Beast Driven System

The modern age of human society had undergone an evolution that changed it forever. Mana had arrived on Earth, and with it, came a meteor shower that threatened to reduce humanity to nothing but rubble and debris. Earth's governments were thrown into chaos because of this, and many military units were deployed to protect the masses from what they could only assume to be the end of the world. Using the most advanced arsenal possessed by the various world military governments, the adverse effects of the meteor shower had been controlled to an incredible degree, protecting most of Earth's inhabitants from utter annihilation. There were countries that were destroyed, leaderships and citizens wiped from the face of the Earth. Reconstruction had to be done to bring the demolished landscapes back to their former glory. It seemed like everything had gone back to normal, however, that was far from the case. Months after the meteor shower incident, world renouned scientists dedicated their time to studying these strange crystalline meteorites. Years later, and something ground breaking had been discovered-abilities. These meteorites, they weren't actually meteorites, but crystals. Where they had come from was unknown and still being researched up till today. From the crystals came abilities that changed humanity forever. Those who could afford the crystals were fortuate enough to obtain strange powers from within. Fire, boulder, serpent, and many others. Many more years passed by, and more and more was being discovered about abilities and the crystals they came from. Everything seemed to be heading up after the phenomenon that nearly destroyed the Earth, but not everything was for the benefit of everyone. For many years, most were oblivious to the presence of abilities on Earth. It wasn't until an alien invasion occoured, that the information on abilities was made public. Strong ability users were needed to defend Earth against the Shales. The government, private and public corporations, and many others, they were all monetizing whatever crystals they could get their hands on, using it as a means of earning revenye from the populace. Those who were rich enough to purchase ability crystals could become ability users, while those who couldn't would simply remain as regular humans. Many rich families in the new world were able to obtain strong abilities for themselves and their children; the ones who would continue their lineage and glory once their parents are no more. In order to learn how to defend humanity from the invasion of the aliens, people from the ages of 16 were ordered to attend a military academy by the decree of the federal government of their respective countries. Failure to abide by this law was punishable by jail time. Kayden, a sixteen-year-old from a city known as Black Saber city. Having lost his parents at a very yoing age, he had to live with his single uncle and his cousin. Like many other teenagers his age, he desired to attend military school to learn how to fight against the Shales. However, being unable to afford an ability, his dreams of becoming powerful seemed like they would be crushed, but that all changed the day he had been given a system that allows him to unlock monsters by completing quests. On his path to evolve, he must face multiple challenges, complete quests and go on missions just to grow in strength. For in the current world, only the strong are regarded, while the weak are cast aside and forgotten. That was the general rule, the rule that governed everything that happened. From a crystal, came a power that changed his life. Now, he must do whatever it takes to save the people he loves and cares about. He must make sure that he doesn't loose the people he cares about once more.

Second Year Assistance

After sharing the Mana potions just fully amongst themselves, they didn't want for someone to tell them to gulp them down. Upon taking the potions, not only could they feel this Mana being replenished, they could feel their bodies becoming stronger than they usually would be. Checking the system, Kayden had seen that his Mana holding capacity had risen by one thousand after drinking all the potions he had earned.

Almost immediately after, their surrounding environment began to change. The strange scenery was quickly replaced by the large, mostly empty room called the Arena. The instructor then came back out to meet with her students. Upon seeing the look on their faces, it was clear that they were proud of their accomplishments.

"Our class for today is over. Congratulations, you managed to survive this time and make it yo the Mana potions in the end. However, today's practical class will be the easiest you will ever experience here. Remember that. Now, get going. You shouldn't keep the other instructors waiting. You're almost late for your magical weapons class."

The three of them bowed in respect before heading off to the magical weapons class. After taking the potions, they were now stronger than ever. Dan was even considering challenging a student for a higher rank now that he was stronger. He was also setting his sights on one day becoming one of the five titans of the first year students.

They had made it just in time for the class to begin. Seeing the serious look on the instructors' faces, their bodies began to shivers in horror. Seeing as there had been a trend of how all the classes had gone exceedingly hard, they began to wonder just how hard today's magical weapons class would be.

"Now that we know that you all can activate your chosen magical weapon, we will now move on to how well you can use them against some of the students from the second year. For the next two weeks, you all will be training with the second year students, using your weapons only to improve on yourselves."

While he was saying this, a bunch of students that most of the first years didn't recognize suddenly entered the room. They looked mostly disinterested in what was going on and just wanted to get it all over with, while there were those who didn't want to be there in the first place and were forced to do this along with the others. Naturally, the second years had no interest in interactions with students who were far below them, as even the weakest second year student was stronger than the first years' titan one.

