Beast Driven System

The modern age of human society had undergone an evolution that changed it forever. Mana had arrived on Earth, and with it, came a meteor shower that threatened to reduce humanity to nothing but rubble and debris. Earth's governments were thrown into chaos because of this, and many military units were deployed to protect the masses from what they could only assume to be the end of the world. Using the most advanced arsenal possessed by the various world military governments, the adverse effects of the meteor shower had been controlled to an incredible degree, protecting most of Earth's inhabitants from utter annihilation. There were countries that were destroyed, leaderships and citizens wiped from the face of the Earth. Reconstruction had to be done to bring the demolished landscapes back to their former glory. It seemed like everything had gone back to normal, however, that was far from the case. Months after the meteor shower incident, world renouned scientists dedicated their time to studying these strange crystalline meteorites. Years later, and something ground breaking had been discovered-abilities. These meteorites, they weren't actually meteorites, but crystals. Where they had come from was unknown and still being researched up till today. From the crystals came abilities that changed humanity forever. Those who could afford the crystals were fortuate enough to obtain strange powers from within. Fire, boulder, serpent, and many others. Many more years passed by, and more and more was being discovered about abilities and the crystals they came from. Everything seemed to be heading up after the phenomenon that nearly destroyed the Earth, but not everything was for the benefit of everyone. For many years, most were oblivious to the presence of abilities on Earth. It wasn't until an alien invasion occoured, that the information on abilities was made public. Strong ability users were needed to defend Earth against the Shales. The government, private and public corporations, and many others, they were all monetizing whatever crystals they could get their hands on, using it as a means of earning revenye from the populace. Those who were rich enough to purchase ability crystals could become ability users, while those who couldn't would simply remain as regular humans. Many rich families in the new world were able to obtain strong abilities for themselves and their children; the ones who would continue their lineage and glory once their parents are no more. In order to learn how to defend humanity from the invasion of the aliens, people from the ages of 16 were ordered to attend a military academy by the decree of the federal government of their respective countries. Failure to abide by this law was punishable by jail time. Kayden, a sixteen-year-old from a city known as Black Saber city. Having lost his parents at a very yoing age, he had to live with his single uncle and his cousin. Like many other teenagers his age, he desired to attend military school to learn how to fight against the Shales. However, being unable to afford an ability, his dreams of becoming powerful seemed like they would be crushed, but that all changed the day he had been given a system that allows him to unlock monsters by completing quests. On his path to evolve, he must face multiple challenges, complete quests and go on missions just to grow in strength. For in the current world, only the strong are regarded, while the weak are cast aside and forgotten. That was the general rule, the rule that governed everything that happened. From a crystal, came a power that changed his life. Now, he must do whatever it takes to save the people he loves and cares about. He must make sure that he doesn't loose the people he cares about once more.

Securing A Win(Part 3)

"Hey! Have you guys noticed that Kayden and Kayla seem to be hanging out a lot lately?"

"Yeah? And so? They're both high-ranking students. It only makes sense that they would spend so much time together."

"Yeah. Do you think that she would ever both wasting her time with a pathetic low-ranked student like you? In your dreams, fool."

The students of the academy were busy talking and interacting with one another. They would usually do this once all the classes for the day comes to an end.

A group of students were currently discussing about the recent events of Kayden and Kayla hanging out more with each other. A lot of students were wondering why this was suddenly happening, as they believed that a high-ranking student like her would prefer to be with either the second or third strongest, but instead, she chose to associate herself with the forth strongest student.

Some were starting to think that the both of them were a thing, but there was currently no way to confirm whether of not this was true or false, so for now, all that had to go by were the rumors and what they would see from time to time.

Meanwhile, Shawn was on his way to his dorm room after the training for the day had come to an end.

More specifically, he wanted to head back to his underground lab to continue with his experiments and research.

However, it was when he had walked past a couple of students that he suddenly halt in his footsteps.

"George, do you know what I saw one day in the hallway?"

"Ugh! Just spit it out! You know I don't like your stupid guessing games!"

"Fine! Man, why can't you learn to be more loose and stop being so uptight all of the time? Anyways, you know how everyone's talking about Kayden and Kayla probably being a thing?" The student asked.

George, shooting him a warning look, was making it clear that the next time he would repeat the same mistake, that his face would pay for it.

"Alright, fine. Chill. Ahem… well, that day, I saw Kayden and Kayla in the hallway, and she had her hand around her neck, strangling him."

This was the part that had suddenly peaked Shawn's interest.

"She was strangling him? So what do you think about that?" George asked.

"Hey! What are you guys talking about?" Dylan suddenly appeared, asking what's going on.

"Oh, don't mind me. Ken here's just telling me about how he saw Kayla in the hallway wanting to unalive our dear Titan four. Come on, Ken, continue this wonderous tale," George explained.

'What's going on with Kayden and that girl?' Shawn wondered, wanting to know more about what was going on.

"Anyways, I didn't want to spend too much time over there before they spotted me. However, before I left, I heard him saying that he wouldn't do that again. Not sure what that means. What do you guys think?" Ken asked, looking at both Dylan and George.

The both of them looked at each other, before turning their attention back to Ken.

"They're dating!" The all said in unison, bursting into laughter the next second.

