"Right, let's find the first fateful qualifier round!" Midnight snapped her whip, making a cracking sound. "As you all may expected, the qualifier round is where every single one of you compete to pass onto the next round!"
A giant hologram appeared above Midnight's head. Words zipped passed, making a blur as they appeared, then disappeared.
"The event for the qualifier round is…" the hologram stopped, making a ringing sound and revealing the event. "Obstacle Race! How exciting! All 11 classes will compete. The course is the outer perimeter of the stadium; just about four kilometers. Our school's selling point is freedom! As long as you stay in the course, it doesn't matter what you do!"
Students got real excited when they heard this. Anything, you say? Just how I like it. This would be interesting.
"Now, get to your positions!" Midnight gave one last glittering smile before the contestants gathered around the start.
Everyone had serious looks in their faces. Except for Kisu. She was laid back as always, after all, this was her third Raine competing in the Sports Festival. For me, however, this was my first time. Although, I wasn't nervous, but rather slightly excited. If I was going to scare my dear classmates, I may as well do it the right way.
The doors were open and three green lights turned on. I smirked. Ignoring the countdown, I started running outside of the stadium. Everyone was shocked that Kisu and I started running before the countdown.
"What are you waiting for? Christmas?!" Kisu yelled at them as she ran while the lights were still counting down.
"Anything goes on! Those are the rules!" I called out, snapping them out of their trance before they started running after.
Shoto ran through the crowd, filling the narrow Forrest with ice. A floor of ice followed him as he trailed through the crowd, skating across while everyone else was frozen. Except for Momo, Katsuki and Eijiro.
"Naive, Shoto!" Momo yelled as a pole came out of her hand and thrusted her forward.
"More people were able to avoid that then I expected." Shoto said as he glanced back to see people tailing him.
As I kept running, green robots started to attack everyone who near. The faux-villains from the exam. What a load of garbage. Kisu caught up to me and ran straight toward the robots, running right by my side.
"Targets locked on!" The faux-villains said with a monotone voice, raising they're robotic arms and slamming them down toward us.
I ran ahead of Kisu and she stepped in my hands like a platform once I lowered them. She jumped up and caught the robotic arm and threw herself up before the the villain could shake her off. Kisu ran across the shoulders of the robot, small bear flying to her hands. I ran between the faux's legs, avoiding any debris that was falling.
"Wow! Look at that teamwork!" Present Mic yelled into his microphone. "Aren't those your students, Erasure?!"
"Annoying brats. But they have potential as second years, I suppose." Mr. Aizawa answered.
"Yuno-Chan! You're not going to leave me, are you?" I heard Toga as she tried hugging me from behind.
I dogded to the side, causing her to roll and fall into the ground. She looked up with dirt on her face and frowned at me with little dramatic tears falling down.
"Sorry, Toga. You may be my girlfriend but you can't get in my way!" I grinned at her.
"Aw, so mean!" Toga complained before she stood up and bit into a small robot, ripping wires out and running after me.
Soon enough, Shoto had caught up to the three of us. Made me wonder where Denki was. He was probably back with the crowd, stilling trying to get through the last few faux-villains.
"Why would they put cliffs here of all places?!" Kisu said while ruffling her hair.
"It's just the natural order of things." I said while looking around.
I guess I could use one of my little inventions now. I took a card out of my pocket and threw it out into the air. It turned into a hoverboard that I had made beforehand. It didn't just hover, it literally flew across the sky. At maximum, it could go up about 5 miles high.
"Hey!" I heard Denki point at me while catching his breath. "That's not fair!" He pointed at me flying over the cliffs in my hoverboard.
"I'm still a Support Course student!" I said while winking and sending them a peace sign.
"HAHAHA! I CAN TRY OUT MY BABIES!" I heard Mei yell from behind with a full body of machinery. "C'mon, Yuno! You could get into a company with those inventions! SHOW THEM OFF, HAHAHA!"
I crossed my arms as people started crossing over the cliffs and columns of rock. The only thing that connected the pathway for those who didn't have the right Quirk were tightropes.
"Hey, you extra!" Katsuki yelled as he came flying at me, attempting to knock me off my hoverboard. I sighed and jumped off, grabbing the ledge of my hoverboard. Katsuki passed by me as I lifted my legs to kick his back and sent him flying to Thea random rock pillar.
"You'll have to try harder then that!" I stuck my tongue out at Katsuki as I let go of the hoverboard and landed in the other side of the cliffs. I continued running, Mei and Katsuki and Shoto right behind me.
"WOW!" Present Mic yelled into his microphone. "What was that?! Yuno Tsumuyuki is in the lead! That's your student right, Erasure?! He's in both the Hero Course and Supports Course! How is that possible?!"
"It's possible, but rarely ever happens. He's just different compared to those around him." Erasure said with a tired voice.
I noticed my hoverboard was out of power. I pushed a certain button and it turned back into a card, then I put it in my pocket. The last barrier, it was land mine field. What annoying and pathetic obstacles. It's obviously there to put those in the lead at a disadvantage. And those in first place will have a bit of trouble in the future. I stopped and watched a few people try and cross the field, explosions of pink smoke blowing up across the big field.
"WHAT'S THIS?!" Present Mic exclaimed. "Yuno's just watching? What's he doing?! This is so interesting, right?!"