Standing in front of the younger students were ten second years students. Upon looking at each of them, Kayden was learning about their ability. However, when using the inspect skill, w tab was brought up which he had never seen before when using the skill on the student. Perhaps it was something unique that set the second years apart from the first years. Kayden was interested in finding out what this thing was.

[Henry Blight]

[Second year student]

[Fire Class Ability: Inferno]

[Durability: 100%]

[Skill: Dragon Spirit Summoning]

[Soul Power: ??]

'Soul Power? What's that?' he wondered, raising an eyebrow. He had never heard of such a thing before. Was it some sort of power that comes from your soul. What is the difference between that and a regular ability, and how are the second years' able to access such a thing. Kayden was so curious and eager to find out what this was that he couldn't stop staring at this student, his hands curling into tight fists as well.

"Hey! Who fo you think you're looking at?!" the second year student named Henry yelled, his eyes starting to glow with red energy. He was about to step forward and deal with this younger student, until one of the instructors had gotten between him and Kayden. The latter didn't even know when Henry started charging an attack as he was stuck in some sort of trance.

'Henry, just what are you doing?! Control yourself! We don't want these instructors finding out that something's going on,' one of the second years thought to herself, trying to retain her composure in front of everyone.

Kayden had finally made it out of his stupor, shaking his head. Not long after, and the instructors began to explain what would be happening today. While this was going on, Kayden couldn't stop staring in the direction of the second year student who wanted to fight him. Although his system didn't tell him things such as the Mana one possessed, he knew for certain that this student was more than strong enough to end him easily.

Plus, seeing as how the other nine we're behaving in his presence, it was obvious that he was of a higher rate than the others. That, and he could tell from their wrist watches. These group of students looked eager to show how higher they were in rank in case these younger students ended up coming across other second years later on.

Both the first and second year students had separate power ranking systems. So, if someone in the first year had a rank of sixteen, same as someone room the second year, it didn't mean that they were at the same level of power. It simply showed how strong they were in relation to other students whose strength can more easily be measured in relation to theirs.

Henry looked like he was barely managing to control himself as his gaze would constantly fall on the student who was staring at him. It didn't take long for Kayden to figure out what this guy was some sort of sociopath. He wasn't willing to let a simple stare slide and is thinking too much about it.

'Shit. This guy may become a problem in the future. Why did I even look at his stupid face?!' Kayden was screaming at himself internally. He was already unsafe amongst his fellow first year students, and now, it looked like he had made an enemy of a second year, one that seemed to be someone powerful on that level as well. Just what had he gone and got himself into.

"Starting today, you all will be paired in groups of five to one. Five first year students will be fighting against a single second year students. From this, we will see where you need improving and will offer you guidance which may even safe your life out there in the future. Now, start firming groups and chose the students you wish to spar with.

Doing a mental calculation of what the instructor had said, Kayden realized that only fifty students would be able to participate in this part of the class. Since the class numbered a total of two hundred, he was wondering how the instructors were going to let this work.

While he was thinking this, it looked like the other students had picked up on this as well, and what followed suite couldn't be the fault of the students since it was the instructors who had made a miscalculation. The students began to turn on each other, fighting to see who would spar with the second year students.

The girls in the first year were immediately head over heals in love with the student named Henry. His short red hair and yellow eyes were enchanting to them. However, looking at these girls swooning over him, he couldn't help but feel disgusted. He remembered when he was in the first year himself, no one really paid no attention to him back then. Now, being thrown all this love and attention, it made him feel sick to his stomach.

However, seeing these students fighting against each other, brought him a sense of relief as he folded his arms with a smirk on his face. He watched as the student who had offended him was being attacked by a girl with a Tidal Class Ability. This was the first time Kayden had come across a student at the academy having such an ability class. Her ability allowed her to produce ice, allowing her to free her opponents in place.

Kayden had transformed into his werewolf form as the form's strength and speed was what he needed against this student. He ran s fast as he could, avoiding all her strikes, closing the distance before he finally landed an attack diagonally against her face. He didn't care about whether he was fighting was a girl or a boy. In the academy, and even the outside world, gender no longer dictated the rules of combat as heavily as they did in the past.

The attack had cut deep into her face, even cracking her bone and just barely avoiding the brain. Although having an ability allows one to heal their injuries, any damage done to the brain cannot be healed, even with the use of an ability. Till this day, scientists have yet to discovered a reason for this, or a way around it, so Kayden was mindful not to affect her brain in that attack, being well aware of this fact prior to this fight.
