Maiah was weary and battered when she left the old madam's house. Because of being continuously wet with water she kept sneezing as she walked home.
I should have brought a sweater.
Maiah woefully shook her head at her misfortune when the chilly breeze began to get active. She was already a certain distance from the old madam's house, and it will be a short while until she gets to her house.
Its dark and I'm all alone. The chances of being jumped are currently super high.
Maiah forces herself to stay alert, even though she is exhausted. She quickens her pace feeling anxious. For the idea of being this vulnerable in the dark unnerves her.
Maiah can hear the sound of her fast footsteps echoing in the dark and she begins to calm down.
Even though she makes up the minority it's not like anybody would try to do anything to a child like her. Maiah coaxes hers in this way but walks even faster than before.
As Maiah nears her block she sees the familiar street lights that lead directly to her house. She quickly crosses the street and lets out a sigh of relief. As she nears closer to her house Maiah feels a chill and goosebumps run across her skin.
Maiah starts running. And this simple action sealed her fate and those of many others.
Because right she began to run, a frighteningly cold hand covers her mouth and pulls her back into the darkness.
