Chapter 7. Baby Mama

Desmond

I never imagined that an ordinary maid would bear my first child. So, coming to grips with what Zazi said is something I would like to think about thoroughly before making a serious decision.

"So you mean the one night we spent together got you pregnant?" I asked Zazi.

"Yes, it did. You are the first person I have slept with since breaking up with my ex a few months ago" she replied.

"And when you say your ex, are you referring to the guy I saw with you earlier?"

"Yes. And no, this is the first time we've seen each other in a long time; we haven't spoken since." She tries to persuade me.

I know she's telling the truth since, the night we slept together, I had to use the lubricant in my bedside closet to have easy access to her body.

"So you want me to accept the pregnancy and marry you?" I questioned her, expecting to get a response.

"Marriage is out of the discussion but accepting and taking full responsibility for the pregnancy is the most important thing" answered the woman.

"My marriage to Sophia is very important, I can't let you destroy my plans for me because of a one-night stand" I commented to her angrily.

"A paternity test will be conducted; let us start from there" I informed her that I couldn't possibly accept another man's child.

"Whatever you want, sir," she murmured, tears welling up in her eyes as if she had been punished.

"But I can't possibly go back home because I don't have a home anymore, my dad drove me out of the house" she stated.

What? I can't let her stay here because if Sophia finds out, I won't hear the end of it.

"My driver will take you to a hotel not far from here and book a room for you; don't worry about the length of your stay; you may stay as long as you want.

I am the owner of the hotel. You'll stay there until the child is born," I assured her.

How about the baby's paternity? When are the tests scheduled to take place? Her fingers entwined, she asked tremblingly.

I reassured her, "The doctor will come for that; don't worry yourself about it."

After the paternity tests show that I am responsible, which I believe I am, then I will decide to take the necessary action right away since I don't want my child to suffer as a result of my carelessness.

Sophia and I might grow mistrustful of one another as a result, but I'll make sure my child doesn't suffer.

Although, like the mother, he or she is innocent in all of this, I just cannot bring myself to be seen in public with her.

"Hey doctor, could you please come to my house in an hour?"

"Yes, sir, I will be there in a few hours, but I won't be there in an hour because I have a lot of patients that need my attention," he replied.

I told him, "But just be fast about it."

My driver took Zazi and her luggage to the hotel. In addition, I gave her some cash so she could buy herself some toiletries and anything else she needed until I decided what to do next.

A few hours later.

"Getting a DNA test is better when the child is born, but it will cost you if you want it now, and we have to wait until the fetus is a few months old."

"You mean to tell us that we have to wait until the pregnancy is a few months old?" I wanted to be sure of it.

"Yes, we must," he answered.

following the doctor's appointment that day. I met Zazi at the hotel where she is staying.

I told her, "The doctor said we have to wait a few months before we carry out the child's paternity test."

"Therefore, for the sake of the baby, I want you to try to avoid stressing yourself before then," I said.

She asked me, "Okay, so how long do you think it will be before the test is carried out?"

I gave her my word, "I'm not sure, but I'll get back to the doctor."

Right now, the child is more important. But because Sophia may be cruel at times, I will make every effort to prevent her from learning anything about Zazi to ensure both Zazi and the child's safety.

I gave a funded credit card to Zazi. She doesn't need to contact or ask for money if she wants to buy stuff for herself and baby stuff for the unborn child.

"This is one of my credit cards; you can use it to get whatever you need for the time being until this entire pregnancy saga is resolved," I extended the credit card to her.

"If you need anything other than money call my assistant" I also provided her with my PA's phone number so she could contact me through my PA if she needed help or anything money couldn't cover.

I left the hotel after meeting her. I went directly to the office of the agency that hired Zazi for me and met with Agent Kim, the agent who brought Zazi to my home.

"Hello, Agent Kim. I need information about the maid you recruited for me, her home address, her parents' or guardians' information, everything about her." I instructed him, ignoring the puzzled look on his face.

"Hello, sir, and good to see you," he says, attempting to exchange pleasantries.

"No need for pleasantries; I need everything about her by tomorrow noon," I told him, leaving his office.

I went to the office after leaving Agent Kim's office to attend a contract meeting, but in the middle of the discussion, Sophia called and asked me to return home as quickly as possible.

Saying something about discovering the secret I've been holding from her.
