."

He turned around while looking at his feet. He placed his index finger and thumb on his chin as he was thinking to himself.

"Well the first step is calling Child Services. They can take her away from her mom. But if she refuses, it could involve going to court to understand who would have custody of having her. It's a big ordeal. However if her mom does lose and she gets taken away from her grandparents or something then that means.."

"She gets taken away from South Park... But anything is better then.... This..." I said while looking at my feet. "Wait.... So Kyle, can you help me? I can't do this alone."

His response seemed as if it was an impulse.

"Yeah, I'll do my best." He said while turning around and facing me.

"Glad to hear, one more thing. Don't tell ANYONE! This is between me and you okay? This can't be going around the school, got it?"

"Yeah, don't worry I won't tell anyone. Hey uhh Craig.... Do you uhh... Like her or something?"

"Uhh, no.. I don't, why do you ask?"

"Well it's just.... The guys are thinking your trying to hook up with her."

"Well I'm not." I said while getting slightly flustered.

"Well in that case. I was thinking a clever way of making sure someone is with her at all times is if she's dating someone. So if one of us could maybe...ask her out? So she's always with that person. You know to make sure she's safe?"

My eyes widen toward his brilliant plan.

"Wait... That's actually not a bad idea. If your going to do that then just be careful. If you feel like your being watched let me know."

He tensed badly as he took a step back becoming flustered.

"W-Wait...Do you think she would actually accept me if I asked her out?" He asked nervously.

"Only one way of finding out..."
