Reboot

The next day Ben woke up, got fresh, ate his breakfast, and watched the news, as he always does before going to work.

"A guy found a million dollars in his backyard"

"Tony Stark shuts down the weapons manufacturing of the Stark Industries"

..closed..

But today he had a late shift, so he thought that he would go to the mall. Plus his Omnitrix was on reboot so he didn't want to be sent somewhere to repair something without the Omnitrix.

He roams around in the mall. Bought some clothes, then wanders again for some time.

Agent: (He is in the mall doing normal things. Shopping and wandering. Nothing else. Nothing unusual.)

Ben: (After what happened yesterday, some agents must be following me right now. This explains why there is less security here today and more people in nice suits doing nothing but standing here and there.)

Suddenly a shot was fired and soon firing started. Some guys with guns entered the mall and started firing in the air.

Thug 1: Everyone stay where you are or we will shoot you.

Thug 2: Stop moving. Get on the ground, hands on your head.

Agent: Damn it.

Ben: Damn it.

Agent: Seriously? Today? Anyways Ben will handle it.

Ben: Seriously? Today? I can't use my Omnitrix and that's when they plan to rob the mall. Anyways. The agents will handle it.

Thug 3: Nobody moves. Hey, you 2 go loot that side. You 3 loot the west side. Take anything of value and not useless items. Nobody moves.

Agent: I need backup right now…

Thug 4: Hey you need an invitation? Get on the ground. Hey, what's this in your ear? Hey, look, an earpiece. Who you talking to? Calling for backup? Haha. You got a nice suit. Tell your boss you won't be able to attend the business conference. Don't worry I'll tell him.

Ben notices the agent.

Ben: (He got an earpiece, and wears a suit. So he was sent to follow me. Too bad).

Agent: (Why isn't Ben doing anything?)

Thug 5: Hey you. Nice watch. Give me that.

Ben: (Aaaah. This is what I feared. I can't give him the Omnitrix. If I refuse he will shoot me. If my Omnitrix is damaged a lot it might not protect me and I might die. If it's not damaged that much then it will activate midway the reboot and I will transform but that will damage the Omnitrix even more and I don't know what other problems will it cause. Uhhh what should I do? Wait. That's it.)

Thug 5: Hey you heard what I said? Give me your watch.

Ben: Sorry sir. Here take it.

He hands over the watch to the thug. Much to the agents' shock.

Thug 5: Aahh nice. Wait why isn't it showing time?

Ben: It doesn't have battery. It works on battery. I was here to buy the battery.

Thug 5: Alright.

Agent: (What the hell Ben. You gave him the alien device. You in your right mind?)

Ben looks at the agent who is looking at him and winks at him.

Agent: (What? He winked at me. Does he know we're following him. Of course he knows. But, does he have a plan?)

Agent 1: Everyone freeze.

Suddenly some agents entered the mall.

Agent 2: We have surrounded the building. Leave the hostages and surrender.

Thug 2: You come any closer and we will shoot them. We will shoot them all.

Agent 3: There is no point in this, leave them and surrender.

Thug 1: You want to know the point. Huh. I'll show you the point after I shoot them at point blank.

Ben: (The situation is getting worse. This isn't solving anything. I'll have to do something.) Agents. All of you please listen. This won't solve anything. They won't harm us if you leave. Let them rob this place. Our lives are more valuable than the items in the mall. Let them take it.

He nods at the agent. The agent understands.

Thug 3: Yes. See. This man has brains. He knows what is right.

Agent: Yes all the agents do as he told you to. Back off

Thug 4: Hey you an agent too?

Agent: Yes, but I understand now that this won't solve anything. Agents, please leave.

Agent 1: What?

Agent 2: Is he crazy?

Ben: Please understand. These guys are not bad. These are good people with needs. Leave them. They won't harm us.

Thug 5: Hey man you know what? You are nice. You can have your watch back.

Ben: no no no. I mean, it's yours now, you keep it. Please. I insist on it.

Agent: Just do it. Do as he says.

Agents: Fine.
