Thankfully, Alexander was able to diffuse the situation by pointing out Lady Helga, who was seated near the front. As Lucas approached the woman, he watched. He already knew Helga despised the man, so he wouldn't be able to woo her, but she would remain polite enough to hold his attention. He was sure she would lead him on, which he found amusing. Whenever the woman didn't have attraction to a man, she would feign interest, but nothing would ever manifest. The duke smirked as he watched the fake flirting between the two.
"Ah, my son," King George said as he approached Alexander. "It's almost time."
"Yeah," Alexander responded, brushing off his clothing. "I suppose I should greet some of the nobles before the precession begins?"
"Probably," George responded. "Many noble men and women have gathered in support. I know your focus will be on Corina, but please at least try to greet as many of them as possible."
"Yes, it would be the polite thing to do."
