Beast Driven System

The modern age of human society had undergone an evolution that changed it forever. Mana had arrived on Earth, and with it, came a meteor shower that threatened to reduce humanity to nothing but rubble and debris. Earth's governments were thrown into chaos because of this, and many military units were deployed to protect the masses from what they could only assume to be the end of the world. Using the most advanced arsenal possessed by the various world military governments, the adverse effects of the meteor shower had been controlled to an incredible degree, protecting most of Earth's inhabitants from utter annihilation. There were countries that were destroyed, leaderships and citizens wiped from the face of the Earth. Reconstruction had to be done to bring the demolished landscapes back to their former glory. It seemed like everything had gone back to normal, however, that was far from the case. Months after the meteor shower incident, world renouned scientists dedicated their time to studying these strange crystalline meteorites. Years later, and something ground breaking had been discovered-abilities. These meteorites, they weren't actually meteorites, but crystals. Where they had come from was unknown and still being researched up till today. From the crystals came abilities that changed humanity forever. Those who could afford the crystals were fortuate enough to obtain strange powers from within. Fire, boulder, serpent, and many others. Many more years passed by, and more and more was being discovered about abilities and the crystals they came from. Everything seemed to be heading up after the phenomenon that nearly destroyed the Earth, but not everything was for the benefit of everyone. For many years, most were oblivious to the presence of abilities on Earth. It wasn't until an alien invasion occoured, that the information on abilities was made public. Strong ability users were needed to defend Earth against the Shales. The government, private and public corporations, and many others, they were all monetizing whatever crystals they could get their hands on, using it as a means of earning revenye from the populace. Those who were rich enough to purchase ability crystals could become ability users, while those who couldn't would simply remain as regular humans. Many rich families in the new world were able to obtain strong abilities for themselves and their children; the ones who would continue their lineage and glory once their parents are no more. In order to learn how to defend humanity from the invasion of the aliens, people from the ages of 16 were ordered to attend a military academy by the decree of the federal government of their respective countries. Failure to abide by this law was punishable by jail time. Kayden, a sixteen-year-old from a city known as Black Saber city. Having lost his parents at a very yoing age, he had to live with his single uncle and his cousin. Like many other teenagers his age, he desired to attend military school to learn how to fight against the Shales. However, being unable to afford an ability, his dreams of becoming powerful seemed like they would be crushed, but that all changed the day he had been given a system that allows him to unlock monsters by completing quests. On his path to evolve, he must face multiple challenges, complete quests and go on missions just to grow in strength. For in the current world, only the strong are regarded, while the weak are cast aside and forgotten. That was the general rule, the rule that governed everything that happened. From a crystal, came a power that changed his life. Now, he must do whatever it takes to save the people he loves and cares about. He must make sure that he doesn't loose the people he cares about once more.

Stronger Than A Second Year?

'That brat!' Henry yelled internally, his eyes wide open in shock. He and the other second year students we're shocked to see just what this first year student had done. The second year student who he was fighting looked livid as she screamed out in rage, causing the others to stop their fights to see what was going on.

Kayden was still out of control as he swiped his claws in all sorts of directions. The student tried using the sword to deflect the attacks. It wasn't until he had slipped up, that she used the opportunity to stab him in the chest once again. This time, it seemed to have had more of an effect on him, as his movements began to grow sluggish.

Zain, who had previously been knocked out, seemed to be coming to, as he had raised his head slightly from the floor, seeing Kayden in such a frenzied state.

'What's... What's wrong with him?' he thought, but not long after, he had lost consciousness once again, having just barely healed from his injuries and overexerting himself. The others had barely managed to regain consciousness, while Kayden was still swinging his claws and legs like a rabid beast.

It seemed like in this state, his body was heading at a faster rate, causing his Mana to deplete much faster than usual, while also allowing him to regain his strength and stamina to continue fighting despite having been stabbed twice. Realizing that this student wasn't going down easily, she jumped back, trying to think of a strategy before he had caught up to her.

Panicked, she thought that there wasn't much that she could do from now, that she would loose this fight. The very thought of such a thing had entered shivers down her spine. How could see, a second year student, loose to someone who was so far beneath her in the ladder of strength. It would only mean one thing, that there was a first year student who had surpassed her. She would never be able to live down the shame amongst her fellow second year students.

While these thoughts were rummaging her mind, she suddenly remembered that she hadn't used the skill of the sword since the beginning of her match. Although it had been damaged, that didn't mean that she still couldn't make use of the skill. With this knowledge, she activated the skill, and a ball of light began to surround the sword. Tight as Kayden was close enough to her, she swung it out, producing a thick line of aura that travelled at a fast pace, hitting Kayden right at the chest.