"He already knows what's coming up." Erasure said. "He's figured out the entire situation just like that."
"WHAAA?! THAT'S AMAZING! I BET THE HEROES WATCHING ARE ARGUING ABOUT HIM! THEY PROBABLY WANT THIS DUDE TO INTERN WITH THEM!"
As the competitors ran across the field, Kisu and I sat back as everyone was rushing to get across. I put my hand in my pocket and grinned at Kisu, who smirked back at me.
"What the hell are you guys smirking about?" One of the contestants demanded as he hurried across the field.
We stared at each other with competitive looks. I shuffled my hand in my pockets slowly. Kisu stepped back and bolted across the field, the land mines flying to her hands. She threw them at the people behind her to slow them down even more.
"Oh, what's this?! Kisuma Aoni is now in the lead! SHE'S GOT LAND MINES IN HER HANDS! WHAAAAAT?! HIW DID SHE FET SO MANY SO FAST?! CLASS 1-A IS AMAZING, YEAHH!"
Katsuki went flying across the field, just a few feet off the ground. Shoto was right my his side as he used his fire to boost his speed. Kisu kept running as they passed by her. She caught Katsuki's ankle and she went flying along with them.
All of a sudden, a huge explosion was heard. People looked back to seen what that huge explosion did. They missed one thing. Izuku was flying across the field with a piece of green metal in his hands. Smart. He dug up as many land mines he could find and piled them together. Once he thought there were enough, he used the green metal to crush them and the explosion threw him up into the lead.
Now he was right above Katsuki, Shoto and Kisu. He slammed down the piece of green metal in front of them as hard as he could, causing another explosion and catching the three of them off guard.
"Deku!" Katsuki yelled angrily. "Don't look down on me, damn it!"
Izuku ignored him and reached out for the finish line, barely reaching over. Shoto, Kisu and Katsuki thrusted their hands to cross over the finish line.
"AND THE WINNER IS…" Present Mic said with a dramatic tone. "IZUKU MIDORYIAAAAAAA!"
The crowds started cheering. Izuku had won the first round. He just doesn't know what will become of his win. As for Katsuki, he was standing behind Izuku, growling and holding his strained arms.
"Damn it…again!" He snarled. "Deku…bastard!"
Toga came up right behind me and walked her arms around my neck. She started complains and shaking me around. "It's not fair, Yuno-Chan! That was too hard!"
"It's meant to be hard." I explained to her, closing my eyes and pulling her off of me. "It's the Sports Festival, what did you expect?"
"Actually, I'm impressed with the students this year." Kisu raised a finger and put her other hand in her hip. "I didn't think they would have the guts of power to push through like that. Well, I guess I kinda expected it out of Katsuki but he's just a pepper."
"What did you say about me extra?!" Katsuki yelled from across the behind Kisu. Kisu put her hands behind her head a whistled an inoffensive tune, ignoring Katsuki's complaint.
I looked up into the stands. I saw the teachers studying the contestants and talking about us. I took a glance at every single student, then I saw a skinny and scrawny man in a blue suit. All Might, Toshinori Yagi. He had a smile on his face and was looking at Izuku. My question for you, All Might, is how do you expect someone like him to succeed as your successor?
"The first game of the first years is finally complete!" Midnight interrupted me of my thoughts. "Now for your results!"
Another hologram appeared, just like before. It revealed the results of the Obstacle Race. I was glad that Denki and Shoto passed. Of course they did, they wouldn't let themselves lose. Too bad Toga didn't make it through, how sad. She came complaining to me about having to sit back in the stands and just watch.
"The 42 contestants that passed will move in to the next game." Midnight said as she licked her lips. "The rest of you, don't worry. We have other ways of giving you a chance to shine. Anyway, here's the next game! What will be? I wonder, let's find out, shall we?"
The hologram made that ringing noise again. Smack dab in the middle of hologram was the second game, Cavalry Battle.
"A cavalry battle?" Denki asked. "I suck at those!"
"It's usually a team event, so I wonder how this will go." Tsuyu put a finger to her chin.
"Here's how the rules work." Midnight cracked her whip. "Participants will be in teams of two to four, teamed up with people as they wish. It's basically like a regular cavalry battle, except, one thing. Based on the results of the last game, you'll each be assigned a point value."
"The same point-based system as the entrance exam, huh?" Rikido confirmed. "That's easy to understand."
"In other words," I said while crossing my arms and closing my eyes. "Each team will be worth a different amount of points depending on who teams up with who."
"Ohh," Kisu said while pointing finger guns at me. "I see! Cool!"
"You guys don't hold back even when I'm talking, huh?!" Midnight yelled at us, basically saying to shut up. "That's correct. And the points assigned go up by five starting from the bottom. So for example, 42nd is worth five points and 42st is worth ten points! And the point value assigned to first place is…" Midnight paused, for dramatic effect. "Ten million!"
It went quiet for a few seconds. I rolled my eyes and put my hand in my pockets, preparing for the shocked reactions of the contestants.
"T- ten million?!" Izuku said with a dumbfounded look on his face.
They assigned that point value for a reason. It's survival of the fittest for those at the bottom to throw off the ones at the top. What fun. It'll be interesting, that's for sure. This is just the beginning.