'Che! What kinda game is Kayden playing with that girl?' Shawn wondered to himself.

He suddenly remembered one day when Kayden had come back into the room late.

_________

Shawn had just come back from his underground lab, ready to call it a night. However, Kayden wasn't back by this time. Fortunately, it wasn't long till the door to their room had opened, and coming in was no one but Kayden.

"Hey, man. Where have you been?" Shawn asked, sounding tired and wanting to get some sleep.

"Uh, don't mind me. I just got back from some training, that's all," Kayden replied, rushing over to his bed before lying on it, falling to sleep the next second.

_________

'Something doesn't feel right about this whole thing,' Shawn thought, heading over to his dorm room after hearing everything he wished to hear from these students. 'Is Kayden okay?'

Thanks to some of the students who were loyal to him at the academy, he was able to find out just what was going on with Kayden and Kayla.

It was then that he had decided that he would help protect him from her reign of terror.

________

"I don't want you to be controlled by her anymore," Shawn said, getting ready to deliver another attack. "Come on! Let's deal with her while she's down!"

However, it was then that that she began to rise to her feet, clenching her teeth tightly as she wiped her hand against the side of her mouth.

"You'll fucking pay for interfering in my training!" She yelled, creating two large circular discs out of flames with her hands, allowing them to rotate right above her hands. "Don't think I'm scared because our power levels are similar. I'm way stronger than you can ever imagine!"

Hurling one of the discs forward, it would moved in all sorts of directions while in the air, however, something that Kayden quickly came to realize was that the disc would follow them wherever they would move.

"Quick! We have to destroy that disc!" Shawn yelled, humping up into the air.

'But I don't even have any power that can help me out! I have to get in direct contact with the flames if I wish to have any shot at getting rid of it!' He thought to himself, rushing tiwards Shawn.

Leaping into the air, Shawn went to grasp the circular diac with his bare hands, before teleporting away and appearing right behind Kayla with the disc in hand.

Swiping it toward her neck, he was surprised to see her quickly turn around, with the other disc in hand, swiping it as well.

As both discs collided, a loud bang was heard, and the force which they both carried was enough to create ripples in the air, strong enough to push Kayden back.

___________

Zain had made it to the infirmary, and had proceeded to lay Ken's unconscious body on top of one of the beds before leaving the place.

'I hope he'll be alright,' he thought, clenching his fist. 'He didn't deserve this, to be treated like that! He didn't even challenge Josh for his rank. Heck, what could Josh benefit from beating him up other than the satisfaction of picking on someone weaker than him?'

On his way back to his dorm room, he suddenly sensed that he was being followed.

"Ugh, you guys again," he said, turning his head, only to see a flash if lightning heading his way. "Now, let's see how much stronger I've become," he said with a smile.

__________

Somewhere in Black Saber city, Agent Nero was at a loss of what to do. It wouldn't be long until the rogue Shale destroys the entire city, and moreover, it didn't seem like the people seated around the table were willing to contribute anything else to help out the civilians.

At the end of the day, she couldn't really force them to get anything done, as she wasn't the one directly in charge of them.

She was just sent here to help them out in defeating the Shale.

"If we don't do something soon, then everyone in this city will die," she lamented, pacing back and forth. Even she wasn't sure that her power alone wouldn't be able to do much against the lone Shale. Moreover, it was clear from how they all acted that none of the men present would be willing to pull any strings they could to help out in the fight.

"Have I failed this mission?" She thought, remembering her family back at home. "I told them that once this mission was over, that I would go back to them. But what if I fail this mission? What then? How am I meant to just move on after so many innocent civilians have died under my protection?"

This wasn't the first time a mission had went South. There had been a number of times in the past when she had been deployed to assist a group in carrying out an operation. However, be it that their enemy was too powerful, or that they la ked the necessary back up, a lot of innocent people would end up loosing their lives.

"This might just be another instance," she said, with her head held down low.

__________

Somewhere in the city, the Shale could be seen brimming with power, firing out one spell after another, killing anything in its path.

"Commander! What do we do?!" One of the men yelled out, using his water class ability to create a strong barrier protecting the others from the shale's power. However, despite how strong his ability was, small cracks began to appear on the barrier, and it wouldn't be long until it came crumbling down, leaving them all vulnerable to be attacked.

"We stand our ground and keep on fighting to the very end!" He yelled out, holding onto his right arm. A large chunk of it had been sliced off Hy the Shale, and he was doing the best he could to stop the bleeding. At this rate, it wouldn't be long before the commander looses a lot of blood along with his consiousness.

And if he doesn't receive medical attention soon, he would die as well.

"Remember why you all became soldiers! To defend our planet from them!" He yelled, pointing his good hand towards the blue-scaled creature in front of them. "Even if we die today, then let us die knowing we were doing a selfless act for humanity!"

From his hand, sparks began to form, as well, his eyes began to glow blue with energy.

"For mankind!" He screamed at the top of his lungs, shooting out a large flash of lightning from his hand towards the creature.

"For humanity!" The rest of the soldiers yelled out in unity, generating attacks and hurling them straight at the Shale.

"Pathetic," the creature said, creating a barrier with its magic. "You all are pathetic!" It yelled, with a sinister smile on its face.