He howled in pain. The force of the strike had pushed him into the air, sending him into the wall crashing. His body sliding and fell onto the hard Galamite floor, and it didn't seem like he would be getting back up anytime soon.

Breathing heavily, with her hair a mess, the female student dropped her sword on the floor, before turning to face the other second year students. The others, including Henry, looked quite shocked by what had just happened, and wanted to talk more about it, but they knew that now wasn't the best time for that.

The instructors then walked towards the fallen students, before supplying their bodies with additional Mana to help them heal faster. Although they would still have to be taken to the infermary since their wounds looked quite severe. It wasn't long until they had been handed over to the school nurse who would further use her ability to help heal them up.

Meanwhile, the instructors had walked forward, facing the second year students who had been assigned the responsibility of assisting with today's magical weapons class. Almost all of them looked to have managed to defeat the first year students without even breaking a sweat. However, the same couldn't be said for the second year student named Patricia.

They had all seen how a single first year student had pushed her so far hat she had to take the simple sparring match serious. Not being allowed to use her ability, she had to rely on her natural skill and the skill of her sword to ultimately defeat Kayden. Throughout her match, she never expected that she would have to use the weapon's skill. But that all changed the moment Kayden had goes berserk.

Patricia held her head down in embarrassment. Reminiscing how this student had viciously attacked her, it made her blood boil. She was ashamed that it took so much effort from her to finally defeat him. She didn't know what she would say to the other second year students once they had left this place. She also worried about how the other students would view her after she and the others left this place.

The instructors gave her a glare before turning their attention to the others. They gave their appreciations towards the others for participating in the exercise while also telling them that the same exercise will be running for two weeks straight. However, since the student competition would be held a week from now, the other half of the class would be taking place tight after the one week competition.

The students then bowed their heads in respect before heading out of the room. Patricia could feel the piercing gaze of the instructors on her as she ad the other excited the room. Of course, they were upset because she had been bested by a first year student who hadn't even spent a month at the academy. Although they were glad that the first year student was making a rapid growth, they didn't want her to slack as well. What would be the point of her being a second year student if there was a student below her who was stronger. The same applied to the others as well.

After witnessing Kayden go berserk and attack the second year student the way he did, the instructors had gained a level of interest towards him. Wanting to know more about him, a couple of them decided to head towards the main database room where the academy's chief technician and record keeper would usually be.

The academy would usually allow the instructors access to students' information. This was so that they could know the students who were considered important so as to be aware of the fact that such students would need protection during dangerous situations such as the expedition course coming up soon.

Interested in finding out more about this student who had just closed the gap between first and second years, it wasn't long until they had made it to the database room and met up with the person there. They asked the man a couple questions until they had finally found what they were looking for. Reading up on this student, the quickly realized that there wasn't anything special about him in the first place.

He comes from a city named Black Saber city. He lives with his uncle and cousin and he has a mystery class ability that grants him the power of Werewolf transformation. Although they we're disappointed by the fact that he hadn't come from an influencial family, that didn't dwindle the interest they had in him. If he was this strong now, then who knew how much stronger he would become before the exploration course.

The instructors had agreed to keep a close eye on him to monitor his progress at the academy. Meanwhile, Kayden and the others were at the infermary. Seeing the number of students being brought in, the academy's nurse started to feel like she was going to have a heart attack. The entirety of the first year of students had been administered to receive treatment, but there wasn't enough space in the infermary to contain them all. So, to compensate for this, the unconscious bodies of the excess students were left to lay in the hallway until it had reached their turn for the nurse to heal them.

All of this was just exhausting her Mana quicker than usual, and although her superiors had supplied her with a large amount of Mana potions to replenish her Mana when necessary, the process of healing so many students so soon was mentally draining. She was beginning to consider taking a leave from the academy once she was done healing all these students.

Later that day, Kayden had been attended to by the nurse. Although one's Mana can heal injuries, certain students have faster healing capabilities than others. While the second years have superior healing properties, the same couldn't be said for the first years. They still had a lot to learn in the first place.

Even with his werewolf form, his healing properties weren't able to keep up with the injuries which had been inflicted on his body, and after exhausting most of his Mana in the fight, he didn't have much left to heal himself after the last attack was delivered. He ultimately needed the help of the school nurse to share her Mana with him so that his wounds would heal quicker.

Not long after, and his eyes slowly panned open. Looking around, he realized that he was back in his dorm room. All his wounds had been healed, and he was back in peak physical condition. However, he couldn't stop thinking about what had happened during the magical weapons class. It seemed like whatever it was that had overcame him had vanished just like that.
